Weapon based assassinations.

Hand to hand and knife combat assassinations are cool and all, but there definitely needs to be more in-game weapon assassinations. As it stands, the only one used is the plasma grenade in the Mario throw style assassination.

Now, imagine this: the assassination you perform coincides with weapon you are wielding. Example:

Your spartan uses the a shard from the needler to stab the enemy’s neck, or slaps him or her similarly to the animation similar to the Halo CE melee attack (easter egg opportunity there.)

Your spartan uses the jagged teeth from the brute hammer to stab the spartan in the back or even the chest (another easter egg opportunity from ODST)

Or how about this: using a playable Elite, you whisper into the ear of your opponent “You must be silenced.” right before you stab him/her in the back with the energy sword, then let out a howling “Waaaaaaahhhhhhh!” afterward (ultimate easter egg opportunity)

Thoughts?

Halo 5 already has some weapon specific assassinations.

Overall though, I really don’t have a preference as I have them disabled because there’s nothing like assassinating someone when you meant to backsmack them instead.

with the “assassinations only” custom game setting that basically dominates the Halo 5 customs browser around the clock, I’m sure there’s a high demand for more and more assassination styles. I don’t ever enter those games myself, but since there are so many players in those lobbies, it’s safe to assume that assassinations are popular and well liked. I am like you and I disable the assassinations simply for the reason of not accidentally assassinating someone when i don’t want to, but I will admit it is a bit more degrading and humiliating to get assassinated by someone you didn’t see coming, especially if you have a power weapon or OS.

One of the hilarious and/or infuriating features of Gears of War 4 is the ability to perform humiliating and degrading curb stomps on other players. Nothing ends the match quite like the last man standing getting slammed over and over by one player while all the other surviving team mates shoot, t bag, and dance around like bafoons before his inevitable defeat.

Titanfall has things like this. Theres one where you steal their pistol and gun them down with it from behind. It would be cool to have various weapon based assassinations for more than the melee weapons. I would also like an option for the game to randomly do an assassination from the ones you have unlocked. Not just the same one every time.

Sounds good, maybe there could even be assassinations where you steal your victim’s weapon and use it against them.

Just so long as its not like Gears of War where its just variations of smashing their skulls with the weapon in hand. I want it to be a bit more unique.
The Gravity Hammer ones a good place to start. So’s Supernova.

I like the idea of weapon based assassinations in Halo, however, due to the lack of blood and gore they look ridiculous in Halo 5. They work well in Gears because they are brutal, and they look brutal, same with Doom 2016 and glory kills and weapon based kills, the chainsaw kills are so good. I know Doom Eternal is taking it further. I hope Halo Infinite does too, but I think they’ll look just as ridiculous as Halo 5 without blood and gore.

All the more reason to bring back the M rating, amirite? However, looking from their perspective, there are a lot of parents over the years who have been fine with their 10 year and above kids playing Halo.(ny parents it was a big hell no) however, I’ll make an educated guess and assume that they wouldn’t let their kids play something as brutal as Gears or Doom. There is a big difference between a super soldier guy just shooting aliens and some overly buff dude chainsawing people to shreds.

I mean, Halo has branched more into the kids market now than it ever has before: mega bloc, POPS dolls, plush toys, freakin plastic energy swords with sound effects. 343 has the dilemma that they gotta make the next game appeal to ppl like you and me who want a Mature rated game, while at the same time knowing that a part of their fan base is playing with Mega Blocks of Master Chief.

Solution: make Infinite M for Mature, but then create a mega blocks or POPs Halo game also that kids/young teens could play. It would totally work, and I guarantee there would even be tons of adults who would play a Halo mega blocks or POPs game, myself included.

Hell, if Gears of War can make a POPs game, then why can’t Halo?

Inb4 “not enough money” “waste of time” “they have better things to do”

This is my opinion, so anyone can feel free to agree or disagree as they please.

More weapon based assassinations would be wicked cool. It’s one of those “would be sweet, but not required” kind of things to me.

Halo Infinite is gonna need a lot of that stuff. Clearly this is gonna be the longest wait for a Halo game according to the usual tradition, so I have no doubt theyre gonna include lots of special details such as this.

After that Thruster Pack Assassination where you hover and that Plasma Grenade Assassination it would be cool to see the different ways to assassinate a person with different weapons. Imagine choking a grunt out of with the back of an AR? Or even a Brute Shot assassination with that giant bayonet?

I like it make it happen

I’m not that fond of assassinations, but as long as they can be turned off I have no issues with adding as many variations as possible.
