Idk what 343 was really thinking with these new weapon “balances”. The commando doesn’t feel any better and never gave it an actual buff. The BR feels terrible to the point that its not even worth picking up. The pistol used to be a good option but bloom has completely ruined it. Honestly theres no skill gap whatsover anymore if youre going up against ppl who use an AR. They can just laser you from across the map by holding down a trigger. Gameplay is complete garbage. No reward for using a percision weapon and placing shots now. The AR just dominates with low ttk and aim assist. Game is boring and low skill. I used to have some fun playing this game but now it’s just super frustrating. Oh yea and the grenades feel terrible too. Timing has been completely thrown off which is a nightmare for a game that has so many weapons with such quick kill times and all you have to do is hold a trigger down. Its pathetic. And don’t come in here telling me to play ranked bc the ranking system is trash and I have zero fun or desire playing in a competitive playlist when I have no team to run with or incentive to play. Is it really hard to ask for a modern Halo game that rewards players for using skill weapons not just in the competitive playlist? Ya know? Since how thats how every Halo has played since forever?
I never really saw a difference before and after the Battle Rifle change honest. It’s still my go to weapon whenever I can get one. Pistol seems fine for me still too.
I have no real issues taking out people using the AR as well. Exp, if there’s any real range between us.
Commando I was fine with before the update. I’ve seen it win more match ups with both BR or AR fights now after the update, which I’m fine with honestly.
Maybe a controller issue perhaps? I play Keyboard/Mouse…
This is the second post I have seen asking for better weapon balancing. The AR is WAY too strong outclassing everything untill you hit the 70 meters away mark. It is literally a close range MAYBE mid range but thats it.
Too many repeat weapon types, too many semi-power weapons that are too slow to actually be of use against power weapons but aren’t better than any of the medium or long range weapons in terms of rate of fire and TTK

Sure, there are some issues (shock weapons are a cool idea, but bad execution/near useless)
The AR is finally balanced with the BR. At long range, the BR will win. At short range, the AR will win. At medium range, both are fairly even. This is something 343 has been pretty consistent at- it’s good design.
The AR used to be worthless in Halo, especially Halo 3 and Reach. It took more skill to get a kill with the AR than the BR specifically because you had every advantage using the DMR/BR over the AR.
CE’s AR… well, it was okay. Not good, but not worth picking over a pistol.
Managed to get on and play a few games over the last couple of days.
The BR doesn’t feel a lot different. There were a few shots at long range that I felt would usually hit - but nothing overtly frustrating. And at close to mid-range it felt pretty much the same.
I assume that’s what they wanted?
And the commando has definitely been buffed. I managed a few kills with it in Fiesta! It’s still hard to handle if you try and shoot too fast… but it’s something I’ll definitely put a bit more effort into now.
Idk what you’re smoking but the BR feels amazing to me. The AR is finally not useless and easily outclassed by other weapons in their specialties. Seems like you just like to complain.
It is literally considered busted levels of good by the pro community, who… given they get paid to play, know how good something is.

The commando is god like on low ping and literally the best gun in the game. Sidekick is still spam king though close-mid range. They are both better than the AR and the BR in the right hands.
It’s not complaining. It’s criticism of bad weapon balancing. The AR has become a laser beam. Its not supposed to compete with a BR at mid range.

You can check my halo tracker. I usually shoot between 55-60% accuracy or higher. Ever since the “balancing” my accuracy per match seems to have fallen by 10-15% give or take.
I’ve been playing Halo for over a decade. I know how to use a BR. Telling me to get good when its more than obvious that the BR has seen a big dropoff in performace is irrelevant. It feels sluggish and inconsistent in a high speed competitive shooter against other low skill gap weapons with shorter ttks.
You’re talking about players who are in a different stratosphere when compared to the average gamer. I like the commando and use it often. I just dont really notice any decrease in bloom/recoil that 343 said they made changes too. I thought the weapon would’ve played fine the way it was and just decrease its perfect ttk by one less bullet.
All i know is i dont really see how the new Bandit/DMR is really going to fit in with the commando and BR currently. From what I’ve seen its going to be even more sluggish than the BR and less forgiving with missing shots. Not sure if its going to have much utility.
Not even funny how incredibly powerful the commando is now. It absolutely shreds people.
Lack of aim assist was part of the problem. I feel that part has been solved. The other half of the issue is the aiming.
For the most part, the commando does feel much more consistent.
This game HAS skill gap.
It’s pretty obvious the devs “intended” for the AR to compete with the BR at mid-range.
It’s not like it stops you from winning against AR users. It’s just not the norm people are used to.
The BR is a midrange weapon, so why should the AR (a close range weapon) be equal to the BR on midrange? That doesn’t make any sence. The AR definitely is to strong at midrange. It is finaly strong enough for shortrange, that is good, but it’s now to powerfull at midrange. They need to fix that.
Depending on what you consider midrange I guess. But Battle Rifle does well against the AR outside of close range with practice.
The Commando is the one that really competes against the Battle Rifle at mid range now though.

I know better players who say it feels fine - that it is harder to use - and that that’s a good thing. I have to try harder with it now too.

Like the people above here, I am mostly positive with the changes… The Commando is a bit easier to use, the BR a bit harder. Yes, I can feel the difference between the pre-update and the post-update for the BR. And I admit I wish they would keep the pre-update. But I somewhat understand the change and it’s not too bad.
As for the AR, I think it fits incredibly well with the game. As someone mentioned, it’s great with the BR.
Also I like the sidekick the way it is - One of my favorite weapons, Although I agree that the bloom isn’t great. But the bloom area closes real fast, so there is always a way aim better, by pausing shoot after shoot.
It is absolutey not a laser beam its just effective at midrange which is what an ASSUALT RIFLE. (Big keyword here is rifle) should do. Show me on the doll where the assault rifle assaulted you.
