At 4:43 in the Halo cea mutiplayer vidoc 343 said “we were able to replicate the look and feel of the Halo 1 pistol”. We all know now that this is a bold face lie to the community to sell the game. Cross mapping with the new pistol is almost impossible unlike Halo 1. Also I feel like the classic game types should be called swat. I did not get this type of gameplay from Halo ce. I only bought Halo anniversary because I was so sick and tired of AA’s and forge maps. I thought finaly I can play halo like it was ment to be but no. So next time 343 try not to lie to sell your game.
while i think the most valuable part of the port is the campaign, i agree that the classic gametype is so swatty it makes me sick. not everyone likes swat. and it’s no where near a classic halo anniversary gametype.

Please, explain to me how the classic gametype is like “SWAT”. There is no single shot, single kill type of gameplay. It is 3 headshots, just like Halo CE. If there was easy cross-mapping kills, then the new magnum would be SO OVERPOWERED.
I’d have to agree, when I played multiplayer, the pistols where TOO strong, 3 shots to the head and you’re dead. I recall the original pistol taking 5 shots (if all shots where to the head).

I hate anniv. slayer, I hated the MM of the first halo too, I mean, what the -Yoink- are people thinking when they say that the first halo MM was the best? a pistol that can beat anything and having 5 out of 8 of the weapons useless doesn’t make a good multiplayer

both you and your enemy have a pistol. whats the problem? if you die then you suck simple as that. now i wish the pistol could shoot across the map like the original pistol, unfortunately it doesnt .
if it were to be like halo 1, they would have to increase bullet mag to 12 and make it five shot kill to the head. but since they can’t change bullet mag cap they made it 3 shot kill to compensate, and kept bloom, but at a lower percentage so it wouldn’t be too overpowered and swatty
People are forgetting that other weapons are much, much less powerful than in CE. If a true CE pistol, with no bloom and a 12 shot clip was implemented, combined with the small Reach reticule and the horrendously large headshot hitbox, I would be willing to bet that the pistol could beat even the Launcher and the Sniper. Every match would simply be a pistol spamfest and there would be no need to change tactics or weapons whatsoever.

I’m looking at the pathetic excuse for a weapon, the Assault Rifle.
I don’t mind the Reach pistol (the design), but the fact that they kept bloom is not understandable.
CE was so great, because it took so much skill. Now we again have players who spamm the pistol across the map and get lucky 3 shots.
Just reduce bullet spread to the circumference and growth speed it was it Halo: CE and get rid of bloom. Then we can start talking about how much it plays like the original CE pistol.
To be fair, it does feel more like the original CE pistol than any other post-CE Halo game’s pistol. This update only makes that more true.

Nope. 343 said it would be impossible to replicate CE Mag perfectly. Reach’s game engine has a way of being tough to edit apparently.
Maybe 343 needs to make future Halos with easily edited game code so they avoid the “we can’t do that” trap. Adaptable gaming code goes a long way to please the fickle fan bases of the Halo community. It also make creating new armor easily too though there was an explanation a long time ago on B.net on how that can be done with MP maps. All i remember from that post is that 343 should do exactly the opposite of what Bungie did with Reach’s game engine when adding elements that were previously not there. This would avoid the lol 40G downloads for 10 pieces of new armor and imperfect replications of certain OP magnums. 
Hitting 3 headshots with the CE pistol all the time was next to impossible and the pistol also had a limit on it’s range incase you forgot.
OP, i agree 100%. i have no idea how they failed so hard with the classic pistol. the pistol in CE had minimal spread (so small it didnt even matter 90% of the time AT LONG RANGE). the pistol in CE absolutely DID NOT HAVE BLOOM like it does in the CEA classic playlist.
2 things make it blatantly obvious the CEA classic playlist’s pistol is a complete and total failure.
1.) you are supposed to pace, and observe the concept of bloom. in doing so, some of the time you will actually lose to someone who just mashes his R trigger and out-lucks you.
2.) this inconsistency doesnt help anyone. not one person actually benefits from the piss-poor bloom algorithm in the CEA pistol.
3.) this added inconsistency isnt actually better in any way, shape, or form. it doesnt actually add anything to the game aside from inconsistency.
instead of the game being:
shoot better = win
its
shoot better = win, unless they were spamming (which an astonishing amount of people do, by the way), then god knows who will win because the victor is completely and totally random.
its strictly worse, and not debatable. its the exact same as how the default DMR is inherently flawed, only exponentially worse because the pistol’s kill time is a LOT FASTER.

people are thinking halo 1 is the best halo game because the sandbox was balanced, and skill mattered (highest skill gap of any halo game to date, hands down, bar none, not close).
TWO GUNS in the ENTIRE GAME didnt straight BEAT the pistol when used in their niche. these 2 guns have been terrible in every halo game ever made, to date. they are the NEEDLER, and the ASSAULT RIFLE. neither of these guns can actually 1v1 a skilled pistol user, at all.
the rest, and i mean 100% of the rest of the sandbox straight up DESTROYED the pistol.
the reason you dont like halo 1’s multiplayer was probably because you never actually got good enough at it to see things like this. thats the thing about halos 1 and 2. you can whine and moan about things like the pistol being powerful, but at the end of the day, all players start with it, so its fine.
the basis, the foundation, for your entire argument is “BOO HOO YOURE BETTER THAN I AM WITH THE PISTOL SO ITS IMBALANCED”. quite frankly, this is laughable. not only that, if you had actually mastered halo 1, or even played it a little bit, you would know that the rest of the non needler / non AR sandbox decimates this ‘overpowered pistol’.
Reach mechanics are very present in the game, also, with the assist of auto aim (if its in Multiplayer, havent checked properly) it may feel like that.
But hey, they’re will always be complainers.
