Lol is there seriously no way to just turn off notifications for my comments on this post or this post in general? I can adjust my settings but then I won’t get notifications from my own posts.

so when did 343 become EA?

The hackers and smurfs is what worries me the most and it just seems to fly over everyone’s head. I can’t wait for them to revert the color system back the old system but nobody cares bc the game is dead bc hackers have taken over the game.

Yeah I really hope there is either a function in the new Xbox settings (or updated for all models) or specific games that can regulate whether or not you can be matched with PC players. Although there are modded Xbox’s, it is much easier to do on a full scale PC (not saying everyone on PC is doing this, don’t misinterpret what I said please).

Turning crossplay off doesn’t solve the full problem. You turn crossplay off and you get rid of hackers, good for you, but you still have derankers, boosters, and AFK-ers.

Can you imagine people boosting for these color skins

Okay and how do you propose those people
are handled? AFK is pretty well handled by them getting booted after x amount of seconds. The other two there really is no way to deal with since it doesn’t break any rules per-say (as annoying as they are).

2012: They remove playable elites, armor effects, invasion and firefight.

2015: They remove fully customizable emblems and individual armor piece customization. Even -Yoink- SPLIT SCREEN of all things is gone.

2021: They remove the ability to customize your primary and secondary and force stupid pre-made coatings.What. The. -Yoink-. I mean I definitely give 343 credit where it’s due because at least they are trying, but there’re making absolutely stupid decisions in the process. It’s bad enough that Nintendo is doing limited time releases, and Sony making you buy the same games again, along with raising the price to 70$. But halo of all things, Halo the Grandaddy of Xbox gaming and the gaming industry in general can’t rise up from this corporate bull crap -Yoink-. I suppose if they can’t beat’em join’em? Or if you can’t beat’em then buy some of their exclusives?

either way wit everything Xbox has going for them with their game pass and the acquisition of some big name games…it was…INEVITABLE (insert Thanos meme here).

Something they should do would be to keep the individual color choices but also have cool coatings.

example: first and secondary colors and coatings
like a good texture ( glossy, metallic, shiny, wet, toy, wooden) For both armor and weapons

Halo 3 has 30 colors to choose from. Ignoring Halo 3’s tertiary option, between primary and secondary colors you have 900 combinations (27,000 with tertiary). That is for a single “coat.” If Halo infinite had color customization separate from the rest of the coat with 2 or even 3 colors, you have THOUSANDS of combination options.

Now, can you reasonably expect 343 is going to have at LEAST 1000 coatings just to satisfy all the possible color combinations? Not at all, and thats only assuming a SINGLE coat. Now imagine multiple coats. Lets say you had 100 armor coats, but 3 colors you could choose individually, from a pool of 30 colors… You would have 2.7 MILLION combinations between colors and coatings. No amount of “hand-made by our artists” is ever going to reach that.

343 has somehow try to spin this is as “robust” like its somehow going to allow MORE player choice. Quite simply, there is absolutely no way 343 could ever come close to achieving that level of depth in player-choice based customization and also charge money for it. This is as simple as it is, limiting player choice and taking away what we already had before so that you are left so limited that you have to pay money to get what you want.

Having been here a while and seen a thing or two, I’m going to bet that this is just a ripoff of Destiny 2. I would expect the system to function exactly the same at launch, and possibly be changed if the player base dies off. I’ll just stick with MCC and beg them to fix the H3 netcode.

343 claims they value player choice, yet has now taken away the ability to choose our color scheme in multiplayer.
Firstly, I want to continue to voice my disapproval for the coatings system. I simply cannot see how removing player ability to customize their spartan (or elites, hopefully) and LIMITING the color palette available is not only a step backwards in my eyes, but also completely unacceptable. The frustrating thing is that 343 has been removing essential features from Halo for years, and my patience for these removals has run thin: playable elites and firefight in 4, customizable emblems (and no BTB at launch) for 5, retiring the classic magnum and shotgun in Infinite, and now it comes to a head with the removal of the ability to fine-tune your multiplayer character’s color scheme. I want to like Infinite, and 343 has done a phenomenal job with porting and fixing the MCC, but this… I simply can’t help but feel upset by this decision, which is magnified by the fact that most of the coatings we’ve seen so far can (seemingly) only be acquired OUTSIDE of the game, which is to me a worrying sign of how 343 intends to handle the monetization in Infinite. What I would like to know is;

  • Will there be other ways to earn coatings from outside promotions? I loath the idea of spending money at gamestop, or buying an Monster that I physically cannot drink (due to medications) just to be able to acquire the respective color schemes for armor. - Will there be multiple armor coatings with the same color scheme? Going back to my gamestop example, is the coating you get from them the only instance of red and black coloring you can acquire? I sure hope not.If we are stuck with this nonsensical coating system, then I at least hope that said coatings will not be limited by timed promotions, and ideally unlockable after a certain amount of time in-game. Otherwise, this will tread into FOMO, or fear of missing out, territory, which is a feeling that drives me up the wall.

Someone had a link in one of these threads that had literally the most comprehensive list of everything known about Halo from promotions to announcements, dates of trailers, etc that I’ve seen to date . I believe it was listed that these “exclusives” would only be exclusive for the first 3 months after the game launches. After that time they would be available to the general public. This if it is true, is only indicative of how much of a cash grab this game is going to be. I’m not sure if it was in this thread, the main locked thread or every cosmetic we know so far thread. Kuddos to the individual whom posted it originally.

The monetization of halo infinite is probably part to do with the multiplayer being free, this means that they’ll probably be monetizing everything they can. This is bad for people who like to take screenshots and things, or for me even though I do like to take screenshots, I also like to mess with my armor colors occasionally, with coatings, that’s not going really be possible… because now it’ll be determined by preset skins.

If we can mix and match and players have a good amount of colors to start out with (like 30-40), no one will have a problem with this new system. Then maybe we can stick to these cool sets with pre-determined shades like Red Shift which has a bunch of different colors going on while also being able to create our own patterns.

> I don’t know about anyone else, but I just inferred this when I read the post. I think all of the negative sentiment seems to come from people trying to put words in 343 mouths when that doesn’t make sense to do. Like this OP on this forum is essentially saying “Woah woah woah. 343 didn’t explicitly state that they would give us colors to work with by default. I think that means they won’t let us do that.” When any rational person would see the post and assume that yeah, that’s probably the case. I have no idea where people are getting the idea that the color green is going to somehow locked behind a paywall. The hivemind at work, I guess. For example, consider a game like MW, where every gun has a unique set of customization options with the skin, stickers, reticles, etc. with the option to simply unlock a really large amount of these options through gameplay, or the added caveat of getting particularly unique skins through MTX. A system like this is what I immediately assumed was going to happen. I guess I just give 343 the benefit of the doubt? I don’t know why you wouldn’t here.
> I guess for me it’s a matter of saying “You didn’t explicitly say this, but I didn’t think you necessarily needed to say that so I’m going to assume you’re adding that” vs. “You didn’t explicitly say this, does this mean you’re just not going to have anything like this?” which seems like the wrong take to make about the situation completely. It just seems like overreaction for the sake of being upset and I feel like it’s largely a waste of everyone’s time to make this much conjecture about it.

Even what you are suggesting is TERRIBLE. COD’s Customisation has always been sub-par. We want H-A-L-O customisation.

The worst part is the smiling whilst claiming proudly that its robust.

If the Armor Coatings are so great, then people would choose them over primary/secondary anyway right? Then have them both in the game, proove it to us :).

So I see that a lot of people are upset about the armor coatings the armor coatings might not be too bad unless we have to purchase them through req packs that are 99% random however if they let us choose which armor coatings we buy that would be great I also would like to be able to use the armor coatings weapon skins and vehicle skins in campaign

People aren’t too upset about the armor coatings themselves, people are upset about the removal of choosing your primary/secondary colour. It might not be too bad but then they have to proove that asap by showing us the whole deal, explaining it completely. Like HaloFollower and SeanW said, you don’t want to “tease” microtransactions. It’s not a thing people like in the first place.
