I want to make it clear who I speak for, and what my intentions are. This Thread enables us to discuss and get a point across shared by “us” people who do not like this game, and there are many of us, so it’s not something that should be taken lightly. This thread get our points across with the watchful eye of people with different kinds of opinions to ours. I raise a valid point that I believe everyone needs to see. Me speaking for “those” people is purely to make something that everyone can see in one Thread.
What we want is the return of the Halo CE-3 formula with expansion upon it. Halo 4 hasn’t innovated anything and has instead, added to the stale FPS genre by creating a game VERY similar to these so called “Modern day” FPS games that have flooded the Market since 2007.
Halo CE-3 were simple, easy to get into, but difficult to Master. Halo 4 literally requires no effort at all, it’s senseless, mindless, randomised chaos.
People need to get it into their heads that we don’t want a carbon copy of CE-3,Good change, whilst keeping every mechanic that made Halo, Halo is what we want. Instead we got a watered down Hyrbrid game, lacking features that made Halo, Halo. It’s essentially Call of Duty with a Halo Theme.
We got a downgrade from previous games. Halo 3 and Reach had FAR better Custom games and Forge, Fileshare doesn’t even work yet, yet it worked fine in both 3 and Reach. The game is filled with bugs and many issues that need addressing.
I’m about to use the silly labelling here, I’m a competitive player, but I and 90% of us “competitive” players also greatly enjoy Custom games, Forge, Theatre ect. Fun is subjective, I find playing hard, winning, improving, being better than someone fun. I also find custom game madness fun, I mean who doesn’t love the game modes that you could create in Halo 3 and Reach that you can’t create now.
As it stands, this game is very frustrating, when It’s not frustrating the fun doesn’t even last that long. The Game already feels very stale and boring. All these features they added to add variety to the game have done nothing but weaken the fun and playability of the game. They have done the exact opposite for what they were added for.
Nostalgia isn’t what makes us dislike this game, it’s the fact that Halo 2 and 3 were actually very fun and addictive. If the Halo 2 servers were still up, I would quite happily sit and play that game all day, Same with Halo 3, if the population was strong, I would also play that game all day. Halo 4? I haven’t played it for 10days because I have to force myself into “giving it another chance” but every time I do, it’s just the same result every time, I’ll play 3-4 Games then move back onto Black Ops 2, this is both ironic and upsetting because I enjoy Black Ops 2 more than I do Halo 4 and Halo has been my favourite gaming series since I was 10 (when Halo 2 came out, it was my first Halo game)
Edit:
Halo has (or had) a niche.
CoD has a niche.
Battlefield has a niche.
They don’t need to overlap and become basically the same, re-skinned game.
Do you think people in Battlefield would like it if I demanded they removed classes and made all the maps small? Probably not.
Do you think CoD players would like it if I demanded sprint be removed and weapons spawned on the map? Probably not.
Likewise, Halo players do not like it when Halo becomes just another re-skinned version of a Generic FPS. Credit goes to Ramir3z77
Edit 2:
We compare this game with Call of Duty for various reasons, one being Ordnance.
Ordnance is much like care packages, they share the same effects on the game. For example you could get 2 equally skilled teams fighting one another for victory, both being in line with one another, then suddenly one of the teams gets a better ordnance drop then the other team, which can then suddenly change who the Victor is. This is a huge problem because the dice throwing essentially throws aside the opposing teams skill. The same can be said when one team is more skilled than the other, the weaker team could get lucky on the weapons and thus brush aside the better teams effort and skill.
It happens in Call of Duty a lot, if I’m on the losing team and I suddenly get a Swarm from a care package, I essentially have won the game for us without any effort, whether it be when the teams are equal or when the teams are different in skill. The dice throwing just isn’t Halo at all.
