Games as a service are notorious for failing to hit their stride until around the 1-2 year mark after release.
Infinite will get there eventually.
Mind you, from what some people in the know about 343’s development strategies for this game have said… It seriously sounds like the game was screwed by very poor decisions specifically towards how contract workers have been handled.
10 years to drip feed bare minimum content. Oh joy!

That’s not true. Warzone was amazing from launch until about 6-8months in when it became a snipe fest. Rebirth brought a new map and mode which was good. But by year 2, Black ops guns messed the entire game up.
Apex was great at launch and only improved moving forward adding more characters and maps.
Maybe your point applies to Fortnite. But the BR was good from the get go just a little empty. Season 2 and forward turned it into the most popular game and made Epic the fastest billion dollars in gaming history.
Maybe y’all do, but this was my last straw with 343.
Excited to see 343 dissolved and have Bethesda take over as the Microsoft’s flagship developer!

All 3 of those are games that shipped with multiplayer only (at least at first, Fortnite’s PvE was in beta), one multiplayer map, and one gametype (or at the most a solo, and team version of that one gametype). And in all those games the first year of content came with some new guns, new skins, and alterations to their one map. It wasn’t until year two that Fortnite for example really pushed modern features like the Battle Pass, new game modes to mix things up, and all the crazy crossover events.
Games that focus on a blend of PvE and PvP, and with said pvp being more traditional fps style with several game modes and maps, like Destiny, Division, and Infinite, always disappoint in the first year or so. Being blasted for poor amounts of content more than anything, despite hilariously having significantly more content that Battle Royale games.

Well I never said they would be free.
Most of that will be in the shop. 343 isn’t that generous.
For anyone that thinks 343 wouldn’t sell Maps or game modes, Halo 4. Halo 4 sold maps and game modes as DLC.
I didn’t mean it would be free. I meant I doubt they will get that far before MS pulls the plug.
Ah, yes, the old bank and yank. Make profit, pull the plug. Kickstarter projects love to do that too. I’m actually surprised MCC is still around, since they aren’t making any money from it, and you can get the entire MCC collection for $16 on Steam when it’s on sale.
That is objectively incorrect. And I’m sure you can see where I’m headed.
Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War.
I bet you thought I was going to say Elden Ring, didn’t you. Well, as it happens, while COD BWCW was flawed in a number of ways, the fact remains that when Treyarch took over, they were able to release seasons at least once every three months. With each season containing either at least a few game modes or maps (for both multiplayer and zombies). Not to mention mid-seasonal updates that added other content that people like.
Oh, and each and every season was free. Not too shabby for a regular price game.
We’re just going to have to accept that 343 is pretty much incompetent when it comes to a live service game.
This is on management, not the devs. To say it’s on everyone at the company is utterly simple and stupid.
This makes me wonder how they planned these 10 years. Looks like they wanted to pad out missing modes and features previous games had, over the span of the 10 years, and call it content. Content that should have been there at launch. Of course that might be wrong, but that is what it feels like honestly.
This game needed to be delayed again. I do not know who called the shots to release it like this, but this needs to stop. Too many games are suffering due to being released earlier than they should have been.

Right like like of they were going through crunch we would have way more content.
Like there are telling us they Crunched hours and still gave us a very gutted version of their newest Halo Game.
Look After Elden Ring I’m calling BS on so many Devs. Its possible to produce a fully fleshed out game.
And people say well it’s a live service, as of that is an excuse to withhold day one content so it can be slowly trickled out.
Like the game should of had All Day one Content, and the live service would have been extra after that.
Idk what’s going on over at 343 but it seriously seems they are way in over their head. It’s like the whole company needs a full reset and restructuring. While having a solid dedicated team with one clear vision and no distractions. If it takes time it takes time.
Yup that’s it right there.
Halo 5 we had 60 default color choices
Halo Infinite the took 50 of those away an flocked them behind a paywall. Locked to each core to pad their content out with default colors

Lets hope, as long whoever is responsible for this mess never get to touch a game again. Would be a damn shame if they were to get their hands on a different franchise and ruin it as well

I miss classic shotgun so much. It was so satisfying to flatten an energy sword wielder lunging towards you in one shot
At the end of the day the buck stops at 343. I am a manager myself and you have to take credit when things are going well but also you have to have accountability when things aren’t going well.
When my back is to the wall I lean on my staff and I also help in shared goals and objectives. You battle and push through. You don’t put your hands up or settle for less like 343 has. I don’t kick the can down the road etc. I’m not saying everyone at 343 is bad etc but the game, it’s development and the post release content isn’t being overseen or run well.
