we should get a Halo 4 beta

I think we should get a halo 4 multiplayer beta.So we see how 343i is evolving halo and how there doing it.I want a halo 4 beta so I can see if I like it or hate it because I want to see if AA’s and everything else is going to in the multiplayer.I’m not to happy with some of the changes. What do you guys think.

Yes. We should. But. We’re not.

Didnt they already say there wont be one?

Unfortunately, we are not getting a beta, but if 343i believes they do not need one, then I trust them completely.

> Yes. We should. But. We’re not.

This.

I’m on the fence on if there should be a beta or not, H2 had no beta and was great game, And im sure people would agree with that. Will this make it good?? Who knows.
But looking at recent betas for games, Did anyone else here play the battlefield 3 beta? I thought it was horrible and did not end up buying it on release. But come Christmas i end up getting it and think its probably the best FPS around at the moment on console, Completely different to the beta version. I know it was only a beta and should not be looked at too seriously in terms of the final product, But i think in the case of BF3 i believe it hurt its sales on release. This could be the same for H4, Yes we would all like to see how and what changes have been made, But would it do more harm than good for the game.

They are not going to have one. To me it’s a good idea.

Like I said in another thread, a beta should be in EVERY game, it allows the crowd to interact with the development of the game (In terms of balancing and overall changes), it is also good for the developers because the untold millions that will play the beta will offer better feedback that the 50+ internal testers at 343i. It also gives the fanbase a chance to test the game and see what they like/don’t like about it before they spend X amount of money on the game.

343i’s excuse for not having a beta is stupid, because having a beta will improve the development and the overall game a lot more than they think.

However, it is unlikely that there will be a Halo 4 beta, because they have already confirmed that there will not be one.

nope like they said theres too much on there schedule

343i probably has their reasons for not giving out a beta. Look at the way the community has reacted so far the information given. They are probably wanting to give us the information in slow bits, giving us the worst one first. My geuss, and this is only a geuss, is they are doing it like this so that we as a community can slowly digest this information. Were they to give us all the information at one time, i dont think that anyone would be able to have a sensible discussion on these forums. They would be so overloaded that in two minutes the threads would be n the third page.

This is pure speculatin however. Sorry if i am wrong.

There won’t be a public beta. Oh well…

We aren’t getting a beta so too bad.

If it pushed out the game release until some time next year, would you still want a Beta?

> If it pushed out the game release until some time next year, would you still want a Beta?

Yes, if it will remove most of the bugs and balance some of the weapons that will be inevitable problems at launch. Its like deciding to sell an inferior product.

Having a final opinion on a beta release instead of the final product?
Da faq

An external Beta isn’t worth the time of the dev team. Also, the concept of feedback from the fanbase at large is dubious at best. Most people won’t make any comment, and those that do are more often than not either jumping on a hater bandwagon, or spewing out tonnes of hyperbole over the OPness of a gun they loathe purely because they got killed with it a lot in their last game. Or, my personal favourite, moaning about host. To a lot of people, ‘host’ simply means ‘an excuse I use to complain when somebody on the other team is better than me, which I think has some technical explanation somewhere’. I mean, I remember a thread on the Reach Beta forum claiming the entire enemy team had host.

Contrast this with internal game testers. They take up less time and effort, they’re not going to moan about the fact they’re playing an incomplete game, and they offer detailed reports and use statistical analysis along with personal experience to determine whether certain weapons are overpowered or maps unbalanced.

It’s a no-brainer.

> If it pushed out the game release until some time next year, would you still want a Beta?

yes. Yes i would.

Partly because 343 would probably need the few more months to fix things so that people would actually buy the game.

Been saying this for a month now

> If it pushed out the game release until some time next year, would you still want a Beta?

Well they say it takes what a month for a beta to do one. If say game comes out 6 or 13 of Nov (which is very reasonable but depends on black ops2 cuz they come out in early Nov for marketing purposes) it would still come out before Christmas and must say would maybe even up the sells that would be hurt from people dislikeing a beta i.e. bf3 so I can see a up side and a down side to both arguments. Bf3 beta turn me off and I still down have it.

I honestly voted “I’m not sure” yes I think it would be awesome to have one, but at the same time, I know what it’s like to be heading into crunch time and having to accomplish one goal with everything else being optional.

I don’t want them pushing the game back father. All we currently know is that it’s to be released by the end of this year. If having a beta means it’s out later than that, I honestly don’t know if I want one or not.
