We really need to have an option in our settings to TURN OFF cross-play

I play Halo on my Xbox. And Halo is supposed to be a balanced arena shooter where everyone spawns equally and has equal stats, where skill and luck determines the victor.

But when you pitch controller players against M&K players, the M&K players tend to be the victor. And honestly, like with LITERALLY EVERY OTHER FPS game out there that offers cross-play between Console and PC, we need the option to turn that crap off !

“Oh but Console players have it easy! You have aim assist!”

Granted, yes, Console players do have that as an option. Personally I turn that crap off. My issue is the fact that Mouse-&-Keyboard has unrestricted camera controls. Horizontal and Vertical set to the fastest possible settings that the game allows. And yet, I cannot just wheel my Spartan around as fast as I have seen the M&K players do.

In a game where being melee-struck in the back is instant death, it is SO ANNOYING to be just about to do such an act only for your target to suddenly spin around and make you the kill instead. It is even worse when you are actively targeting one another, and the M&K player jumps over you. Because despite still being still on my screen, they are able to look down fast enough before my character-model reacts to my action of looking up to aim at them.

Do you know what this results in? A BS kill as they are able to technically still be in front of me, but since my character is facing forwards and Spartans have backpieces that jut out, they can melee strike my spine’s hitbox for that sweet instakill.

I died three times to this BS method of “I am in technically front of you, but I can still punch your spine from up here” tactic. You can’t do that with a controller. And you cannot just suddenly spin around and do a 180-degree turn within two frames. And yet, I see players do this which makes the game imbalanced. When I am fighting against controller players, I notice that the fights are a lot more enjoyable.

When I am fighting PC players, I notice that I am on the short end of just about every encounter thinkable. I am up close and personal? They can instantly spin around and lay their fire upon me (fun fact, it also seems that your shield’s damage tolerance is weaker from behind as well). I am across the map and moving erratically to avoid sniper-fire? Mouse-players can be far more accurate than controller players.

In summary.
343… … … for once you made a good game.
A good game that is sullied by the fact that you are missing some features that are the industry standard.

You are exactly correct.

“Strong halo aim assist” lol don’t come over here and speak such nonsense. Compared to anything pre H5, there is next to none and everybody knows it.

Calling people a bum because they don’t want to play against people on different platforms (it’s a legitimate issue.)

Idiot

You are just a bum if you are complaining about the aim assist, plain and simple. There is no legitimate issue with crossplay besides m&k having a disadvantage

Lol. (extra words to finish post).

I take it that you’re an M&k elitist and you want crossplay left on so you can get free kills by abusing halo’s core mechanics like the ninja back whack

you are just a bum if you have anything against m&k

my guy a bum wouldn’t use an elite V2

Nobody would be at a disadvantage if people played on their own damn platforms.

All crossplay does is create balancing issues.

also the only thing I have against M&K is that i have no choice but to play against them

It’s obviously not helping you if you are complaining about m&k. Notice how no pros use m&k on this game? take the hint child

no it is helping cause i stopped playing this game 2-3 weeks ago and I’ll only come back when they have fixed it or maybe when season 2 starts

I prefer no PC Crossplay, the Crossplay console players wanted was suppose to be with PlayStation, not PC. Microsoft is just pushing this failure of a crossplay because they have a stake in PC products.

You know what though, the whole M&K versus Controller argument brings up a question… maybe this is why a majority of cheaters in Forced PC/Console Crossplay, are PC players… Maybe the M&K really is inferior to the controller, so these PC players require cheats to be better than console players or maybe they should just buy a controller instead of cheat programs and stop complaining.

Controller is a massive advantage in this game. Get good.

I’ve been playing Halo since 2002.

I would also like to point out the fact that playing M&K on a console shooter has been considered cheating on every other shooter game out there and a bannable offense.

And even when these other games offered cross-play, they were kind enough to allow us to turn that off in order to keep balanced gameplay. 343 has yet to add such a feature to this game.

If you want to see how unbalanced M&K camera controls are compared to that of an Xbox game, I dare you to play a game of Rainbow Six Siege on Xbox and then play it on PC. You would certainly notice a severe change in accuracy and player camera speeds.

The fact of the matter in Halo’s Sandbox is that the max settings I can spin my Spartan around in Halo Infinite is PEANUTS compared to how fast a mouse can spin your character around. If you see someone approaching you on your radar from behind in a game where being back-slapped is an insta-kill, the speed of which that player spins around GREATLY changes how dangerous that scenario is.

This is a logical fallacy. He’s asking to play against only console players with controllers, therefore by your logic would be facing even more difficult opponents, because controller has such an advantage.

So what if he wanted to disable cross play because PC players are GGEZ and he needs a challenge?

Lmao. This couldn’t be more wrong.

For the first time in competitive FPS gaming history, controllers are “better” than M&KB. Lol

That is likely due to Halo starting off as a console shooter and PC is only NOW getting really into Halo as a shooter.
Outside of the pretty crap ports of Halo CE and Halo 2 in the early 2000s, mainstream PC Halo has only been a thing once the Master Chief Collection was added to PC in 2019. Not really much of a chance for a Pro League to be made from the PC gamers with only a few years to be done.

Given that the Halo Championship started on Xbox, it makes sense that the Pros would want to play on familiar gamepads and not have to relearn muscle-memory all over again just to learn how to M&K.

I agree there should be a general option to select vs controller or crossplay.
As for me who was yet not lucky to get a Xbox series x but able to get a RTX 3070ti would love to stick to my PC as the general performance is better than on the Xbox.
Halo started as a controller based game and should stick to it. You want to go Pro in Halo pick up a controller and lets go. I am sorry to say that but thats my opinion.

Edit: I play with the Xbox controller on PC. Yet I did not encountered the problems the OP mentioned.
