I play Halo on my Xbox. And Halo is supposed to be a balanced arena shooter where everyone spawns equally and has equal stats, where skill and luck determines the victor.
But when you pitch controller players against M&K players, the M&K players tend to be the victor. And honestly, like with LITERALLY EVERY OTHER FPS game out there that offers cross-play between Console and PC, we need the option to turn that crap off !
“Oh but Console players have it easy! You have aim assist!”
Granted, yes, Console players do have that as an option. Personally I turn that crap off. My issue is the fact that Mouse-&-Keyboard has unrestricted camera controls. Horizontal and Vertical set to the fastest possible settings that the game allows. And yet, I cannot just wheel my Spartan around as fast as I have seen the M&K players do.
In a game where being melee-struck in the back is instant death, it is SO ANNOYING to be just about to do such an act only for your target to suddenly spin around and make you the kill instead. It is even worse when you are actively targeting one another, and the M&K player jumps over you. Because despite still being still on my screen, they are able to look down fast enough before my character-model reacts to my action of looking up to aim at them.
Do you know what this results in? A BS kill as they are able to technically still be in front of me, but since my character is facing forwards and Spartans have backpieces that jut out, they can melee strike my spine’s hitbox for that sweet instakill.
I died three times to this BS method of “I am in technically front of you, but I can still punch your spine from up here” tactic. You can’t do that with a controller. And you cannot just suddenly spin around and do a 180-degree turn within two frames. And yet, I see players do this which makes the game imbalanced. When I am fighting against controller players, I notice that the fights are a lot more enjoyable.
When I am fighting PC players, I notice that I am on the short end of just about every encounter thinkable. I am up close and personal? They can instantly spin around and lay their fire upon me (fun fact, it also seems that your shield’s damage tolerance is weaker from behind as well). I am across the map and moving erratically to avoid sniper-fire? Mouse-players can be far more accurate than controller players.
In summary.
343… … … for once you made a good game.
A good game that is sullied by the fact that you are missing some features that are the industry standard.
