We never did see the Sharqoui..

This is one of the things in Halo that has most intrigued me. Any ideas on what it is? Maybe we’ll see it in Halo 4?

I’ll be honest; I had no idea what that was, so I just looked it up on Halo.wikia.com.

Anyway, they sound very mysterious. They might have been scrapped after all this time, though…

There are a couple things I think it could be.

Something similar to Guta or Lekgolo, that the Covenant tamed and taught to fight.
Some form of chemical-warfare.
Something totally different.

I’ve always thought of it as some sort of Covenant planet-killer, like a NOVA bomb.

Or, (theoretically), it could be a reverse-engineered Halo, much like how beam rifles are reverse-engineered Sentinel Beams.

Hmm… I never thought of that.

It might be some sort of Covenant nuke, or maybe a formation of Covenant units in a specific way? The Sangheili were talking about “forcing the humans into a smaller arena than they care to fight in” or something to that effect, and they mentioned that soon they will BE ABLE to use the Sharqoui. To me, this implies that the Sharqoui can only be used in ground warfare or in the air, or in some other “small” place.

Yeah, I thought of that as well… That also supports JotunCorp’s theory of a mini-Halo.

one Halo covered 25000 light years IIRC. And although they are big, if they were smaller than that, they’d still be utterly devastating. If the covenant had a weapon like that they would have used it. If you pulled the size of a halo to even a 3rd of it’s normal size, it would still cover roughly 8500 Light years, what need would they have to enter the system? I always imagined it to be some kind of biological entity. Since any weapon of technology could easily do the job they needed. A modern nuke can take out 3 square miles? A future one could probably do 10-15. A covenant style with plasma and the better energy could do around 20-30? Dropping any bombs would be destructive enough to get rid of most of the opposition.

But since it seems the idea got scrapped, it doesn’t seem we’ll ever know.

I just wanna see a pheru…

> I just wanna see a pheru…

Well in a way, you are seeing one every time you see Flood.

(or at least their descendants)

Maybe the sharquoi are the new antagonists of Halo 4 that are supposedly more powerful than the rest of the Covenant. I’m probably wrong, though.

Yeah, you probably are. Interesting theory, though!

I’m really hoping it’s an alien race, not a formation or weapon.
Perhaps the replacement for the Sangheili, as a threat, in the new trilogy? (only a thought)

Also I would like to see the Drinol make a return.

Frankie mentioned on HaloGAF that as a primary writer of Conversations of the Universe, it still has continued relevance…

Which makes me hopeful that the Sharquoi might still be explained.

Could you post a link to the actual post? The link you posted requires a username and password. I don’t have NeoGaf…

It was obviously in the Halo 2 but only in code as they scraped it. But here’s a video of someone who turned the code for it on. Might not be the real species but at least the flood form. Pretty cool but I sure wouldn’t wanna fight it.

I thought the Flood Juggernaut was supposed to be an infected Hunter.

Hunters are virtually impossible to infect, because they are worms.

But you’re right. I do see striking similarities.

Unfortunately I can’t find the original thread link, but I’ll just quote below… in response to this post:

“I [Frankie] wrote almost all of Conversations and none of it is wasted. There are constant connections and there will be more in the future.”
