As a HUGE fan of both the original Halo formula, and the one 343 has boldly produced with Guardians, I want there to be two main options. That being Halo, and Halo: Evolved. If a new Halo game wants to be successful, it needs to cater to both types of fans. It may be hard work, but you need two different main ways of experiencing multiplayer wrapped up in one glorious game. I love the original Halo trilogy,
2 having the best campaign, and 3 having the best multiplayer. But I also love the new, 343 Halo. The best campaign of ALL the games being Halo 4, and then Halo 5 having (maybe not the definitive best) but most polished and skill-based multiplayer. Whole legacy of Halo is sheer glory in terms of FPS. 343 took a brace step and made the story of 4 almost RPGish. I finally felt like I was an actual character in the Halo universe. Many old fans, like I am, will argue that Chief is solely a hollow vessel- but I side with 343, he’s so much more than that. The character development in 4 was amazing. The writing, amazing. The graphics? Phenomenal. That’s why it’s such a shame that 5 is a downgrade from 4. But players deserve ALL ways of Halo. Original design AND the new, sleeker design. Let us have both. Everyone can be happy, and the percentage of fans that absolutely love and want more of both, well, we’ll be the happiest of all
It would be like if Mcdonald’s put lemon slices on their burgers, and then some people didn’t like it but others did, so they started putting them on only one half of each burger in an attempt to please “both types of fans”

That’s an odd analogy but not necessarily a bad one so I’m just gunna go along with it.
What are you asking for exactly in terms of multiplayer? Do you want it be playable in classic and modern gameplay or?
This really just causes more division on an attempted compromise (which 343s already been trying to do in other ways).
I don’t want one game being split like that, what are the odds that you can have playlists for everything that can fit both styles? You’re also balancing them differently as classic and modern don’t play alike. This just gives 343 more work which I don’t think they’re capable of as they already have problems as is. I’d rather they go all out one way or the other, it’s either that or Microsoft picks up another studio to make the other styled games and 343 does whatever 343 does.
Splitting a game into modern/classic really would kill my interest in even trying the game. 343 either goes classic and my interest goes way up, or they stick what reach, H4 and H5 were and I’ll at least know I’m not the intended audience and I can put my time into other shooters. You can’t compromise by splitting a game, it’s to much work for the devs and honestly it’s unfair towards the fans as they’re not going to get the true experience.

Hahahaha analogy of the year

I disagree with this right here.
Everything else I agree with.

Not the best but definitely one of the better ones of the line

True. I find the poor Legendary balancing and lack of meaningful Promethean weapon variety to be it’s biggest problem.
I still consider Halo 2 to be the best Halo campaign out of all of them.
And I could talk at length about why I think that.

I agree about Halo 2 being the best, followed by Halo CE.

I think as far as chachther development goes then 4 is good for that, personally I loved 2 campaign
That’s just not possible and it would do nothing but create problems. For starts they would have to make maps that are built for classic movement and advanced movement. Then in order for it function properly they would have to have weapons tailored to each play style. This would do nothing good expect split the community even further because some would only play classic and some would only play advanced movement. 343 needs to decide which play style would be best for halo going forward and I and many others believe that going back to classic play style would be best.

Hi for the longest of time I agreed with you on this topic, but then I considered the other side to its full potential
- Problem 1: Building Maps for Classic and Advanced Movement Solution: 343 used a technique in Halo 5 called remixing of maps in order to minimize development time (Halo 5 had this because of how difficult the modified Blam! Engine was for development) with the streamline of SlipSpace and the longer development time literally copying and pasting maps and modifying it for a playstyle could be quite reasonable.
- Problem 2: Weapons tailored for each type Solution: In Halo: Combat Evolved their is a patch that modifies the values of all the weapons in Halo Combat Evolved (I don’t know if MCC is still like this, but the patch was missed at launch causing the Magnum to operate like its campaign version) this was done 17 years ago and could adequately be completed for Halo Infinite.
- Problem 3: It further splits the community Solution: The Master Chief Collection is currently implemented with a Match Composer which if implemented in Halo Infinite could deal with population issues effectively in a more robust version.
- Note: I do not have any current allegiance to any playstyle simply that I enjoy competitive skill based first person shooter games. That is why I really enjoy Halo 5 more than the classic Halo games. If Halo Infinite offers some form of competitive gameplay equivalent or greater than Halo 5, I will be happy.

I have grown a lot since I posted this, but to answer your question, I think the next Halo game needs to be baseline like the original trilogy. In terms of multiplayer. Infinite, RPG design for campaign- but classic, Halo 3 multiplayer. The reality of the situation is that FPS fans are sick of the same, regurgitated game over and over. Every year a new FPS comes out that doesn’t blow your mind, but tries “new”, yet totally unnecessary things that no one asked for to begin with. It’s a way to keep people distracted with things they don’t want to subtract from the things they do want.
