We need more females than just Cortana...

Just to be honest from the first line: I hate - explaining why will fill tons of pages, so I skip this point.
But anyway: I think we need more females than just Cortana in H4.

I say this for more than 8 months or somethink like that.
In the games there was only annoying Cortana… and the commander keyes… but she get kicked by the prophet. And well… that was not a to big loss, she was nearly the same like cortana… same way of: annoying.

I think we need an other female character in the game(s). I don’t care if it is a forerunner lady, some kind of UNSC-princess :stuck_out_tongue: or even something even more crazy. I just think: chief should not be left alone with that bot cortana.
I hope she dies in halo 4, or mc has to kill her (hooray!).

But even if you like her:
Halo was always a game of different ways and decisions… so why are there not more females in the game? Males are more than enaugh there… like in ODST.

(I don’t count reach… cuz there is no MC in the game… so it is out of the line.)

Or just make a complet female team for halo odst-2 :stuck_out_tongue:
… guess it won’t happen… to bad.

Theres been more females than you think… Like Kat, Dare and Dr. Halsey.(I don’t think you mentioned them)

But I do agree with you to a certain point.

I understand what you are saying, but you need to work on your english.

I don’t really care. Adding female characters for the sake of having them is stupid.

Well, to be fair, the only reason Cortana is in Halo is fan-service.

Bungie, even back then, knew how anti-social and fail most gamers were, so they said “Hey! Here’s this naked space lady we put in the game!!!” to…you know…and get more sales.

If they could make an actually…decent female character, I’d welcome it. Halo does need more, but so far it’s been just another “ooh luk at teh purdy gurl!!!” marketing sham.

You should take note that (If I remember the books correctly) that the leader of the UNSC Infinity is female. Should be pretty compelling in Halo 4.

(I find it amusing that Bungie spackled on the excuse “She makes her self look like that to supprise people and knock them off their guard!”

Really?

lolbungie

> I don’t really care. Adding female characters for the sake of having them is stupid.

No. Fictional work with only one gender of characters can seem off-balance.

Yeah, I actually don’t appreciate the choice to have Cortana naked-ish.
And I see what you mean. Even in today’s military, women play an important role, just as all service members do. Why can’t that happen in the future.

xD

I think you’re talking about Paragonsky, who is a high-ranking officer in ONI. The captain of the ship is Andrew Del Rio.

Actually, that was Frankie. But is it that much of a stretch for Cortana to use her Avatar to win debates and arguments?

They do play important roles, though. Many major characters are female.

This is how I felt in Halo 3: I’m sorry, but your AI is in another castle!

So in Halo 4 I’d just love to see more having to go to other castles to rescue other princesses. Maybe even some platforms to jump on and turtles to kill by stepping on!

The Michelle Rodriguez and Laura Prepon Marines weren’t good enough for you? D:

But if I recall correctly, Bungie made that backstory.

Also, yeah, pretty much. Have you ever played Mass Effect 2? If you haven’t, look up some forums on a character named “Miranda Lawson”

They basically made “the perfect girl” and came up with a ton of BS to prevent it from being called fan-service.

It was total fan-service.

Frankie worked for Bungie around the CE days.

Would it be nice if we saw some realistic and independent female characters – ones that didn’t exist solely as hyper-attractive sidekicks/love-interests to uber-masculine superiors? Absolutely.

Will it happen in a mass-market first-person shooter created by a big-name dev? Probably not. :frowning:

How about Halsey, Paragonsky, Miranda, or any of the female Spartans? They are all intelligent and independent female characters.

You’re right; I should’ve been more specific. There are some good female characters in Halo, but not nearly as many as there are good male characters.

Hell, even throwaway female characters are rare. I’ve played the Halo 3, ODST, and Reach campaigns a ton and I can count the number of female Marines I’ve ever seen in any of those playthroughs on one hand.

Notable males in the games
Chief
Emile
Jorge
Carter
Mickey
Rookie
Buck
Romeo
Johnson
Jacob Keyes
Thel 'Vadam (Arbiter)
Rtas 'Vadum (Half-jaw)
Stacker
Reynolds
Didact
343 Guilty Spark
2401 Penitent Tangent
Gravemind
Mendicant Bias
Offensive Bias (presumably)
Prophet of Truth
Prophet of Regret
virtually all Covenant infantry seen in the games
the overwhelming majority of Human infantry seen in the games

Notable females in the games
Cortana
Halsey
Kat
Miranda Keyes
Dare
Librarian
Auntie Dot

Halo may have some notable female characters, but not nearly enough (compared to the number of memorable males) to really qualify as a game series with decent gender diversity… And with gaming culture, and stereotypes about the audience, being the way they are, I don’t think it’s likely to change. :\
