We need Minigames in the campaign

I haven’t play a game in ages with fun Minigames inside like geometry wars in PGR. Wouldn’t it be fun to find a arcade machine in the infinity and play HOOM(doom+halo) or some other fun random game.

It would have been cool in the Bungie days if we played ONI or Marathon. But i think they will think it would be a waste of time or if they tried a Doom-Halo thing. Copyright issues would exist

Actually I’d rather they fix the gameplay before adding any more. Especially something like this that isn’t needed.

~ Duck.

No, we don’t NEED minigames. I’m all for Easter eggs, but they shouldn’t be something that the developer spends a lot of time on. I’d much rather they spend their time working on the story itself and shaping the characters. There is no need for rampant and pointless silliness.

I can’t think of anything worse… This isn’t the Wii, we don’t need mini games, there are some alternatives though, Jack.

Try Halo: Spartan Assault if you haven’t already, it’s a twin stick shooter that plays quite like geometry wars, with a Halo theme…

343 needs to invest all their time in the campaign and multiplayer, Halo has no place for mini game gimmicks as it would just slow the pace of the game down.

You don’t NEED anything.

You would like, or you would like to request something. I’m getting a little tired of the entitlement of Halo fans who think they NEED certain things in the next Halo game or else it will be bad or the whole world is going to end.

As for the minigame, I’d rather not. It wouldn’t fit into the Halo universe having Master Chief huddled over an arcade machine.

I would like some kind of mini-game, like there is in Dead Space 3. One person has to solve it while the other has to protect him against, the flood for example.

Take a look at how it plays out in Dead Space 3 right here:

When me and my friend played we probably played on a higher difficulty which meant infinite zombies.

I remember how the dialog between me and my friend went when encountered that room and mini-game for the first time:

It really makes for funny and exciting moments.

Me: eeeh, dude, zombies are coming!

Me: HEEEELP!

Friend: Im stuck! Im stuck!

Me: Seriously, help mee!!

Friend: HOW DO I GET OUT OF THIS?

Me: DUDE, I AM GOING TO DIE NOW!

Me: Do something …

Friend: I don’t get it.

Me: Yup, I’m dead …

For people who haven’t played dead Space 3, the person doing the puzzle can’t get out of it, unless he solves it, or dies.

Campaign is canon, gameplay is not. Otherwise, Master Chief fooling around, teabagging enemies for long periods of time, and intentionally hurting self and friendlies would be canon as well. Recall the first mission of Halo 4, where Chief can go downstairs in the first minute of Dawn and access his own past history.

Although I feel they should spend the time on other aspects of the game, I would very much enjoy playing a little mini game in the campaign. It’s absolutely unnecessary, but I still think it would be pretty cool to see something like that, especially if it was recycled from a mini game during multiplayer black screens as another topic suggested.

I dunno why a few people seem bothered about me saying “need” it’s not a big deal it’s just a title I made .

Anyway 343i have more than enough employees to make a few Minigames without sacrificing anything, they could have a couple of people create a few minigames with no problems or they could hire certain affinity to make a few mini games. Bungie made a theatre mode and a forge mode without sacrificing anything, so why can’t 343i make a few minigames?

Because it would be distracting and silly for a game that is said to be the darkest Halo game yet. Not every silly idea you have needs to be put in this game.

Dead space manage to do this without distracting anyone and it’s one of the most darkest games you can play.

Except it actually fits in Dead Space 3.

Issac Clarke is an engineer, and the Dead Space trilogy relies heavily on him using his engineering experience to solve a variety of puzzles that involve fixing things, clearing blockages, finding things, etc. It works in that game. It’s what Issac does.

The Master Chief… not so much. Especially with the kind of gameplay Halo has, Chief suddenly lowering his weapon and fixing a broken panel is distracting, breaks the flow, and is completely out of character. It really just doesn’t work in the campaign with Chief.

It might work better in Spartan Ops/Firefight. Think like Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer. Complete tasks and puzzles as the other players defend you. It could work better then, and wouldn’t quite be out of character for the player, if there’s even a character.

What I see in that video is nowhere near as drastic as recreating DOOM in Halo, as one of your suggestions sad. Gameplay puzzles are one thing, Chief taking a break to play skeeball is a different matter.

Right, because here was nothing silly in any of the other Halo games.

Wait…

The OP has made a lot of suggestions over the past few months and they are just pointlessly silly in my opinion. The funny stuff in the past has actually been somewhat clever. And that isn’t to say in something like Spartan Ops this would be unacceptable, it had a much lighter tone than the main Halo 4 campaign. Let Chief be serious and let Crimson -Yoink- around with skeeball or whatever.

I’m sure Jack didn’t literally mean the game needed minigames. It just made for a catchy title.

So what are we talking about here…

This sounds exactly like something 343i would do. They’re probably ticked they didn’t think of it first. They’re certainly no strangers to pointless and silly ideas. Frankly, after playing the campaign for the umpteenth time, a minigame might just be a welcome break. It’s not like it would be required to beat the level.

Honestly.

Easter eggs, sure. Didn’t CE have something like this?

But the impression we were getting was playing a tetris game (like the Dead Space 3 example) to clear a blockage in the path.

That just doesn’t fit with the Halo campaign.

Jumping through a bunch of hoops and then pressing a button in a hard to reach location to load a Halo-themed tetris game? Sure! Easter eggs are great.

No…I do not want Minigames in Campaign. It would be a waste of time, and somewhat ridiculous, if you think about it, lol. However, not to go overboard, but special challenges, would be better.

I wouldn’t do so in the campaign, but in SpOps why not?
For teh lolz right?
As far as I’m concerned Crimson can do whatever they want and be ridiculous, but minigames just as a joke shouldn’t be in the campaign unless it has a more serious tone towards it.

Yes for the lolz

If people you want to have a some logic behind it you could have stumble across a data pad on the ground and play a minigame on it. That is what they sort of did with reach and also that was the logic of spartan assault
