Long time Grifball player on Halo 5 here and I just want to say that Grifball needs to be in Halo Infinite! I really hope we can see a stable Grifball playlist with 343 supporting the dedicated Grifballers that have been playing for years and want it back in matchmaking! I played over 13,000 games across 2 accounts on Halo 5 Grifball and it was devastating seeing them take it away from us and make it a rotational that shows up whenever they feel like adding it back in. They also made it rotational in MCC as well so its a huge punch to the face for people that strictly played Grifball (and believe me, theres a lot of us). I met a lot of people on xbox through Grifball from its release on Halo 5 all the way until they took it away back in late 2017. I’ve never lost hope but I really hope 343 takes a second to realize that Grifball has been here since Halo 3 and its a staple gametype that needs to stay in the game and not be taken away from us. There was many excuses as to why Grifball was removed in Halo 5 but with Halo Infinite these excuses from 343 become invalid and we need to see some much needed changes from a company standpoint to keep this gamemode alive and PERMANENT in Halo Infinite! I can only hope but please if you agree or have something to say about this please comment I really would love to see some other people who feel the same way and feel like 343 snatched away something that I and many others were dedicated to.

it shouldnt be bought back just bc You and a couple of other really like it if 343i did that for every mode people vaguely liked then the amount of game modes would be massive
It wouldn’t be much of a stretch to say there’s like a 99% chance it’ll return.

Its not just “me and a couple other of people”. Its got a dedicated fan base and it was never an issue to find a match on Grifball for Halo 5 or Halo MCC. Their reasoning for removing it is because we were stomping salty kids into the ground and apparently we were causing them to leave Halo altogether (as stated by Josh Menke of 343). So I will have to strongly disagree with you on this one and you need to know what you’re talking about before throwing out a statement claiming there was a small pool of players that really enjoyed it. Its been there since Halo 3 and has been permanent since reach. Reach even still has a Grifball community going and its been out for 10 years. It belongs in the game and needs to be a staple game mode.

As much as I’d like to believe that I hope you’re right. From what 343 has done recently with Grifball by making it rotational in MCC and removing it from Halo 5 the future of Grifball isn’t looking too good. With Infinite they have so many opportunities to make Grifball awesome and draw in the veteran’s and new players for a stable player base. One can only hope but we deserve to be heard after putting so much time into their game.

The reason why Grifball is rotational in Halo 5 and MCC (I think it is there too, I don’t play MP MCC too much) is because it isn’t popular enough. I know people hate hearing that when x playlist is their favorite but that’s the truth. Plain and simple. ZaedynFel has said this time and time again and he would know, obviously lol He has shown playlist popularity time and time again to back his words up as well. If Team snipers or Grifball or whatever, was mega popular like say Team Fiesta, It would not be a rotational playlist.
Just like Team snipers, Castle wars and so on. These types of playlists are very niche. Do they have dedicated fans that like them? Of course they do, but those fan bases are so small compared to the fan bases of other playlists. Say like SWAT, Fiesta, Team Slayer and so on. They have to focus on the playlists that are the most popular.
This is why something like the custom browser was such a welcome sight for many people as you can host your own game of whatever you want and people can join it. In essence you can pretty much play whatever you want whenever you want.
Unless Grifball becomes super popular in Halo Infinite, I wouldn’t get my hopes up for it being a permanent playlist.

Grifball had a stable enough population and it was NEVER and I mean NEVER and issue to get a match in Grifball before the changes they made to it and completely removing it from the game. Yes I make bold statements because its truth. There is tons of playlists in Halo 5 that you cannot get a match in (such as Free For All) and yet they still keep them in matchmaking. It belongs in matchmaking where it has been for 10+ years with the creation of Reach. Many of the excuses 343 gives for removing it are with lack of evidence and in my honest opinion a way to get rid of Grifball because they dont believe it belongs in the game. Regardless it needs to make a comeback and trust me there is a huge silent majority that have lost hope and don’t speak on the topic anymore but I will never stop until I get answers or we see it back in matchmaking simple as that.
The best thing 343 can do for griffball with Infinite, is to prevent it from impacting your career KDA. Unless that happens I (and I imagine some others) won’t care if griffball is in or not.

I never had trouble finding a match of snipers triple team and action sack doesn’t mean they should be permanent
The World Greatest Grifball Player Ever !
ST0P K1LLING ME and Abolish U Is the Worst Grifball players ever in Halo Grifball History !
I do enjoy griffball occasionally. I will say this much though…LAUNCH THE GAME COMPLETE!! Dont do what was done with H5 and launch only the Arena playlists and then a month or two later launch the social playlists (griffball included). I think that is largely forgotten about regarding H5’s launch.

I would take that a step further and say ANY social playlists (including customs) shouldn’t impact your KDA. Social playlists are implied that you are going there to find some other game modes that aren’t so sweaty. Whether that’s playing with friends or trying something out or just trying to take a break…yeah you’re not trying to lose necessarily but you’re definitely not sweating it if you do and genuinely are going into the playlist to have fun.
Abolish You have a lot learn
I love Griffball and would love to see it return. To be honest, I enjoy a lot of the more non-traditional game types: oddball, KOTH, infected/zombies, etc. I spend a lot of time in forge creating my own minigames. I created dodge ball, icebreakers, and a FFA mongoose KOTH that were very popular with my friends at parties. However, there are a lot of things to consider when making a playlist permanent (most of which I am ignorant to, I’m sure). I think it would be better off pushing for it to be in a permanent rotation or included in a fiesta playlist. Personally I’m not a fan of the fiesta playlists since most people on there are only interested in one or two game types, so it is difficult to find a full team where someone doesn’t quite as soon as a game is loaded.

Maybe if people like you would stop spawn camping they would. You do realize they made it rotational because of how toxic sweats would make the game by spawn camping hours worth of matches.
I hope it returns!
Hopefully a Grifball that doesnt suck complete horse crap this time though.
Namely: protected spawns. Spawncamping isnt fun.
I’d wager Grifball itself to be not that fun (solo, anyway) but then I’d never hear the end of it.
Besides how hard is it to make a spawn room that prevent you from being spawnkilled constantly? Its literally not hard at all! I could make one today that works 100% better than most default Grifball types.
Grifball is a really fun and unique idea bogged down by how lame the gameplay is because 75% of it is XP farming, AFK players and being spawncamped by people that cant stand the idea of the enemy team having a chance.
So please; if we get Grifball back can we get safe spawns at the very least.
since Grifball arenas are pretty much always forge-made we all know its not that difficult (unless they decided they want Forge to be Halo 5 levels of unusable).

Yeah none of the reasons 343 gave were invalid then and they still kind of arent unless 343 does the smart thing and actually addresses the problems with Grifball like the Gravity Hammer supremacy (unless against the ball-holder) , the spawncamping, the “keeping the ball at spawn” strategies, the fact that teamkilling is enabled… all the things that make Grifball horrible as a solo player in random matches.
Although I don’t believe grifball is nearly as popular when it was first created in Halo 3 and then Reach; I do believe its possible to have it return permanently in Halo Infinite due to the multiplayer being free, which will inevitably bring in a larger player base than the past. However, I do think the game mode could use some updating as others have mentioned.
