I am not trying to provoke those vocal hardcore fans. I am trying to show what’s best for Halo franchise, 343I and community.
Obviously, just about every gaming community is plagued with old hardcore fans.
They bring same repetitive annoying complaints that add nothing beneficial to the community. I am not saying that they are all wrong or they don’t have legitimate concern. But “copying COD” and “losing Halo element” became repetitive and poisoning to the community. No wonder why Frankie rarely shows up here.
There are times when we have to get over it and work on what’s given.
What we need to do from now is give feedback and advices for the series.
I feel like the competitive community consistently makes very mature and well thought out posts in this forum, and the second their identity as a competitive player is revealed, they are compared and grouped with a stereotypical self-obsessed try hard loser that can’t deal with losing.
That’s not who we are.
And if everyone posted positive opinions about all of the extremes 343 is taking with Halo 4, then this forum would not accurately represent the community.
> What we need to do from now is give feedback and advices for the series.
And so if it’s something that you don’t agree with, then it is illegitimate?
> I feel like the competitive community consistently makes very mature and well thought out posts in this forum, and the second their identity as a competitive player is revealed, they are compared and grouped with a stereotypical self-obsessed try hard loser that can’t deal with losing.
No, sorry, that’s wrong. The majority of this forum is made up of what some people would call “competitive” players. If they weren’t, they wouldn’t be using this forum. Well thought out and well written is one thing. Trying to force opinions on others as fact is another.
The people who are considered arrogant, ignorant, and elitist are just that. The people who claim that they know all. The ones who claim that if you don’t have a 50 in Halo 2 or Halo 3 (or both) that your opinion is invalid and that you’re “uninformed”. The ones who believe that THEIR opinion is the ONLY opinion, and that it is the ULTIMATE “law” of Halo.
They believe that just because they’re skilled at the game that they themselves are designers. The ones who think they could do a better job at making Halo than 343i can or Bungie could.
THOSE are the people who are grouped with stereotypical, self-obsessed try hard losers. Because that’s exactly what they are. I’ve been active in a thread created by someone just like that who firmly believes that if as a higher rank, he’s ENTITLED to everything on the map such as weapons and vehicles. That’s not what Halo is about, and the people who try to preach that will be left behind and forgotten. They will be classified just in the manner you described.
And sorry for the rant, I just loathe closed minds and arrogance (not talking about you, just to clarify). Unfortunately, a lot of those people tend to post here. Hence the thousands of “OMG SPRINT RUINZ TEH HALOZ!” threads and “HOLY SHHHH! SPESHULIZATIONS WILL KILL TEH HALOZ!” threads. It’s beyond ridiculous.
[/rant]
But other than that, I agree. A lot of threads here are very well thought out and well written while also accepting the views and opinions of others. Unfortunately, those threads become hard to find when a new piece of controversial information is released. That’s when the vocal (and overly nostalgic) group tends to wake up and flood the forums with nonsense.

Sorry, but can you provide me with perhaps three of these completely arrogant posts that you’re talking about?
I agree completely. Though I feel like I may sometimes whine when posting, well heck I’ll admit I do sometimes. But I try to make everything constructive posts.
> Sorry, but can you provide me with perhaps three of these completely arrogant posts that you’re talking about?
No, I won’t. It’s 1:22 AM where I live, and I can’t be bothered to search right now. You only have 34 posts, so I’m not sure if you’ve been very active here lately. Understandably, you may not have seen the hell storm that arose when the Game Informer article was leaked or when sprint was confirmed as a natural player ability. Now there’s a whole new wave of this happening because of the clarification of specializations.
I’ll give you the link to one thread that is 15 or so pages long. You’ll find plenty in here:
https://forums.halo.xbox.com/yaf_postst105591_The-Halo-4-ranking-system-discussion-thread.aspx
If you read the original post, you’ll find 2 edits apologizing for his behavior because of how disgustingly arrogant he was. There are quite a few people in that thread alone who also make it clear that they believe that high skill = more valid opinion.
EDIT: And just to let you know, the original title for that thread was “Look, you guys just don’t get it…” or something like that. I think that says enough.
Biggest “complaint’s” ive seen thus far…BR recoil,Natural sprint,AA’s returning…

No, it’s actually not wrong. And most of what you’re complaining about here is not what the majority of competitive players believe.
You’re taking a lot of what we say out of context and honestly it just makes you look naive.
People only get like that because of uninformed, stupid, ignorant, people who are constantly Yoinking! on the competitive side of Halo.
He was completely right when he said that the competitive side usually brings out the best posts, because we do. You know why? Because we do actually know what we’re talking about. Most casuals have ridiculous posts making -Yoink- claims which do nothing but further the stereotype that people without 50s don’t understand Halo at all.
Of course this is a broad, blanket statement, but you did the exact same.
Pfft, yeah, good luck OP. Any time you even try to say anything, anything at all against Halo 4, people just shoot you down and thank each other.
State something simply? “You have no facts or stats to back that up!”
Give facts and stats? “Yeah, well, that’s just your opinion, man.”

Are you following me around the forums or something? It seems like where ever I post, you’re right there trying to tell me I’m wrong.
I said that he was wrong about everybody classifying competitive players into one stereotypical group. Because people don’t do that here. My entire post was saying that the people who ARE classified in that group are the ones who put themselves there. Don’t try to tell me what competitive players collectively believe. There is no collective belief. I consider myself “competitive” because I’m forced to classify myself to some people. However, I don’t agree with your personal beliefs on certain things. And I’m not the only “competitive” player who shares my beliefs. Just as you’re not the only “competitive” player who shares yours.
This isn’t some battle between political parties where the “competitives” are bound to one belief and the “casuals” are bound to another. Stop trying to make it out to be that way.
Did you read the last paragraph of my post? I AGREED that most people here DO write well thought out and worthwhile posts.
My God, have you EVER taken a reading comprehension test?
Believe it or not… Most competitive players do have the same mind set…
Competition is the core value and I’m not going to go any deeper into this, secondly the casual community is everybody else. It’s not a group its just everyone is a casual that’s why the casual community has a spectrum of idiots to intelligent well thought out posts
And what he said about people getting frustrated with ignorance… exactly why I’m so spiteful on these forums
> Believe it or not… Most competitive players do have the same mind set…

I’m sorry, but for me personally, this means absolutely nothing coming from you. You’ve demonstrated nothing on this forum except pure elitism and arrogance. You’re one of the people who makes the entire competitive community look bad. Not because of your beliefs or your values. I completely respect your opinions. But the way you present them and truly think that your opinion is the only one that is valid makes me sick, quite frankly.
I don’t mind having a healthy debate like the one we’re having in your thread, but character content is something completely different.

Being spiteful is to be ignorant. Nothing is gained from that. I don’t give 2 -Yoink- if your for the competitive side of things, this however does NOT gives you no right to assume your opinion is better than anybody else’s.
Agreed. I see so many poor threads like “REMOVE AAs!!”, “Take CoD perks out” and (this is my favorite) “This is not Halo”.
I would like to see ppl posting threads where they suggest nerfs/buffs to these upgrades, AAs or weapons they think are OP. There are a lots of those good threads but they get quickly buried by blind hate threads…
