We need better ranked

I know the 1-50 system was put in because it calls back to Bungie’s old system but the Halo 5 CSR Bronze to Onyx + Champ system is way better. It gives placement games to where it thinks you should be at and you can work on it from there, rather than having to grind along until you get to where you want to be.

Also maybe scrap the games playlist model and do it so there is a 1v1 slayer playlist, a free for all playlist, a 2v2 team slayer playlist, a 4v4 team slayer playlist and a 4v4 king of the hill/oddball/capture the flag/etc. playlist. Then, just like in social, you can choose which games you are searching for. The end result will likely be the same with everyone playing Halo 3, a few in Halo 2a and some in Reach but now people have the chance to play all modes ranked on their favourite game to play it on, rather than being forced to play halo 3 or ce if they want to play 2v2 for example. Now they would be able to play the game of their choice when playing different ranked modes.

Also the map selection should be adjusted. For example, Halo 2a doesn’t have enough maps in ranked and Halo 3 has far too many.
I cant speak for all the Halo games but I think Halo 2a should have the maps it had before plus zenith and maybe stonetown.
Halo 3 should have The Pit, Narrows, Citadel, Guardian, Blackout, Heretic and maybe some others but it should be more limited than it is now to keep the experience more consistent.

Map voting should be brought in to pre game lobbies to help deter bad maps or if teams want to rematch on a map they should be able to.

I don’t disagree with some of the points but likewise that’s a lot of work to do to implement and with 7 months left until Infinite I can’t see the point of making such changes. The current system is a throwback, sure, but that’s the point

True, maybe just some points to consider in future ranked in infinite then? Keep the map selection large enough to feel diverse but limited enough that it doesn’t feel like social. The Halo 5 CSR system is superior in my opinion so they should keep that in infinite. Make sure there are enough good standard playlists before adding new ones (1v1, FFA, 2v2, 4v4, 4v4 objective modes, etc.)

Im sure it is a lot of work so won’t be disappointed if it doesn’t happen but would be nice to leave MCC ranked in a good place for anyone who wants to keep playing or return in the future. But Infinite is 100% the priority.

I don’t think you have to worry on the Infinite front. The Halo 5 system (developed after MCC released) has been detailed in high profile industry talks since.

For all we know MCC’s underlying systems may not even be able to support it given the performance data required

Yeah competitive definitely needs an upgrade.

  • Having a match composer instead of just choosing one playlist would help a great deal with player count and finding matches. - Team balancing still seems to be an issue. - More maps for Reach Invasion - And/or put invasion in social matchmaking
