I understand some of your feelings, but thinking that you lose against pc players because they play on 200 fps is laughable. The few graphics cards which can get stable on 200 fps in infinite are so expensive right now. Also the steam user surveys pretty much shows that most pc players play on 60 fps and only a minority actually has the hardware and monitors to get more. Also as stated often enough, there is a reason why pro players play with controller and not with mouse and keyboard. Also, I can have more than 60 fps on my series x, do you want to seperate the different xbox consoles too? Since it would be pretty damn unfair since the series x allows me to play so much better than the rest of the Xbox family
So just be aware there are those of us that sit at a computer all day for work, and the last thing I want to do in my free time is sit at a PC for another two hours.
I’m not trying to be a pro player. I’m trying to be a console player who doesn’t want to be forced into unfair matches with mouse and keyboard players for non-ranked playlists.
To be clear, I said Xbox series X gets 120 fps in performance mode. It’s not locked at 120. A PC can exceed that relatively easily. 1080p on an RTX 3070 can easily hit 165 fps. Any frame rate advantage is likely minimal, but the frame rate issue isn’t the only or primary one I mentioned above. It was just one of the issues of crossplay.
It’s not just aim assist controller gets, it’s also a strong bullet magnetism and this stronger magnetism also gets carried at range. Add those together and with controller you get a clear advantage over MnK. You get a light version of aim bot when using controller.
Let me be very clear, I am not bias and I owned and still own just about every Xbox there is. Currently, I have a 360, One, One S, One X, Series S and Series X. I have a pretty good gaming rig, too. Asus 3080 Strix, 5800x, 32Gb 3600Mhz RAM, Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 (5120x1440 240Hz), Not getting close to 200fps, granted I have the hardware to do so. Even when I play the game in 16x9 on low settings, I’ll see around 160fps.
I made a video (it is posted here) that’s very clear about the advantage there is with controller. It’s not aim assist alone, or bullet magnetism that gives controller the upper hand. It’s the combination of the two. It assists controller in a way that is not possible with MnK. So with MnK, you get to do 360’s a lot faster than on controller. With controller, you get aim assist with stronger bullet magnetism which makes landing shots a whole lot easier.
The stats posted don’t lie, I’m sure you seen the shot accuracy between the top 100 controller players vs top 100 MnK players, right? Here’s some food for thought. IF PC is filled with cheaters using aim bot and wall hacks, that should be buffing the MnK shot accuracy, yet the top 100 MnK players are pretty much dead even with the controller 50th percentile players.
This is worth a watch. Average player on both inputs but when he makes the switch to controller, he’s in God mode.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNoHmhN9tZo
If you’re too lazy to watch the whole video, here’s the part where he switches to controller…
https://youtu.be/eNoHmhN9tZo?t=718
pay attention to the headshot kills he gets that clearly his crosshair isn’t on the head. This doesn’t happen with MnK. It’s a problem.
Regardless, I’d feel better knowing that I’m playing in the right pool and the chances of being matched with a cheater being much lower. It’s not really the pc players fault. It’s just the hardware they use has too many exploits available to manipulate in order to shift the game in favor of cheaters.
I’d prefer not to deal with that. Hope this explains it better.
People who think mouse and keyboard is superior in this game are wildly ignorant of just how much work the aim assist is doing. Literally none of the top players in this game are on mouse and keyboard. And it’s not simply because Halo players have more experience on controller. There are a number of incredibly talented gamers playing the game on mouse and keyboard, and they play well. But every one of them will get absolutely mopped in almost any 1v1 against decent Onyx players on a controller. The combination of aim assist, bullet magnetism and left stick aiming allows top controller players to rather consistently pull 4-5 Perfect medals a game in Ranked play. The absolute best mouse and keyboard players in this game aren’t performing like that consistently. Rapha, the literal best Quake player of all time, streams this game sometimes and can’t hit shots like that consistently. Gigz, the highest CSR mouse and keyboard player in the game, can’t hit shots like that consistently.
The disparity in the two inputs has simply been too well explored at this point. Mouse and keyboard is not the boogeyman you think it is in Halo in any capacity.
NO, crossplay should be optional in ALL games. But console only lobbies should exist. Games survive just fine with healthy populations without cross play. crossplay is still pretty new so how is it all these games survived without it?
MNK and controller play far to diff to ever fully balance. most games with advanced movement, high mobility, low ttk and recoil play better on MNK and MNK will always be on top. Games like halo, high ttk, slower movement, and no recoil will play well on controller and not make use of MNK benefits. which all leads to the AA is op or MNk too strong debates> thats a bad thing
Cheating. I know people always say " but console got cheaters too" thing is, its NOT NEARLY AS BAD. console has mostly network manipulation and cronus/strickpack users ( halo has 0 recoil on most guns so the main benefit of those is of no use. PC has far more extreme cheats, wall hacks, aim bots ect. which are much easier to get and far more people use them. look at warzone. the game is pretty much KNOWN for cheaters. If it was a console only lobby, cheating would NOT be what it was known for, at least for xbox and PS.
Having the option to turn it off is also better for competitive. Only being able to solo/duo queue is not enough. Having a ranked game is always better when people are on a level playing field with similar hardware. PC already has gaps in peripherals and builds but that cant be helped but also adding in consoles both old and new gen with controllers. it scews the ranks. IF pc and console had full grp sepperate lobby ranked pvp. the balance and ranks would be much better.
FPS shooters should ONLY be optional xplay.
I’m a little surprised that there isn’t an option to disable cross play. So many other games have it, why not Halo infinite? Playing against M&KB doesn’t bug me too much in FPS, but For me it’s more it’s just a hell of a lot easier to cheat on PC than it is a console.
Also, can we PLEASE got player collision back in!!! One of the dumbest decisions ever was to get rid of that!
In cases like Crossplay with PlayStation, I say more players the merrier… but in the case of PC/Console Crossplay, PC requires the door for error to be left open. This isn’t PC players fault, it’s the fault of the hardware they use. There are just too many holes for bad apples to expose and exploit the game files to tilt the game in their favor. Microsoft is only pushing for the PC/Crossplay because they have a stake in the PC bizz, they’d be foolish not to combine their two gaming empires.
But, the customization and optimization of personalized PCs, coupled with the Free 2 Play model, allow an avenue of never ending cheating, if left untamed. Essentially turning the anti-cheat system into a Whack-a-Mole carnival game for companies. Hammering one cheater while another pops up and then the previous cheater just creates a new free account, rinsing and repeating the entire ordeal. It doesn’t help that people constantly create and sell these cheat programs online to fuel the firestorm. One would think there has to be a method to all of this madness.
I would prefer Crossplay with PC is turned off. I turn it off in any game that allows me to unless that game only Crossplays with Consoles/iOS/Android.
Starting to wonder if some of these guy’s are just Ps5 fan’s on low power Pc hoping to give 343 bad data to make the Xbox players give up on Halo.
It’s to bad there no way to tell a real Halo Pc players from fake Pc players.
If you can’t beat M&K (Who have practically 0 aim assist) with a controller that pretty much hard-locks enemies you’re doing something wrong. It’s still an issue on MCC and it’s an issue in this game too. Social games are not playable on M&K because controllers get to beam you off the face of the planet with nearly no input required.
I will say this again because people are STILL MISSING THE QUESTION NO ONE IS ASKING!
Why did 343 not include for Xbox players to able/disable cross-play already built in this game?
THAT right there is a BIG FREAKING RED FLAG!!!
WAKE UP, PEOPLE!
I would love for 343 to more directly address their reasoning for not being able to turn off cross play.
They admitted that making a F2P PC game would invite cheaters, so why force console players to play in that pool?
It really makes zero sense, not even factoring the differences in console vs PC from an experience standpoint.
From community manager John Junyszek on Twitter(https://twitter.com/Unyshek/status/1465509016767852544):
"Unfortunately, cheating is a natural part of supporting a F2P PC game and it’s one we anticipated.
“It’ll never go away entirely, but we’re prepared and committed to releasing consistent improvements to our game’s systems and taking action on bad actors.
“Jumping in to clarify that the wording of “improvements to game’s systems” includes not only our anti-cheat, but the rest of the game as well. It’s worded this way because we don’t take a “single feature” approach, but a game-wide approach to anti-cheat."
I can’t find any direct address of cross play from anyone at 343, only Phil Spencer saying controller players wouldn’t be forced into playing with mkb pools, which we are in non-ranked…even still, that left the door open for cross play which exposes the game to a higher percentage of cheaters, even if they’re matching control inputs.
I assume it’s a business decision, but since it has an impact on player enjoyment it should be explained, and owned. If there’s enough of an impact that it will result in business consequences I suppose they’ll listen and respond at some point. From a player trust standpoint sooner is better. Later is worse.
Gaming press has covered this topic extensively. 343 has been silent. It gives the perception that something is being hidden, even if that’s not the intent.
Agreed. Just had a game of swat and some guy destroyed us. He had 38 kills and died 10 times on his team. I went back to check in theatre mode if he was cheating but sadly no. He was obviously on mouse and keyboard with how he was able to very quickly turn around and flick his aim. How can crossplay be fair in a game like swat 343.
Strongly agree that crossplay needs to have settings just like they do in the MCC to be turned on or off
Deleted the game. With forced crossplay this crap isn’t worth my time. Many better games out there anyways.
Your still highly debated input efficacy arguments aside, it’s dishonest to suggest that players don’t have a choice in their preferred input when they absolutely do.
Crossplay/segregation should be included, but nobody is being forced to use one control scheme over the other.
What do you mean hard locks on? Have you ever played any other halos? This is the WORST aim assist any halo has ever had. You and I both know pc players don’t want console to have the option because it’s easy wins slapping console players.
Ok you
Must suck at this game! Controller is dominating mm online. MNK is inferior because the aim assist on controller makes aiming far easier and forgiving. yOU are not losing to MNK players.
You’re not losing to MNK players, you’re losing to
Controller
Incorrect. It’s only true on ranked playlists.
