We need a ranking system (1-50)

Lets keep the leveling system we already have in Halo 4, and add a ranking system.

Here’s why:

-It promotes competitive play

-Its promotes playing the game more

-It is a healthy way of testing your skills against others

-Keeps the game from becoming stagnant and boring (AKA: Halo reach Matchmaking)

-It promotes rivalries among players, which in and of itself, is a healthy way improving and growing as a player

-It allows you to know which players are a threat in social matchmaking games, and which ones are noobs. Think about it, who do you think you should keep the sniper away from: The level 15 noob, or the level 50 Beast? I would try and keep it away from the level 50

It helps the meta game of Halo grow. What I mean by that is that it helps new and improved strategies come about, in an attempt to get the upper hand on your opponent

-Most importantly: You get paired up against people of your skill level, and you know what your skill level is!

How can you measure your skill as a player, if you have no way of measuring your abilities? You cant!

If you don’t like Ranking Systems here is your solution:

DONT PLAY IT!!!

I am 99.99% sure it would be in its own playlist, just like in Halo 3.

You have the very clear choice of simply not playing it. Why deny the rest of us the opportunity to play in a ranked playlist, just because you don’t like it? That’s just rude and oppressive. It reminds me of racism in the real world, fueled by anger and irresponsible hatred, with the intention of shutting it down, simply because “you don’t like it”. Historically, this has never turned out well. Insert Historical Reference here, because certain people on this website are easily offended over nothing

Some argue that having a ranking system will only promote boosting, cheating, de-rankers, and the selling of accounts:

Well, the current system that is in effect right now promotes boosting/cheating/selling of accounts too. Anything could promote that. The other day, I ran into this lobby where this guy was legit trying to sell accounts he had created to this 12 year old kid, simply because of the armor specialization that was on the account.

Selling accounts, Boosting, Cheating: Its all going to happen regardless of a ranking system being in the game or not.

I just don’t think we should sit back and stigmatize the idea of a ranking system in Halo 4, after the huge success it had in Halo 2 and Halo 3, and ignore the huge failure of a leveling system that happened with Halo: Reach.

That is all.

NOTE: None of the comments in this post were meant to offend or upset an individual or group of people, but meant solely as a means of pushing the argument of implementing a ranking system in Halo 4.

I get it, but do we need another thread on the same exact topic?

And did you really relate the lack of a 1-50 ranking system to the -Yoink!-?

You are right. The -Yoink!- reference was too far. But yes we need more threads on the same exact thing until it changes.

No. I related it to the idea of hating something or someone simply because of a lack of interest, thus oppressing these ideas or people, simply because they are different ideas from your own. The -Yoink!- fully encompasses this ideal of hatred, and I feel it pushes the point that I am trying to share with the Halo community in whole, in a shocking and thought provoking way.

  1. Calm down.

Just because they didn’t add a CSR system it can’t compare to the horrors of racism, hatred, and even the -Yoink!-.

  1. You are right. It will always be in any multiplayer game with high ranks and whatnot.

The difference is that with CSR, it is more valuable then lets say a SR130.

More people are willing to pay for a 50 CSR then a SR130 because its just cooler looking then a system where all you have to do is go afk and earn 2K XP.

Just sayin’.

  1. Halo:Reach leveling system wasn’t a huge failure.

It was long and it had an incentive. There were helmets and whatnot you could spend your credits on to make your Spartan look cool.

The only problem was that people could afk matches on it, but people do that on a lot of games.

I want both of them to be side by side so both sides will be happy.

I feel like that if 343 added Ranked Playlists, people would still complain saying they did it wrong.

Either way, it also promotes De-rankers

OP,

How dare you compare a ranking system in a fictional video game to one of the most horrible tragedies on planet earth! how dare you! You are beyond offensive, immature, rude and arrogant and I am utterly appalled and greatly upset.

You have been reported. I hope you get banned for what you wrote because that is unacceptable and immoral.

Calm down, and read the note at the bottom of my post. Only fools take offense when no offense was intended.

And if this gets removed, and I am going to just re-post this without the -Yoink!- reference. Seriously though, take a chill pill.

You may not have meant to offend anyone but you did so the damage has been done. Also you don’t need historical references to push an argument. There are plenty of constructive ways to push an argument without referencing to a haphazardly assembled historical reference that has no validity or connection to a video game!

I’ll calm down when you stop being so offensive.

This is the official thread.

Reading must not be your strong suit, because this is backwards thinking. You mean to tell me that even after the disclaimer is there for you to read and understand (debatably) you still choose to be offended? You have much bigger problems then that of Halo my friend.

Ahh, I see.

No offense but,
OP I think you are an inconsiderate -Yoink-.

It’s ok though I put no offense in my statement.

It could be 1-100. The point is we need a visible ranking system.
