Lets keep the leveling system we already have in Halo 4, and add a ranking system.
Here’s why:
-It promotes competitive play
-Its promotes playing the game more
-It is a healthy way of testing your skills against others
-Keeps the game from becoming stagnant and boring (AKA: Halo reach Matchmaking)
-It promotes rivalries among players, which in and of itself, is a healthy way improving and growing as a player
-It allows you to know which players are a threat in social matchmaking games, and which ones are noobs. Think about it, who do you think you should keep the sniper away from: The level 15 noob, or the level 50 Beast? I would try and keep it away from the level 50
It helps the meta game of Halo grow. What I mean by that is that it helps new and improved strategies come about, in an attempt to get the upper hand on your opponent
-Most importantly: You get paired up against people of your skill level, and you know what your skill level is!
How can you measure your skill as a player, if you have no way of measuring your abilities? You cant!
If you don’t like Ranking Systems here is your solution:
DONT PLAY IT!!!
I am 99.99% sure it would be in its own playlist, just like in Halo 3.
You have the very clear choice of simply not playing it. Why deny the rest of us the opportunity to play in a ranked playlist, just because you don’t like it? That’s just rude and oppressive. It reminds me of racism in the real world, fueled by anger and irresponsible hatred, with the intention of shutting it down, simply because “you don’t like it”. Historically, this has never turned out well. Insert Historical Reference here, because certain people on this website are easily offended over nothing
Some argue that having a ranking system will only promote boosting, cheating, de-rankers, and the selling of accounts:
Well, the current system that is in effect right now promotes boosting/cheating/selling of accounts too. Anything could promote that. The other day, I ran into this lobby where this guy was legit trying to sell accounts he had created to this 12 year old kid, simply because of the armor specialization that was on the account.
Selling accounts, Boosting, Cheating: Its all going to happen regardless of a ranking system being in the game or not.
I just don’t think we should sit back and stigmatize the idea of a ranking system in Halo 4, after the huge success it had in Halo 2 and Halo 3, and ignore the huge failure of a leveling system that happened with Halo: Reach.
That is all.
NOTE: None of the comments in this post were meant to offend or upset an individual or group of people, but meant solely as a means of pushing the argument of implementing a ranking system in Halo 4.
