At first glance it looks unorganized. And the selection seems bloated.
Just look at the playlists.. At night they have populations as bad as what you would expect to see a game’s predecessor such as Halo 3.
Something big should be done with this. Maybe make all 4v4 objectives in one playlist, and make a veto system that people can use to vote for 3 new maps/objectives + the voting system. I know Flag is doing quite well but all gametypes deserve to be in there. And having too many playlists drives players apart and can cause considerably low populations.
And on a side note, I’m simply dumbfounded seeing how fast Halo 4 has crashed and burnt. I’m not a doomsayer but it really sucks seeing the game you know and love become something you don’t know anymore and is breaking up the community. The link is up top but here it is again.
This game needs a Halo 2 remake just to keep it on life support.
I do agree that the playlist is unorganized and visually appalling. An elegant organized look would go a long way…
The entire UI is generally cluttered and unappealing. I’ve seen a lot of people unhappy with it.
I also don’t like how all the playlists are just listened together like that. What happened to the old days of having categories?
The great irony in this is that 343’s whole “rotating hopper” system was implemented ENTIRELY TO AVOID LOW POPS AND DISORGANIZATION!!! Clearly the rotation system is completely useless. Just put everything out at once, organize everything, and adjust settings weekly.

Indeed 1/3 of them need to be taken out/meshed with other playlists.
I personally would take Dominion and turn it into a 6v6 extraction, dominion and assault playlist.
Drop regicide and FFA DLC and make it map required FFA that has regicide in it.
Drop CTF and Team objective and have it host all the objectives.
And… I don’t know what else I could suggest without actually talking to the people in charge. I’m no expert, but I’ve played halo for going on 6 years now, if I could help, I would drive down to 343i. I already know it’s about a 4 hour drive and I would work for free if it meant good changes.

I agree. I don’t know if it’s just me but I kind of find it sloppy work with how it’s organized. Something I would do when I was 10 and making a list…

The UI is unattractive and glitchy + difficult to use
The playlists should be ordered different and a few other small tweaks
Let’s not forget that you can’t see WHAT playlist ur friends are even playing in or how much time is left or what the score is
And don’t get me started about the File Share - and how badly it fails
Reach’s UI was cleaner and easier to manage + had more details
Personally, my suggestions for playlists would be splitting it into Social and Ranked hoppers, just like Halo 2 & 3, then feature the following playlists.
Social
Rumble Pit - FFA 6-8 Players. (Infinity & Non-Infinity Small-Medium maps)
Social Doubles - 2v2 Slayer Gametypes (Infinity & Non-Infinity Small maps).
Social Slayer - 4v4 to 5v5 Slayer Gametypes (Infinity & Non-Infinity Medium maps).
Social Objective - 4v4 to 5v5 Objective Gametypes (Infinity & Non-Infinity Medium maps).
Big Social Battle - 6v6 to 8v8 Slayer & Objective Gametypes (Infinity & Non-Infinity Large maps).
Multi-Team - 3v3v3v3 Slayer and Objective Gametypes (Infinity & Non-Infinity Medium-Large maps).
Living Dead - 8 player FFA Infection Gametypes (Infinity & Non-Infinity Medium maps).
Action Sack - 4v4 to 8v8 Minigames (Infinity & Non-Infinity Medium-Large maps).
Team Throwback - 4v4 to 8v8 forge remakes and original weapon layouts from previous Halo games (Non-Infinity Small-Large maps).
Ranked
Lone Wolves - FFA 6 Players (Non-Infinity Medium maps).
Team Doubles - 2v2 Slayer Gametypes (Non-Infinity Small maps).
Team Slayer - 4v4 Slayer Gametypes (Non-Infinity Medium maps).
Team Objective - 4v4 Objective Gametypes (Non-Infinity Medium maps).
Big Team Battle - 8v8 Slayer & Objective Gametypes (Non-Infinity Large maps).
Team SWAT - 4v4 Slayer Gametypes with no shields, dexterity and a BR/DMR start (Non-Infinity Medium-Large maps).
Team Snipers - 4v4 Slayer Gametypes with Sniper starts (Non-Infinity Medium-Large maps).
Grifball - 4v4 Grifball (Grifball maps & variants).
Pro Team - 4v4 Slayer and Objective supporting Official MLG & AGL Tournament & League settings (Official Tournament & League Variants).
Other Possible Playlists (Could be Ranked or Social)
Double EXP - Remember these? Team Melee, Team Rockets, Maption Sack, Fiesta, 3 Ball and the like, likely 4v4.
DLC - Obviously, everyone needs a DLC-only playlist, all current DLC maps only.
So, those are my two cents, what do you guys think?

This would be a great start, but Grifball has no business being ranked. I would switch it out with Multi-team and make it ranked while Grifball is social.
This is great in theory, but 343 will never separate the playlists like this with ranked and social. I hate to play the devil’s advocate but 343 simply doesn’t believe in that.

I would love this but I don’t see us going from a 15 playlists with generally low populations to 18.
The fat really needs to be trimmed and priorities needs to be shifted so we can have decently sized playlists and enjoyable ones as well.
Here’s how I would have the Playlists be Done if it were ranked/social (In Halo 4, Social would be “Infinity” and Ranked would be “Harcore”
> Infinity
> Infinity Slayer
> Infinity BTB (Includes Objective)
> Infinity Objective (Includes Dominion, Extraction and Team Regicide)
> Multi-Team
> Rumble Pit (Includes Regicide)
>
> Hardcore
> Lone Wolves (FFA)
> Team Throwback (Slayer and Objective Games, only BR starts)
> MLG/AGL Playlist (Or 343’s Competitive Playlist using those settings)
> Team SWAT/Snipers (One Playlist will suit)
> Team Doubles
>
>
> Casual
> Action Sack
> Griffball
> Living Dead/Flood (One or the Other)
This contains only 13 playlists (Down from what we have now), and allows for a split between the new and old. Also brings back old playlists that are missing. It also allows for the addition of DLC playlists if necessary.

Yes this I like this. I wish they would do this.

Are you kidding? Grifball has league and tournament play, whilst Multi-team has neither and becomes very random due to the FFA nature of the game. I’m still surprised MLG held FFA events to be honest.
And I know they’ll never separate the playlists like this, but it’s nice to dream no? Also, you never know, they might actually see the post and consider it, might as well shoot for the stars hey?
> I would love this but I don’t see us going from a 15 playlists with generally low populations to 18.

The playlist populations would rise if they actually featured a lot of balanced playlists instead of the unbalanced chaotic mess they have at the moment, for everything that’s not FFA, the Ordnance creates too much randomness for it to be competitive, hence that community doesn’t play nearly as much as it did back on Halo 2 & 3. Additionally, casual players can’t try anything competitive because there isn’t anything competitive to play.

What about those of us that desperately want to play BTB without any Ordnance or Custom Loadouts? You know, BALANCED large-scale gameplay?
Captain Jack Sparrow. Well said.
Though here is my input.
One : I think the change from multiteam to 3v3v3v3 is an excellent idea because this would be the first Halo with an actual 3 man playlist. I’ve wanted a 3 man playlist for a long time.
Two : You didn’t comment on this but all playlists should include radar except for the AGL/Team throwback playlist.
Three : Playlists I’d add/remove. If all playlists contain radar except Team Throwback I think we would need to add an Hardcore playlist for team doubles as well because many would be disappointed without a replacement to Doubles Pro. And no offence bro I don’t think Ranked Griftball is necessary but by all means I guess…
Anyways like you said creating more ORGANIZED playlist would definitely increase the population. Nice list I had similar thoughts.

I take it you’ve never played Reach…

Adding this many playlists would further drop the populations and would likely make this game nearly unplayable.
