Ya know because you are supposed to not troll or be mean here it would be great to have a mature kind of off topic for this halo website and can be for discussion of other halo stuff to.
We had it.
We tried it.
It was a spam fest and a lot of topics went un-read.
> Ya know because you are supposed to not troll or be mean here it would be great to have a mature kind of off topic for this halo website and can be for discussion of other halo stuff to.
Tried it, didn’t work out. If you want off-topic, try the Yo! thread.
Oh god no please just no. I do not want these forums ruined.
> It was a spam fest and a lot of topics went un-read.
Hey! Stop describing the yoo thread! We’re talking about an off-topic section. Learn to read… jeez.
Yea, OP. It’d be nice, but all the yoo regulars would rise up and protest. Like, they already complain heaps at just the idea.

This again? Negative stereotyping, again? You’re getting quite stale with this act.
Need I remind you that all of your posts in the Yo! thread got deleted because they were spam? Or did we forgot that little tidbit of information?
It’s not just the active posters of the Yo! thread that dislike the idea of an off-topic forum. Try the majority of the active Waypoint community, as well as 343i, hence why we don’t have one now. We tried it, it didn’t work, it was taken out. You’ve also never provided a valid reason to why a website specifically designed for Halo needs a forum for discussing things non-Halo.
Checkmate.
bungie.net has this, the flood forum
its awful, idiotic, juvenile, and splits the community in half
i come here to talk about Halo, if i want to talk about something non-Halo related i just talk to my friends
> Checkmate.
fatality.

Need I remind you this isn’t about me. All my posts in the yoo thread weren’t deleted either, derp.
And it’s ironic that you say “why a website specifically designed for Halo needs a forum for discussing things non-Halo” when:
a) We have the yoo thread and
b) the majority of your posts are in the yoo thread.
Just a tad funny, ya know?
And you have no proof that the majority don’t want an off-topic section. You pull me over for ‘stereotyping’ but you think it’s okay to do it yourself. To make it even funnier is that I’m not ‘negatively’ stereotyping, let alone stereotyping at all. It’s an observation I’ve made; if you’re a yoo regular you don’t want an off-topic section.
You guys only oppose an off-topic section because you fear losing your little ‘group’, and that’s all the yoo thread is; a little group of spammers. And unfortunately this is the case because unless you’re a yoo regular you get ignored. I’ve seen it first hand too many times. This just deters any newcomers and the oldies just sit there and spam more.
An off-topic thread would benefit the community and wouldn’t contain any more ‘spam’ than the yoo thread currently does. It’s actually impossible to have a proper discussion in the yoo thread. Link me to one, but you can’t, because it doesn’t happen there. That’s why we need an off-topic section; proper discussions. Not to mention it’d be hella lot more organized.
it wouldn’t work and would waste valuable internets. I’m quite happy for the Yo! people to post their random discussions in a thread I don’t give a flying turtle about.

Just to say, were you here when the ‘Cats’ section was around in Gamma?
That served as the off-topic section for a little bit, and if you were here, you would know how it wasn’t any better than the Yo! topic, many topics went unread and people just posted, NOBODY CARES? ??£Elrge’tf into there topic if nobody replied.

I didn’t know the Gamma section existed.
At that time halo.xbox.com was buggy. Extremely buggy. Hella buggy. So buggy I rarely visited this place, or to be more precise, it wouldn’t let me log in. There wasn’t a huge sign saying “Help test the gamma forums!” so I didn’t actually know it existed till the end, and when I eventually did visit I saw a section called “Cats” and didn’t pay it any attention. Why would I post in a section called “Cats”?
This board wasn’t that active due to the bugs. Few people got filtered into the gamma forum and even fewer still ventured into a section called “Cats”. No wonder many threads went unanswered. Just sayin’.

Tons of people got into Gamma man, it was far less buggy than Beta at the time, it was posted in Beta and in a Halo Bulletin, when I was there it was active but the off-topic section, no, just no.
It was once again, tried and failed.
Can any of us make this more clear to you?

“Tons” isn’t the word I’d use. When I finally got into the place it was like a ghost town. Threads that didn’t get more than a handful of replies seemed to be the norm in every section.
Anyway, point is it doesn’t hurt anyone to make an off-topic section now. You know, when the forums have come out of beta and they’re more active then ever and you don’t need to filter through 3 levels to get to the off-topic section; it’s sure to be more active. If you’re against it you’re merely poking holes in other peoples’ fun.
Oh, and I don’t read the Halo Bulletin. BS is a terrible writer. I’m not the only one who feels this way either.
yes lets have an off-topic forum so I, the uber-troll, can summon more trolls and start huge flame wars for my amusement. mwuuuuhhahahahaaaaaa…

Here’s something for you then, if you claim activity is increasing then so be it.
The Yo! topic was locked last week and was locked until Monday.
It was locked to the constant arguments ongoing within the topic and general flaming when the whole point in the topic was to have a friendly chat.
If the mods had to lock one topic dedicated to off-topic discussion, how the heck are they going to manage a whole off-topic section?
It will be more chaos than good.
Anyways, I would like to say this topic should have been posted in the Forum Bugs & Suggestions topic and left at that, then we will let the Site Admins decided if it would be a good idea.

So, which is it?

That would undoubtedly be fun…

Try the majority of the active Waypoint community, as well as 343i, hence why we don’t have one now. We tried it, it didn’t work, it was taken out. You’ve also never provided a valid reason to why a website specifically designed for Halo needs a forum for discussing things non-Halo.

> > > > > >
> > > > > >

There wasn’t a huge sign saying “Help test the gamma forums!” so I didn’t actually know it existed till the end, and when I eventually did visit I saw a thread called “Cats” and didn’t pay it any attention. Why would I post in a thread called “Cats”?

You know, when the forums have come out of beta and they’re more active then ever and you don’t need to filter through 3 levels to get to the off-topic section. It’s sure to be more active. If you’re against it you’re merely poking holes in other peoples’ fun.

No, it won’t. The yoo thread is a terrible place. When outsiders enter they get ignored or flamed. That’s why it got locked. Just sayin’.
Yoo = spamming trolls.
Off-topic section = discussion with some spamming trolls.
Which is better?

Well you have said what I was expecting you to say, just a note, against the rules to call someone a troll.
Have a nice day.

Except, you know, I went in there as an outsider and I wasn’t ignored or flamed. So, what’s your next excuse?
