We kinda need more humor in Halo

I really like Halo (literally my favorite game; explains why I’m here). However, I believe that there is not enough humor in the series currently.

Modern Halo seems to be way too serious all the time. Hardly a single joke in Halo 4, 5, or Infinite except for a bit of IWBYHD dialogue, such as “A plasma pistol. Just like Vale!” which Buck says in Halo 5.

I think that this can be fixed by maybe making the jokes a bit more closely tied to canon and slightly more common. The grunts are already off to a great start, if the “Your mom” jokes they allegedly made that I saw on r/halomemes are anything to go off of.

Some of Halo Infinite’s best jokes are references to older Halo jokes, such as “lightish red” and “‘I know what the ladies like’”. These are really cool, but a bigger effort needs to be made in order to make similarly funny and/or iconic jokes in the newer Halo games and media.

In conclusion, Halo should really be at least a bit more funny, and its already on its way there a little. What do you think? Does Halo already have enough humor? Does it need any at all?

Maybe 343 doesn’t add more humor to the game because they are the real joke. :joy:

Why do you think this? They may be severely lacking in many areas, but how exactly is 343i a joke  ? I failed to detect the funny within them.

The cat ears is not silly enough? In my opinion the entire game is a joke now.

I mean like canon jokes. The cat ears are kinda cool imo but they’re not funny enough. If there was a stance like “Nico Nico Nii!” then it would be hilarious ironic humor.

I think another way to make Halo Infinite funnier would be to include a hidden reference. Like if Master Chief approached Atriox, Atriox could say “Oh, you’re approaching me?”.

Infinite does have humor in it, but it is very bland and can be easily overlooked due to the sloppy writing.

The Pilot and The Weapon bicker back and forth a lot and also complain to the Master Chief periodically throughout the game, while the Chief responds back with his one liners that don’t quite answer the question but only makes them want to ask even more questions… These are meant to be the comedic relief moments in the cutscenes or during random dialog.

Then you have the Propaganda Grunt who is spewing random lines from the broadcasting towers around Zeta’s surface. Or the hidden stuffed dolls randomly placed at the top of mountain peaks, for whatever reason… plus many other easter eggs like the “Arcade room” easter egg, where Brutes and Marines apparently were partying all night and playing Halo on a arcade machine. Or how about the Elites holding energy swords watching Master Chief through an observation window, and if you grapple up to that high window, they will all put on a invisibility cloak and run away in different directions.

And then there’s the unintended humor, like the paraplegic Wizard of Oz monkeys that are supposedly scarier than the Flood, or how about the Banished getting decimated by one lone spartan even though that same spartan couldn’t beat the Banished with thousands of allies and ships surrounding him. I think these things were pretty funny if you ask me.

Oh I didn’t know some of those things. Thanks for telling me!

This however is a serious bruh moment and is part of the reason why 343’s Halos are missing some sort of charm.

This guy is hilarious

Are these the Endless?

I guess there’s good and bad jokes. :woman_shrugging:
