We got $6, $25, $99 REQ Packs before Social Slayer

Sounds like a headline from The Onion, but sadly this is our reality.

I really didn’t think 343 could get much worse in my eyes, but they’ve managed to do it with Halo 5.

It is laughably clear that they could care less about anything other than selling REQ packs.

$25 for REQ packs LOL. How about $25 for Social Slayer, Team Snipers, Team Doubles, Team Objective, some BR start options, and a map that wasn’t barfed out of an existing map? Or medals? Or ability to hear my friends in lobby?

This is insanity.

Never even thought about it, but that’s funny as hell. How do they get away with this stuff?

Why do people even care about social? Ffs if you want to play that unbalanced -Yoink- then there’s be right back or warzone. Slayer is competitive, that’s what it should be.

BTB is social Slayer. Just because it’s 8v8 doesn’t make it any less valid. If you really want to play a non-Ranked 4v4 Slayer, I recommend setting up a Custom Game with like-minded individuals on these forums. I’m sure finding 7 other people wouldn’t be too difficult.

Yet people are still riding 343i’s

I did think Social Slayer was needed. However It would be quite possible you would get more one sided matches. Not to mention it would split the player base. Just not sold on simple social slayer. Now Social Action Sack is another story. Action Sack is definitely need with wacky gametypes that nobody can take seriously.

You can say that any gamemode is competitive, and it doesn’t mean it is.

I think Dino Blasters is competitive.

But have we ever seen it in an esports tournament?

343i wants money. Req packs will make them money, while adding gamemodes increases time spent playing, which means less need to buy req packs.
Think about it.

For me, it’s less about Social and more about more variety in game types. I want to play some Oddball, Grifball, KotH, BTB Heavies, VIP, Action Sack, etc…(Yes, I know they are “Coming Soon”). Warzone doesn’t offer that.

Becau–… You see… God, I actually do not know how to explain this one. I’m even just came out of class on Video Game Production.
I’ll tell you this, 343i isn’t the only people doing this. A large chunk of the gaming industry is exploiting their communities to make more money.
So I can’t explain how they get away with it, but they get away with it. I just hope this doesn’t continue on in the industry for too long.

BTB is not Social Slayer. It’s BTB (on awful forge maps). Every other Halo has had Social Slayer, AND BTB. AND plenty of other playlists. You can fill in the blank with any no brainer playlist that is missing (which I mentioned in the OP).

Telling people to “play customs” in order to play a playlists we’ve had for 13+ years is STUPID.

Im sorry but this is pathetic. And “uh were sorta working on a playlist for end of Feb” is not a valid excuse.

These guys are practically shouting at the Halo community that all they care is to empty your wallets for REQ microtransactions rather than what the community wants. How anyone can defend 343 by now is beyond me.

I always saw those 100 dollar packs and the like as a christmas thing to get other people or yourself I almost bought one for my brothers, since it showed up around that time

I dont mind a company making money, but the req packs for sale are just too obtrusive.

The reqs themselves are great, but that development has taken away from so many other areas its upsetting. Halo 5 is great, but not really. Plays well, but far loo limited and shallow when it comes to gametypes and diversity of play experiences.

I’m in almost total agreement with ya. Except for the bold part. BR starts would be no good for H5.

Could not be more true! It’s a shame because in theory the Req system is perfect, but unfortunately 343 have decided to abuse it. I think if they added Social Slayer it would reduce the Warzone population and decrease the want for req packs. Everything is calculated towards keeping that handful of the population who is actually paying money for those things. If 343 had released a full game then they wouldn’t need to play these tricks to keep people interested, it’s so dumb.

Different teams… Use your logic a bit…

same purse.

Boggling my mind that 343 prioritise REQ money when the game after 4 months still lack content.

SMH MS/343.

Yup! Exactly. Release an addicting game with plenty of playlists/gametypes/fun weekend stuff, they would have a much higher population which would mean more people falling for their REQ pack scam.
