"We don't want to weaponize FOMO"

They have a post on youtube that came out today about the weekly reward.

The last sentence," Get it you it will drive juzu crazy!"

:facepunch:

I thought the same thing when I saw the tweet.

These FOMO-induced rewards totally contradict the ideology of incorporating seasons (battle passes) that won’t expire. It’s such a huge setback, especially compared to MCC. I’d be willing to bet that they insisted on incorporating these rewards to try and boost the player count in small bursts.

FOMO seems to have been a last resort for them to keep player interest as high as possible. I just joined the game yesterday and was shocked at how long it took me to find a match in QP. I don’t mean that in an overly negative way, but it’s just a bummer how Infinite has been out for less than six months and it’s already lost a significant portion of its player base. I suppose that’s bound to happen with any free-to-play game, but I don’t even think Halo 5 dipped this hard until after around a year and a half past its release date.

I never had problems finding Halo 5 matches. I was playing that for two years after release. Just last summer I jumped in and found matches right away.

But if what you’re saying about Infinite is true, I say good. Let it die. I lost all care to even play the game for fun, never mind try and get “rewards” because of fear of missing out on them.

343i can’t even make a cute tweet without y’all getting mad.

Maybe because people don’t want cute tweets, we want things to assure us the game is gonna be alright.

It’s like going to counseulling and the Psychiatrist goes UwU

That’s the first thing I thought, too :joy:

The desire to make a lousy pun overpowered the mandate to adhere to a consistent stance on FOMO apparently

These rewards, what do they do exactly? They must have a huge impact in-game if players are willing to go to such great lengths to obtain them.

You’ll find the answer you’re pretending to be after in here somewhere:

Try your best not to compare mental health to a v i d e o g a m e .

Analogies do not have to be reflective in scale, just in concept.

But fine, since you’re so fragile and I have to use another analogy, then imagine going to your local government and asking if they’re gonna fix the broken water pipes in your neighbourhood and they reply with “UwU, go for a swim lmao”

They didnt compare it to mental health. They compared it to going to a professional and not getting the service promised or the quality your paying for. And the thing your paying for in this case is your time.

Like, see, ya’ could have used that way, way better analogy than one that made you look desperate.

The dropping player number kinda tells them what a lot of the playerbase thinks about (not only) their weekly “reward” fomo crap.

Serves them right. I hope it tanks. Hopefully the next entry will be from another developer.

A cute tweet?
They literally lied and you still defend them, lol

Well you see, the story is in the phrasing. What “We don’t want to weaponize FOMO” actually means is “We didn’t want to weaponize FOMO, but we ran out of bright ideas”

Thanks mate! Hahaha Dirty_Nurse is the same troll that comes here for weeks/months to ask what customization does! Hahaha! This brings me so much joy. :joy:

Agreed, it’s terrible the way they are running this. The only time I’ve played in the past month or so was to pick up the tactical ops gear, since it was the first serious Halo gear they’ve put out since the battlepass.

Always something tricky up their sleeves. And I love it!
