We do not want Microtransactions

This is probably one of the biggest things that the Halo community will ask for but 343 probably wont even listen (this post will probably be locked as soon as its post) remember back in the days of Halo 3 when armour was EARNED! Not just through ranking up either but from achievements too and it was hard sometimes!

If 343 want to listen to the community about what we want and don’t want then hear this one out…

WE
DON’T
WANT
MICROTRANSACTIONS!

Nobody wants this!

If it means I get free content updates with a transparent in-game store where the microtransactions are not lootboxes–something they already confirmed–ala Warframe, then yes, I want microtransactions.

Agreed. I don’t think lootboxes are a proper way of unlocking pieces for customization.

Games nowadays are more focused on the online side and the offline part is usually less content. Remember when playing offline multiplayer was the same as online for Halo 2-4? The only difference being you playing on the same console or playing with people with a network.

The same goes for unlocking things in games. Now most games have microtransactions and lootboxes, but back then, everything could be earned by completing challenges, unlocking achievements, or any other way that doesn’t involve lootboxes like the credit system in Halo Reach.

It’s strange. No matter how many critics give companies crap for having lootboxes or microtransactions in games, many companies still use them to this day. If companies keep putting lootboxes and microtransactions in games, then I will stand by with what I say and I will never support lootboxes and microtransactions.

If what you can buy is purely cosmetic and doesn’t give anyone an upper hand in gameplay I don’t mind micro transactions. It’ll help raise money for additional DLC and other projects on top of them possibly being free. That said I do want some things earned, and not randomized REQ’s like Halo 5 but I understand how it makes people want to keep playing till they get what they want.

A system of microtransactions and unlocking things through challenges could be done quite easily. If they took the credit system from Reach and added microtransactions that just added more credits to your account it would work pretty well.

As far as why companies keep putting them in games is because they can make loads of money from them. Who cares about how much hate they get from critics, as long as they can turn an extra profit it doesn’t matter.

MTs are fine as long as they dont effect gameplay. If someone doesnt want to grind for say a rare helmet or what not, & wants to just pay $5 for it, have at it.

So lets make that helmet meaningless to those who actually put in the time and effort to get it .

Ya, I’m sure we will get free content updates again at the expense of them being withheld at game launch. Nothing like getting staple modes like griffball, zombies, btb months after release. Soon with a relatively tiny amount of maps at release while 343 waits for the community to forge the ma’s for them. Just give me the old school game and old school purchase style.

meh i could care less if someone else would pay for something, knowing i earned something is all thats needed. Plus if this were to happen maybe it would just be for exclusives, who knows. MTs are returning, my aswell try to think of them in a postive way. Sure id like there to be none, but its part of the business now.

Its part of business as long as its profitable. If enough of the community doesn’t buy the game out of protest then it certainly won’t be profitable. 343 and Microsoft are businesses. They seek one thing, money. Speak with our wallets and we will get results. There is nothing positive about microtransactions.

I don’t mind micro transactions as long as its not random. If Halo infinite has loot boxes and/or random progression then I’m done with Halo.

funny you mention warframe since its free-to-play

Considering what kind of content was in the REQ packs, and how popular player customization is.
I feel uneasy about the availability if colors.
Emblems themselves went from all available, to unlocks through challenges to that and REQ pack unlocks.

it isn’t strange when you think about it. Cutting content to sell later is cheap, pre-order bonuses makes sure plenty of fans get the product before bad reviews drop and lootboxes aren’t regulated yet, so they can prey on gambling addictions quite easily. Ain’t nothing new either… TV churches anyone? Worked (and works) in a fairly similar fashion. :expressionless:

The main goal for a big company - like an AAA publisher - is to make as much money as possible. If that means introducing predatory mechanics or to hide content behind online services and paywalls, so be it. Hi might not end like this, but not because we voiced our opinions. Hell no! It’s because the IP got damaged quite badly over the last few years, and therefore it’s losing value. The political environment right now ain’t helping them either. With all those pushbacks MS needs to win us over again. If they succeed however, the money sucking will start once more and making good games and stories becomes secondary…

I thought they confirmed that there would not be any lootboxes with actual money in Halo Infinite.

343i confirmed there ain’t going to be paid Lootboxes, which already is a great news!^^ It doesn’t mean though there want be microtransactions or some form of gambling system. And seeing what new positions have been opened up recently… We’re doomed! Hahaha! :joy: :see_no_evil:

Complain to Microsoft. You think 343i wants to frustrate and disappoint everyone? Every developer knows the majority of gamers don’t want micros, it’s up to the publisher whether they want to force them in or not. Unfortunately, they’re way too lucrative for publishers not to force them into their multiplayer games. I just hope they’re not gameplay intrusive.

Ya, after all of h5’s issues 343 clearly is doing everything to not disappoint…

Disappointing and wanting to disappoint are two very different things lol

If it’s in game currency that can’t be bought and is rewarded in sizeable amounts in game, I say who cares. Basically the same thing we did in Reach for armor. We bought it with credits we earned in game and couldn’t buy with real money. It kills me how people say they want a Reach style armor system but the same people turn H3 purist and say they only want armor to be earned through completion, ranks, and achievements.
