We do not need microtransactions

From what I have read( and correct me if I’m wrong) 343 has said that there will be microtransactions in halo 5. The last thing we need is to have pay to win in halo. I am incredibly pissed off that 343 is turning halo in this direction. I can only hope that they change this, and take out microtransactions

by the way, the reason waypoint says that I am very new is because I started in halo 4( kinda in reach) but have played all of the games

from what I heard so far, they are optional and not necessary at all if you don’t want to use them and just want to progress as normal. As you said even having them is the game is unnecessary.

Microtransactions in a single gamemode that you can still acquire in-game and even if you purchase them you still have to earn them. I’m not worried, unless they migrate in Arena.

Oh look another one of these threads…

Another person who seems clueless to the fact map packs will be free?

If you want free DLC maps and an unsplit matchmaking community, then yes they are necessary. And from what we’ve seen, this isn’t “pay-to-win” as so many are saying. Most of the unlocks from the microtransactions are only cosmetic and the small amount that aren’t, like weapon variations or vehicles, are exclusively in Warzone, a casual for-fun gametype.

And if that’s not enough, you need actual skill to be able to even USE the unlocks because you can’t use them in Warzone until you get enough REQ energy from playing. Not to mention you can get REQ packs just by playing the game, no purchasing required and nothing is exclusive to only buyable REQ packs so you can get everything in-game.

I feel like everyone complaining about these microtransactions doesn’t understand how they work, which is unfortunate because there’s a thread dedicated to explaining them at the top of the page at all times.

When you consider that we are getting all the maps for free.

A portion of the profit from REQ packs goes into the Prize Pool for the Halo Championship League.

You can still get the same items within the game without spending a single penny.

The game changing items are restricted to one gamemode.

And even then, You still have to earn the items within Warzone before you can call them in and use them.

With all that said and done; I will take this REQ system over having us pay for DLC maps.

The only real issue from this is how this will affect future games.

You don’t want Micro-Transactions? Alright, then the 15 maps to be released for free after Oct 27th 2015, now cost an additional $40-$50 (3 maps for $8-$10) on top of the cost of Halo 5: Guardians.

Sounds good?

I didn’t think so.

Micro-transactions are not pay to win. They’re in one game mode (Warzone), where you have a chance to unlock cosmetic items along with weapons and vehicles. Even if you unlock a really good weapon/vehicle, you still need to perform well in that game to get the points to unlock the ability to even use that weapon/vehicle. So bad players won’t be able to use good weapons/vehicles and even if they do get a chance, they won’t last long.

Please read up on Josh Holme’s blog post about how micro transactions and REQ packs work before commenting further.

Keep in mind people: IT’S ONLY IN WARZONE
