We did it Spartans and Sangheli, We Won, we beat MTX in MCC!

I’m so sick of this -Yoink!--backwards argument as if MTX are any better. A divided playerbase is better than an obliterated one.

like i said, look at all they’ve given us, campaign has to be bought but the multiplayer was added for free and they added some completely new maps in halo 3 also free, so i don’t know see why they would charge now for a few extra remade maps. i dont see them adding anymore maps after this, im just saying halo 2 has more maps, they’re adding free content to H2A, maybe they could remake the rest of the classic maps and add them for free too.

I’m very pleasantly surprised about this and also the change in leadership.

The level of quality that went into the H2A remakes is too high for them just to push out the remaining dozen. Truth be told I doubt we will see any brand new maps added. The Halo Online maps have the benefit of being mostly completed and are H3 friendly. The work to add them wouldn’t be as monumental as all the H2C maps in H2A. Possibly a few H4 ports into H2A as they are similar engines, but anything beyond that is wishful thinking.

oopsie didnt mean to offend you

Hip-hip hooray…………. Now how do we increase player count?

I will spend another $100 on a newer version of MCC that supports H5 and Infinite implementation. Biggest blunder since original MCC launch.

I feel like this a kind of bittersweet victory. Yes, it’s official, we won’t see purchasable Spartan Points in the future. That is great. As is the intention for removing the level cap, retroactive points for people over the cap, and ideas as to how to make the challenges more rewarding.

These are all great.

But, the bitterness of it all is that it should have never happened in the first place. Surely based on what they’ve seen in Halo Infinite, 343 should have had enough awareness to recognize that most players wouldn’t want any kind of microtransaction in MCC. But they went through with it anyways. And it was only by literal months of fierce and vehement backlash that they pulled back on that.

And then there’s the wording of it all. They only said that they would no longer explore purchasable Spartan Points. My concern is that they’ll look for other ways to put in microtransactions in MCC that we’re not yet aware of. Perhaps this is getting into conspiracy, but it should be simple for them to just say “We can confirm that we will not be further pursuing any form of microtransactions and/or monetization in MCC.”

I really hope that their statement on spartan points is also indicative of other forms of microtransactions, I really do. But I have no way to know that without an explicit statement from 343, so I can’t make any assumptions based on trust. That trust is just not there.

I feel like the change of leadership also played a large role in this decision.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they try this BUT if they do, the community will fight back on it just like the last two times 343 tried to do so.

Given how 343 has lied about pretty much everything regarding Infinite it’s understandable you don’t trust them, they aren’t trustworthy. If they really want to earn our trust for the MCC outright state the following sentence: “There will never be any microtransactions of any kind in the Master Chief Collection until the year 2552.”

That would not only get a good laugh from the community but it would put the conspiracy theorists, who are absolutely right to be worried about the wording, at ease.

That’s a good one, lol.

Even if that announcement didn’t explicitly mention campaign split screen, that was the implication that the majority of Halo fans ended up adopting. Something that 343 and Microsoft allowed to continue without any clarification or transparency. All in all, a disgraceful business practice.

Agreed, on all fronts. What I really wonder is whether or not the phrasing was intentionally vague so that it could be gone back on if they didn’t think they could deliver.

The reality is 343 doesn’t have much of a choice. Twice now the community has made it clear that MTX are unacceptable for MCC.

EDIT: For clarification I mean 343 doesn’t have a choice in microtransactions the community has made it clear as day that they WILL “abandon ship” if 343 tries to add MTX to MCC thus removing any kind of choice 343 has on the matter. MCC is their ONLY goodwill generator like I’ve been repeatedly saying, you’d have to be oblivious to the nth degree to go out of your way to destroy that goodwill when you so desperately need it in current time,
referencing that every announcement 343 makes regarding Infinite sets off the community like a volcano.

343, just update MCC for free like you promised, and continue monetizing Infinite and making the current game your money maker. DO NOT try to make a decade old collection of games suddenly start charging people for in-game cosmetics when that wasn’t in any of the collections games originally.

Am I the only one who doesn’t mind having MTX in MCC? Of all the things to complain about, paid-for cosmetics aren’t even in the top of my list. If it kept the game alive and in-business I wouldn’t mind paying a reasonable amount every now and then for new content, especially for a 20 year old franchise.

This community is amazing in what it expects for free.

What exactly does the community expect for free when every player has paid a premium and/or subscription to play?

it’s likely they’re a lot easier to remove than you’d think, given what happened to the other 7 unreleased sets that were in Season 5’s files. at most the only difference would be the new bipeds being replaced with clones of the legacy bipeds that have a few new pieces in the old style.

regardless it’s still unlikely they’d ever put that level of effort in though, given how they refused to bring the rest of the H2A Mark VI Campaign model over to update all the Mark VI pieces in the New Visuals to match with all the new armor they were adding (only bringing the techsuit over for the Gen 1 textures)

Just try to remember that you can’t play this game at all for free. It’s not like other games on Steam. You have to pay a $60 yearly subscription for the online capabilities. And the base price is still $40, $60 when it first released for Xbox One.

So, no, the community isn’t wanting something that’s “free,” what they want is good value for their money. And microtransactions would decrease that value.

Its still hard to believe that a decade ago Skyrim had a pair of 20 dollar expansions, which added new regions to explore, new enemies, new voice acting, new equipment, new spells, new stories, etc etc.

Infinite launches and its 20 dollars for the color white and 1 set of armor.
