I’m elated to say this will be my last “MTX in MCC” post. I want to say congrats to everyone who spoke up, we did it, we won, we ensured the MCC will remain pure and free of MTX. I’d also like to thank 343 for listening to the community on this crucial topic.
Well I’m off to go play more MCC now.

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but 343 did not confirm there won’t be microtransactions in MCC.
They specifically worded it that “we will not be further pursuing purchasable Spartan Points for MCC”.
This was the same original wording (Purchasable Spartan Points) from the June update.
Hopefully they take a firm stance on Microtransactions as a whole. Maybe someone can tweet at them to clarify.

I’ll drink to that, I’m really stocked with this outcome I’m glad play2earn won’t be a secondary option

Cheers! Can’t wait to actually play MCC without having to constantly think about uninstalling it. Now all we need is removable Forge boundaries and private file increase and the game will be perfect!

if the trade off is purchasable map-packs return for the remaining H:O maps and more H2A remakes, there’s at least a precedent and enough people who would be able to tolerate it because of that precedent. (there’s also a fair few people who’ve been asking for a map-pack per map-pack toggle list anyways)
if they sell the entirety of H:O as an additional multiplayer for MCC, and move all of the new cosmetics from Halo 3 back over to H:O, that would probably be the best thing to happen to the collection overall (though they would need to add the legacy ODST and Pilot armor pieces from Halo 3’s campaign to the multiplayer so that the game isn’t getting too raw of a deal)

Odds are that last bit won’t happen even if they do port Halo Online over. The most likely outcome is H3 would still keep those armors as they are now part of MCC’s H3 engine. So Halo Online and H3 would have the same armor.

Very happy to see this today!

The wording is purposefully vague for future plausible deniability, but at minimum MCC should be safe for a few years from MTX.

This is the second time the community has put their foot down against MTX in MCC and it’ll continue to happen until 343 gives up on MTX in MCC entirely.

Hearing and seeing this puts a smile back on my face. I guess I won’t be uninstalling MCC after all. On a side note, the only issue I have with it is it never shows up under “Popular with friends” on the Xbox app.

This. But corporations won’t do that since they don’t want to rule out potential vectors for profit completely.
However, even if they did, I don’t think we can trust them given all the promises they’ve broken. Hopefully the new leadership team tries to reach out more to the community and build a more positive relationship again

This brings me joy, I wonder if this decision has something to do with the reshuffling at 343i?
If that is what caused this, that’s a really good sign for the future of Halo.

Now if only Microsoft would listen for the Halo Infinite store…

Sad to hear that.
Sometimes I wonder if the phrasing of these things is intentional. Like when Bonnie Ross said the thing about co-op years ago, it technically didn’t mention campaign splitscreen co-op, and could arguably have referred to MP splitscreen. Same with what Chris Lee said later on, it sounded like what we wanted to hear, but wasn’t any kind of legal guarantee.

Not perfected just yet, We need the original main menus, and the classic menu music for Halo CE and Halo 2.

i feel like they should have remade all halo 2 maps, i know we can play classic mp too but it would be great to see what they look like remade. i would definitely pay for new maps but with all they’ve given us, why charge for more content now?

They charged for Reach Campaign/Firefight and the entirety of ODST. Why not map packs?

You neglect to mention that they added Reach multiplayer to all Xbox players at no extra cost. The model for map packs will divide the player base. Additionally before all of the 360 services were sunset all map packs were made free. The map pack model is over.
