We can't fight it anymore

Guys, after playing Reach last night, I’ve come to a conclusion: we can’t keep fighting this war against the changes. It is… inevitable. Believe me, I am just as scared as anyone about the the changes, there were many things in Reach that I hated. Reach was an opportunity that Bungie squandered because they failed to balance it properly and they failed to appeal to the competitive spirit of Halo. With 343i, I haven’t seen that attitude.

They recognize that these changes will be scrutinized, and they are just fine with that. They wanted feedback, good or bad; I appreciate that. Plus, they actually seem to listen to us. They gave us the TU, they gave us back our DLC playlist, and they gave us Anniversary. They even took the opportunity to let some MLG players play the game; it’s a gesture of goodwill. So, yes, we should be wary of the changes, skepticism is good, but we should keep an open mind. This isn’t Bungie in the last hour; I don’t think they will throw the competitive spirit of Halo away, I think they want to bring it back. So, lets see where this train goes. I’m looking forward to E3.

Finally, someone decided to wake up take things for what they are. It’s futile to fight it; you might as well try to cope with the changes, because if you don’t, you’re going to be raging harder and left behind in the dust.

Reach came as light change to me, in other words, it didn’t have a major effect on me. So I’m sure I’ll be able to take whatever Halo 4 has to throw at me. My intentions are to like something first, not hate it and nit pick its flaws to death. Everything has a flaw.

If you knew me pre-Reach, I was very excited for Reach and promoted all of the changes. After about a month of Reach? I saw it as the worst Halo game ever. Everything was slow, the maps were terrible, etc. No-one wants to go into a game hating it, but when you get burned by a previous game and the new game is bringing features from the last game and adding more "alien’ features, their fear is not unfounded.

Great post Green Dragon.

I have been skeptic of Halo 4 recently, but my excitement for the game outweighs this.THe more of the game we have been shown the more excited I am for it.

As am I, however, I will remain skeptical. Do I like everything 343i seems to be doing? No. Will I give them a chance as I’ve done all of the games I’ve owned or formerly owned? Yes.

I was the same way up until I realized I was getting very very few multikills from the bloom DMR. It just…didn’t work for that without grenades.

I am always open to change, and I support 343i in their decisions. I just want to have Halo feel like Halo again.

(Btw I still loved Reach. Had it not had Halo in the title, people wouldn’t rage so hard about it.)

Reach is good game, it’s the bad players that moan about it. As for Halo 4, I’m excited for it but my expectations are not as high as they were for Halo 3 and Reach. 343i are alright but they hide behind excuses and take ages to get anything done. I’m not happy with 343i but I’m giving them a chance to get Halo 4.

“Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it”.

You could have said so many things to support your argument, but saying it’s the bad players that moan about it is completely false.

Actually, I consider myself fairly good at Reach. I win a majority of my games and walk out with a good K/D (most of the time). I still hate a lot of the crap they shoved in there (100% Bloom, Armor Lock, crappy maps), as do many of the competitive players who are better than me and a majority of the people who play this game. The “bad players” you’ve described them as were the best at the previous Halo games and are still the best at Reach.

Since we’re “stat comparing” I’m better than you at Reach. I was trying to avoid the “stat flame” argument, but you brought it on yourself.

It wasn’t up to par with the trilogy, agreed. It still offered a halo experience, which is why I still like it. It could’ve been much better. The abundance of crappy forge maps through me off and nearly decent original maps.

I just try not to toss Reach’s unfortunate sufferings onto Halo 4. Yeah it has AAs, doesn’t mean people should start ransacking the game. I think Halo 4 will be better than Reach at the least. It will be a good one imo.

I’m expecting Halo 4 to be a good Reach. I’m not expecting it to be better than HCE and H2, but it will certainly be better than Reach, and maybe even H3.

This is the way I am starting feel. It will be hard not looking at Halo 4 and saying it’s a “Reach,” but I’ll judge it by its own merits, and not Reach’s failures. From what I’ve seen and heard though (with clarifications), it’s already starting to sound 10x better than Reach.

LOL! I play with some really good players, Multiple 1% in Arena, and the only social we play is MLG against other competent players constantly.

We all hate Reach besides those two playlists, and we all miss Halo 2, and Halo 3 toa ridiculous amount.

I would say it is the lesser players are the ones who love change, because in that sense they can maybe strive over us.

I’m not an arena man myself, but this is true. Too bad that they have forgotten that even the players who “hate” the changes will “adapt” to them and still be the best. When I was on the Bungie forums many “casual hardcore Halo players”(including myself)were praising the changes because we thought it would lower the “monopoly” that the skilled players had over the less skilled. But I was ignorant back then, and had no idea…

THANK YOU!

You sir are the embodiment of evolution, and growth. It is nice to know someone who actually, truly understands things.

Everyone thank this guy, He deserves it.

Thanks, but it’s just many of the realities that I’ve come to accept.
People shouldn’t expect the game mechanics to cater to them to make them better (they tried that with Reach, and it did’t work; hell, I’d say the AAs and no ranking system made things worse for the casuals, because they aren’t the only ones who can use them). You have to make yourself better at the game. Is it a tough road and time consuming? Yes… but the payoff feels so satisfying.

Speak for yourself. I am very excited for the changes, and so are many others. You are acting as if nobody at all is excited for it,but that’s not the case. So, once more, speak for yourself.

If you had any sense of “qualifiers” you’d understand I’m talking about the people who fear the coming change. Read between the lines, dang it. This thread wasn’t made for you.

Ladies, and gentlemen the second coming of Albert Einstein right here on the Halo 4 forums.

My ultimate respect goes out to this guy for being real.
