We are the Covenant. Its as simple as that. Thanks to Oni believe it or not. By enslaving the engineers after the war have made up evolve much faster in the halo universe then we could have. They also started a war between the elites to help their own reasons. Because we are relying on the engineer to get us to advance we could slowly become just like the covenant, and with Oni lieing through their teeth they are nothing but our prophets.

Im not big on lore so I don’t know how we could do it. What I do know is the benefits with dethroning them.

We would stand a chance against the precursors: The old humans who fought the forerunners had help from the prophets but the flood beat them down. if the precussors came back, or even the forerunners full strength (While we are a mere quarter of are ancient counter part) we would loose. Are only hope would be joining as one which oni does not want.
Unless you are putting bombs on engineers and sending them into the battlefield they aren’t being enslaved. They were created to work on technology for them this is nothing but a new project with a new lead, not enslavement.
They are instigating a war within the elites for political instability. Personally i think it is stupid to invest in the side that is anti-human and has a significant chance of winning but whatever.
You are right within regards of us becoming like the covenant due to using technology we don’t understand. The entire “forerunner slipspace core” has to be the worst plot device i have ever seen,period. While the engineers are making all these creations few of them are fully understood but then again we are working to understand them.
You can see the greater grasp of understanding in spartan OPs were we have several dozen capable scientist working with forerunner technologies and understanding them.
Why in the world would the grunts be on any council before the lekgolo,kig-yar, or the brutes?

IF the humans had any help from the San Shyuum it wasn’t any where at the level the forerunners thought og, but then again they refused to think that humans had technologies to compete with them in the first place.
From the little foreshadowing in silentium i think we would be the ones to start a war with the forerunners but then end it abruptly. I am still iffy on the concept of precursors attacking humans as we had already proven ourselves twice already that we should hold the mantle.
