We already know there is a hidden "battle worn/dirt" slider for armor. Just add it to the game!

Players getting a battle worn & dirty Halo 5 level 152 armor coating reward instead of the shiny & new promised armor coating.

And now I see someone getting mad at how shiny and new the Red Shift armor coating looks, instead of the promised battle worn & dirty armor coating that was promised: https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/sds5wk/red_shift_hasnt_looked_right_to_me_since_launch/

Some people like their armor new and others don’t. We know this feature is already in the game, only that it is hidden from the players. Just add it to the game!

DOOM could make it work in 2016. Why can’t Halo Infinite in 2022?

How are they supposed to make money and profit from slightly different variations if they give us the tools to customise how we want our Spartans to look for free?

I don’t get where you guys came from. Back with Halo 5, everyone disliked how pristine and plastic everything looked. We’re soldiers in war, and we should look like it.

they shouldnt have gone ftp lol, not our fault 343 cant handle the halo ip.

@Whiskaye, you missed the snarkasm.

They sell it as premium customization option. Or better yet they sell each different level of weathering as variants; to bang the most bucks out of their playerbase; like the idiocy of separate cores and emblems.

Well because then how would the sell you 120 different variations of puke green with sunny-d orange accents

I get that y’all think we’re soldiers in war and should have dirt and grime and whatever else you want to toss on, but I’m unable to agree, simply because I’m one of those few thousand people who has to deal with the way they changed Watchdog.

You guys might not care if you look as new and clean as an action figure or as weathered and worn as the two tablets Moses wrote the Ten Commandments on. But as somebody who saw Watchdog in the preliminary photo stage and thought it looked incredible, I’m not happy with the way it turned out.

It was supposed to be clean, it was supposed to shine and stick out. Then 343 decided to 180 on us and completely flip the script on those few thousand players who really wanted it. I put over a hundred days on Halo 5 because I love the game, Watchdog was just a bonus for when Infinite came out.

I got Full Achilles, I got 100% commendation progress, and I hit 152 to top it all off. So in my eyes, Watchdog was going to be what validated six or so years of work and love for Halo 5.

But then the game released and I didn’t recognize it. I don’t regret the work I put into Halo 5, but I wonder what made 343 decide to change their minds.

I think a slider would be great. Because part of me is convinced that Watchdog is really as shiny as it was in prelims, (I take a lot of screenshots so I’ve seen all sorts of different light hit the armor, and sometimes it looks like the preliminary photos did with about ten added layers of dirt and grime.)

So that got me thinking. What if they didn’t screw us by changing the shine itself, but rather how much dirt hid that shine? I really hope I’m right, and I do hope they add a slider. Because it would mean you could either have it look like it did in the prelims, or how it does right now in game. You can look flashy, or you can look battle worn. I think it’s a win for both sides, but only if 343 does something about it.

Reason why, IMO, Willow Tea, is the best armor coating for the MK7 right now. Yeah sure, the white and black with orange and gold accent is a good color combination. But to me, the coating is awesome for the feet and shin area; it’s muddy looking.

But that would allow the players more customization freedom, oh the horror!

I’d pay to make my own armor coating. Then, creators can put up their coatings and people buy or be featured as rewards or on BP or whatever. Marketplace effects ensue and let 343i collect transaction fees. Minecraft has a vibrant set of content (bedrock) where creators put their work up for sale, Microsoft gets a cut of the coins used to buy on there.

Add the grime/dirt slider in there, but customization is really what I’d be willing to pay for. Let there be a review process for Xbox-ToS-friendly textures and such, but people would go crazy if they could make their own armor coatings and such.

Right but all the paid ones actually look really nice. The acquired ones should have the choice.

Yeah… but… I’d prefer the choice. I really hate how the Willow Tea coating has so much damn dirt in the crotch. Looks like I drank one of those ‘detox’ teas instead and pooped the suit lmao

I feel you bro, I feel you… Been trolled we have it feels.

It’s interesting to speculate that there’s a “slider” when it could just be further development in textures.

Look at the original Halo 5 models versus the final product for example.

Nah, I don’t think so. That’s why I also posted the Red Shift example. That armor was presented dirty, but came out shiny. And watchdog was presented shiny, but came out dirty. There has to be a slider, otherwise 343 is making it really hard for themselves.

The slider will no doubt be a feature in the game at some point. I just don’t want to wait 2 years for it to happen.

This is why I love the cyberpunk armor so much. It’s already coated with muck. A slider would be fantastic though.

Easy. 343 wasn’t involved in the production of DOOM 2016 in any way whatsoever. That’s why it was good.

If you want the scratches off your Watchdog coating, it’ll be 2000 credits. If you want scratches on your Red Shift, it’ll also be 2000 credits. Just be patient after purchase, because it will take about 3 to 8 months for it to be applied. If you have any issues with your purchase, be sure to send a waypoint support ticket. Any bugs will be ironed out as soon as possible, but be sure to give 343 plenty of time, because they’re still learning.

Jokes aside, let’s start keeping track of how many cosmetics are untextured, incorrectly textured, crooked, the wrong size, or still entirely missing from the game

If I got a slider for every armor I’d probably pay those 2000 credits. Even though I think it should be available for free, I can spend the money. Others can’t though.
