We already have the roadmap, what do you think?

Take you lull, your break, and then, when next season drops - get your money.

With Forge and a customs browser the casual non-grind non-comp reasons to play will SKYROCKET. You’ll just play for fun basically. Then, when the season comes out, bam. Drop the tenner, start grinding again, cool down with friends.

It’s part of a long play, bait hook and release. You do not want a game that doesn’t have lull periods - trust me. I’m taking a break from Star Trek Online right now because it is ENDLESS EVENT AFTER EVENT AFTER EVENT and they’re all so GRINDY and it drives me INSANE - yes, the account wide rewards are STAGGERING but YE GODS it’s so much!! AUGH!!

Infinite wants to let the game ebb and flow, this looks like.

I think it’ll be good for the health, but it’s definitely a classic tactic.

I think theyre just trying to cut the seasons in half without garner player negativity against them. Its not about “getting people through battle passes ASAP.” Its about allowing people to play the game at their own pace without missing out on the content they might want.

Like i enjoy Halo and all, but where the game is right now, i definitely do not want to spend even just a couple hours a day grinding if it means i have to play EVERY DAY. I like playing R6 Siege, I like playing Destiny, I like playin Fallout, I like playing Rimworld, I like playing Stardew Valley, I like playing a lot of games that arent Halo and the fact that they arent trying to corral me into only playing their game with the battlepass is respectable.

Okay. And? In the absence of quantity, you can supplement with quality, but Halo Infinite has neither. Halo Infinite is also backed by a multi-billion dollar organization and can easily match Call of Duty’s map output if 343 had half a clue what they were doing and Microsoft had confidence in the product. Evidently, Microsoft does not and 343 has no clue what they’re doing or trying to do with this game.

Just because the competition has more toys to play with, doesn’t mean you can disregard their existence. It just means you have to do better on your end to provide more quality than they can. You can say the comparison is disingenuous, but that doesn’t make the comparison any less true or relevant.

And how is this our problem, except for the fact that it’s resulted in a bad game? If the management team is the problem fire them. If the development is an issue, hire more developers and train the ones you have.

Like, these are excuses for why Infinite is doing poorly, and it annoys me, because a business running effectively shouldn’t have these issues. If managers are poor communicators, they need to either be replaced or trained. If the team can’t match demand, then hire more team members.

Why, I have no idea, especially in the unproven live service lead.

This works in the absence of competition. Dead by Daylight was allowed to grow because it was the only 4v1 experience out there. Rainbow Six Siege grew past it’s growing pains because it was one of the few shooters of its type that was also on console.

Infinite had this luxury, and blew it. By the time the Infinite dev team starts putting out Season 3, Battlefield 2042 will have turned itself around and Modern Warfare 2 will have come out and absolutely consumed what’s left of Infinite’s normal fan base. There will always be people playing Halo Infinite, but the normal players, the non-die hards, will absolutely move onto the more popular thing with more players.

I never said or implied this was acceptable. It isn’t, and the people doing it need to stop talking.

Yeah, that’s exactly why they want more XP faster in addition to challenges.

I want this game to respect my free time, I’m a welder and I’m nearly 30, and I’m saving up to leave my country, get dental work, etc. I need to get things done in the real world. It’s why I’ve chilled on Star Trek Online - it was eating ALL of my time. Dungeon Fighter Online was eating my wife’s time too - it was a rough time for us.

Infinite has… never asked for all my time. They have their daily pool of 6-or-so-matches until it’s (Designed this way) no longer rewarding, and I like that, because gaming isn’t my hobby. I’m an artist, I’m a writer, I’m a musician - I am a woman with a life, friends and things to do.

I cannot spend all my time on my favorite game.

So when my favorite game asks only a bit of my time, an hour or two (part of why I DO like the timed XP boosts, sort of), then we’re good, we’re great. It wants me to log in only a little at a time, and when my weeklies are done, I can chill for the rest of the week. I’m gold.

That is a very good balance.

But, there’s a lot of players who want more - to be inundated.

I left Destiny 2 because it stopped catering to the full time worker I was at the time. I don’t want to be pushed out again because I’m a working adult who has more hobbies than gaming. I want time to game and work on what’s effectively my life’s work.

This is deeply concerning. It kind of feels like 343i have given up on this game. I can’t think of anything to get excited about and I feel like 343i have continued to ignore the complaints and tried to act as if everything is ok.

This is the same 343i that said "“We’ve done a lot of learning from when we fell down, like with multiplayer in MCC, or when we didn’t put split-screen in Halo 5.
I think it’s incredibly painful for the community and for us and I think it erodes trust with the community.”…they literally said it erodes trust with the community and continues to do exactly that.

After the backlash with Infinite’s progression system I would think someone at management would have the sense to realise going back on their word again would be bad for business since more and more people have had it enough and that’s seen often with the massive decline in population.

My biggest problem is the 4 months timeframe with a 30 tier battlepass for a new XP System trial. I am currently tier 98 and there are 70 days left in this season, and i only play once or twice a week for a couple of hours. So as of right now, this new XP Systems looks very bad already. It is either super slow or way too fast and the battlepass will be done way too quick for the amount of time we have it… But we shall see… I guess…

And… Another core for season 3?! WHY. What happend to “we want to move completely away from the core system”?

TRUTH.
And pc-
The ten year plan involving xbone was meant for inclusion i guess.
Not enough supply of consoles too, and since infinite was delayed and launched like this, theres no rush to get a new expensive xbox
These are sad days for halo and xbox fans. Microsoft better pray their purchase of act-blizz goes thru
And though bethesda has doom, they also released fallout 76.
Sure, theres elder scrolls online, but they havent made a new elder scrolls game in a longggg time.
Starfield better be good.

The Split Screen Coop being a thing seems like it was a delusional dream more then anything when so many people are still having difficulties playing the game by themselves. If people can’t get it to run solo play, split screen coop is a little out of the question…

On a side note, playing cyberpunk is amazing just for all the glitches.
But your comparison is correct.
We might have to wonder what could have been with infinite too unfortunately.

Ngl I expected nothing, received close to nothing, so it’s slightly better than nothing?

They started giving us store credits in the BP remember? So technically they kind of are paying us to play the game

The moment they referred to the upcoming features as “network coop” and “local coop”, I knew we were never going to end up getting local coop

A Plague Tale: Requiem is coming out soon, if you’re into rats eating your flesh.

I actually played half the first one…. I thought it was good - just got distracted and never went back to finish it.

I never got around to playing Resident Evil 8 - if it comes out in a sale for Halloween - that’ll be my late October game!

What an excellent reply - thank you… many moons ago I did go down the road of painting the miniatures from warhammer… although I am thinking more digital. I’ll definitely check a few you mentioned - castle story intrigues me as it’s one I haven’t heard of or played.

Seriously disappointing. Constant delays, lack of content, repeating mistakes from previous Halo releases. Season 3 was a chance to claw back some of the player base but I truly believe they’ve missed that opportunity after releasing the updated roadmap.

i’m happy for the forge and coop release (so 343 can finally work on desync), but no
if we got forge, we need a custom game browser, that’s what we need rn imo
at least i’m happy for 2 new maps coming in 5 months instead of 6 and for 3 months seasons
343, this is your last chance, use it good
