We all deserve a say

TL;DR: We all deserve a say in what goes into Halo 4, not just one group of people.

Honestly, I’m quite tired of most everyone thinking that the group the belong to knows everything and anything that they don’t want to be in Halo is a bad feature and will ruin the game. Each individual group thinks that they alone have the answer to Halo’s future, when they in fact don’t.

Halo belongs to every Halo fan, not just those who have the loudest voice or the most amount of followers. 343i realizes this and is adding things for the casuals, the competitives, the classic Halo fans, etc. There are elements in Halo 4 to please all of you, so what’s with all the complaining?

Halo 4 WILL have a Classic playlist, 343i are Halo fans to, and although they are adding features to make Halo more relevant in the market, that doesn’t mean that they have forgotten about the features that made them fall in love with Halo in the first place. They have said that any new features will be non-existent in the classic playlist, and those that have played Halo 4 have said that the core gameplay feels like Halo 2/3, so the classic playlist is looking like it will have a good turnout. Stop complaining about how 343i isn’t just giving us Halo 2 in a new box (I have seen multiple complain about that).

The addition of armor mods and specializations has been a feature that the competitive community has targeted as of late. Saying that they will “ruin Halo”. This is not the case. Simply because 343i adds a way for us to change the game slightly to fit our playing style doesn’t mean that they haven’t put in countless hours of playtesting over the course of the closed Beta in order to ensure that such features are balanced. 343i has the Cortana Web, which tracks pretty much everything that happens in the closed Beta, who killed who, what AA they had, what armor mods they had, etc. If something was overpowered they would know, and try to fix it. There will also be a competitive ranking system. Many will complain that the ranking system is invisible to others, but that was never confirmed other than some guy saying that Frankie said that it may or may not be invisible to others and they were still looking into all their options (if my memory serves me correctly).

Everyone deserves something in Halo 4. The classic fans deserve at least a playlist, the competitives deserve at least some sort of competitive ranking system, and the casuals deserve something in the game as well. I am certain that there are many more groups who are thinking the same way as the 3 I mentioned, but these 3 have been the ones most active on the forums, so I focused on them.

I realize that everyone is going to like/dislike a feature when they see it, there’s no way around that. But they should still wait and play the game before deciding that it is the worst thing to happen to Halo ever, as they never know how the feature will effect the game as a whole. Feel free to make threads about how you are concerned about a certain feature (except if there are 5 bajillion other threads about it), but no one wants to listen to you rant on about how a certain feature, that you haven’t even tested in the full game yet, is going to ruin Halo and make Halo 4 a horrible game.

You speak wise words

> You speak wise words

Indeed he does.

‘A person is wise, but the people are dumb…’

For as you said, OP, people split themselves into groups. People in groups tend to ‘feed’ off eachother. Be it frustration or appreciation. A thread of hate is generally from one who has chosen one side or the other, attacking their opposing side. Thus is human nature. To be at the top and to be right. Or so it appears by reading this site for over a year.

It is unfortunate if you ask me. If a conversation between two people who thought out their decisions instead of picking which side serves their purpose, then you would have far mor intelligent conversations.

Sadly, a lot of the people with big voices have small brains and won’t even bother to read your post and if by some miracle they do, they will either misunderstand it or ignore it. I can’t wait for Halo 4. 343i is doing a great job, even if they are doing some things I don’t personally agree with… like using the Reach Banshee model.

Reach’s banshee model is the best. :stuck_out_tongue:

Nuh uh. It has stubby wings.

In a realistic manner, I’d prefer the flat wings as they seem more aerodynamic.

But I greatly prefer Halo 3’s style of banshee in terms of gameplay since Reach’s is completely OP

Very good point. I’ll add a TL;DR, just so I can get the point across to those who won’t read this.

Yes.

> TL;DR: We all deserve a say in what goes into Halo 4, not just one group of people.

But then you go on to defend your take on the whole controversey and not the otherside of the argument. We all deserve a voice sure, but was this just a sly way for you to argue against the people who don’t approve of the new additions while sounding like “can’t we all just get along!”?

Anyway, Nov. 6th can’t get here soon enough! You love Halo, then I’ll call you friend.

A well written speech/paragraph (which is increasingly becoming more of a rarity on the forums.

I somewhat agree with what you have said and somewhat do not. However it is important to note that no game can be designed for everyone and still expect to hold all of the users interests; and by trying to design a game for everyone you could be effectively damaging the franchise over time.

For example the maps in Halo4 are having to be designed for the Infinity gametypes, the Reach gametypes and the Classic gametypes. This will cause problems unless specific maps are designed for specific gametypes (which is unlikely considering only 10 maps ship with the game).

Often a game has to be designed with a certain audience in mind so it can concentrate on holding that audiences attention and creating a fanbase. Casuals and Competitives can ‘live in harmony’ but both sides will suffer slightly because of it, this could cause Halo’s fan base to drop.

Well at least it doesn’t look like a stick like it did in Halo 3.

I was just trying to say that 343i is indeed adding elements to please everyone to some degree, and that they are making sure they are balanced.

Well at least the banshee’s main gun was actually used in Halo3.

It’s not about function, it’s about beauty and elegance! </3

I think a better TLDR wouldve been: We all deserve a say as long as your polite and attempt to use some grammer.

We’re talking about design, not gameplay.

Whatever happened to the lovely noise that gave the Banshee its name?
