So how would you guys feel of say in a battle at the end of halo infinite it leaves the chief with one arm. N let’s say hasley makes cheif a advanced robotic arm. Then the next game is built around different type of arm upgrades.
Is this too much change for the halo community lol. It sucks we probably won’t ever be able to do something dramatic to cheif like a fight that leaves him never being the same again.
…Maybe we should get Infinite out first, and find out the ending of the Campaign, before speculating about the next next Halo game.
I mean, sure. That idea works for a game. I don’t know about it for Halo, as having upgrades in that sense would be going towards an RPG, but the basic premise of a soldier upgrading their robotic arm throughout their game works.

Actually that wouldnt sount too bad. rather than him dying, him being incapacitated and retiring to be a commander or someone that talks to you while you’re a new character down on the ground would be pretty cool. but obviously something like that won’t be happening for at least 10 years or so.
but I’d still prefer him getting a real death in battle. it would be a better closure for his character.

and this could work with one of the promised story DLCs in the future, maybe we get to play as another spartan with a robotic arm like you said, and upgrades would be pretty cool. if they keep their 10 year plan promise, theres a ton of opportunities for things like this.

The narrative trope of the main protagonist losing their arm comes with the character underestimating a threat and getting in over their head. That’s not really fitting for Chief at such a late and legendary stage in his career. It might fit another Spartan better. The only end I can see for Chief at this point is retirement, sacrificing himself, or a more permanent MIA status.

How that why we don’t get complying stories, losing a body part in war is not a sign of you lost. And chief shouldn’t be Invincible. Just cause he hasn’t found a match yet don’t mean it’s not a brute somewhere that could push him…atriox comes to mind.

I envision it of just like the wrist attachment equipment they have now. But in arm like iron man. So u not switching out arms you just adding more Components throughout the game…like Metriod
I don’t think giving the Chief a prosthetic limb would add any significant change to his personality,
nor would it be “dramatic” in any way. I think you haven’t thought this through enough.

Ok so guys just superman lol. Thats why people prefer batman. It’s no personal stakes. Chief just has plot armor.

I guess you don’t know about about Sam-034 or missed the complete plot of Halo 4 and the finale of Halo 3 then.
Chief’s a lot, but no Superman - he did already lose a lot more than just an arm and he’s scarred - just that his scars aren’t visual.

So yea superman when he lost a love one. Bro that’s the same thing. I’m talking about a character not being Invincible. That’s not the same. I want to think ok chief can be beat.
well halo infinite is a 10 year process which means we have tons of things to discover and major event could happen that led to master chief to change his appearance physically but his over all characteristic and values remains the same, protect the humanity, i rather see john true nature that hide behind the helmet not the soldier who sacrifice him self for mankind i want to know him spiritually when he put his weapon down and think about all he love and lost. some great intimate moment.

Halo multiplayer should just add more equipment and balances until the game absolutely has to innovate again. The franchise needs like 5-10 years of stability.

I’d argue losing a loved one is a heavier price to pay and much more dramatic
than losing a limb which can be replaced the next day.
The Chief isn’t invincible, he has been beaten and just adding a prosthetic limb is poor writing and not dramatic at all.
Like I said, you should think your ideas through.

Yes, in war, -Yoink- happens. Often for anticlimactic reasons. But in a story, everything has to have a purpose. What does Chief losing an arm add to his character? He’s already lost plenty. He’s already mastered the physicality of his craft. His journey is an emotional one.
