Should have made MCC an option because… It ticks literally all the boxes and has continued to grow beyond just being the sum of all the parts
I didn’t trash his opinion.
343 tried to make a COD clone, so it made perfect sense that this guy’s favorite game was Halo 5 after he called slayer deathmatch (a COD staple).
Halo 3 multiplayer is overrated. Most unsatisfying gun sounds, kill sounds, and vass arsenal of irrelevant weapons only if you’re playing for comedy. I don’t understand how people liked playing that game during that time. Such a silent game.
Halo 2, Halo 5, and Halo Infnite in my opinion has the best gunplay. Satisfying sounds, relevant weapons for competitive and fun, and best sounds. Though i am only talking about gunplay. Not a talk about mechanics…
peanutpckrupper these forums are going to be gone in about 20 days what are ya tryna prove
It pleases me to see Reach polling so well. I still remember it being 343’ed on here shortly before 4 came out. It was a game I always enjoyed and in recent years it has been getting the recognition it deserved. CE and 3 were my other top picks, but I decided to give the nod to Reach.
Halo 5 plays NOTHING like CoD.
Tbf, some titles shouldn’t really have a separate entry given how much they still play like their progenitors
Like, ODST is still mostly Halo 3, Halo 5 Forge is just an incomplete Halo 5 PC, CE PC is just CEA PC, and Halo 2 Vista is is H2A PC depending on which H2A is being discussed.
Better entries would have been
- Halo CE
- Halo 2 Classic
- Halo 2 Anniversary Multiplayer
- Halo 3&ODST
- Halo Online
- Halo Reach
- Halo 4
- Halo 5
- Halo Infinite
Well, maybe you should have made the final poll then
.
Your list needs some edits, but it’s not totally unreasonable. ODST campaign should be a separate selection from H3, and H2A campaign doesn’t really have representation for examples
.
Hopefully the war sims treat you well!
Thats because H2A campaign is essentially the same as Halo 2 Classic/Vista, the only difference is a visual engine that can be overlayed during gameplay.
I can agree that ODST campaign is a bit different from Halo 3, though not by too too much.
Deathmatch as a term goes back to Doom 1 (1993) and most games used and still use this term to describe the “shoot everything that moves” gamemode.
ODST is a game that few people truly understand. The way the gameplay subtly changes throughout the campaign is a masterclass in game design. The lack of a Battle Rifle and the Carbine starting off fairly uncommon throughought most of the campaign really forces you to play to the strengths of the other weapons instead of taking the easy way out.
I disagree.
20 Chars
I like them all in there own way, most of the time it depends on my mood as to which I prefer at the time, though H5 and dost are probably the least played
Halo 3 for me.
It just took everything from 1 & 2 and improved upon it. It had a great single player (the co-op being different characters with amazing!!) The music was epic! Forge was just insane when it first came out. MP had all the playlists practically off the bat! UI was excellent! Had clear MLG, ranked & social playlists. Amazing hidden stuff to find in game. Had challenging challenges to earn crazy cosmetics. Great multiplayer maps. The graphics in single player, heck everything we’re Just mind-blowing for the time. Still looks good today. Equipment was a great addition that didn’t break the Halo feel or flow of the game. I could go on and on about Halo 3. Add in ODST, which basically was an expansion pack for 3, You got more great maps (Ghost town!! Love it!) And this incredible mode called firefight which took off in popularity like wildfire!!
Yes, Halo 3 had it all! And you got all this practically at launch for $60-80 dollars (depending on your country) or $120? I think it was for me to get the legendary version ![]()
I’m kinda sad that CE is doing so poorly, but I’m an oldie with so many great memories of split screen coop and 16 player LAN parties…
I’m pumped H5 is knocking on the top 3 door. If I removed all nostalgia bias it would probably be 1 or 2 for me tbh. I played it either as much or more than H3. “You can never have too many flags, let’s go get some more”
.
This is tough - for me, I have to say, from a moment-to-moment gameplay and technical/graphical perspective, I find myself enjoying Infinite the most currently, despite its shortcomings (I am almost entirely a campaign player, however, so grain of salt and all that). The grapple hook is so satisfying, and the upgrades to the AI are great in terms of how they interact with the player and each other. When playing MCC I find myself missing the grapple for movement and missing the less predictable AI.
Of course I love the older games a ton for their nostalgia and memories of my younger days and they hit a spot that nothing else can when I get the itch, but their mechanics and graphics and animations do show their age, to me anyway. H2A would be my choice for the best story and graphical “purity” within the Halo identity.
Halo 3 has the best campaign sandbox balance in my opinion, and the most consistently great sandbox, but is my least favorite in the writing department, next to Reach anyway, in the Bungie games.
3… because thats where i started
But Reach/4 was probably when i was at my peak skill level
H3 or H5 was probably my peak skill level. Right now on Infinite I’m handicapped with a controller that’s starting to get stick drift and a broken left bumper
.
If they don’t announce an elite series 3 with stability improvements, I’m going to shop around for a Battle Beaver or some third party brand. I tend to avoid those, but I’m about to be recycling away my third Xbox Elite controller
.
I know, but it’s tough because that contains 6 title’s and would almost surely win by a landslide.
The fun I’m trying to have with this is making you pick one distinct experience ![]()
Oh absolutely… But that choice is just THE problem. So many small categories which are easy to choose, but weighting them is just so hard
Score/Soundtrack: H2A
