Waypoint Users... what the hell?

Apologies in advance, but i’m going to have to bash at least lightly on the majority of the current waypoint community in this thread,

I want to know why there is this over abundance of pro eSports/competitive try hards flooding these forums. Seriously, why?
But my problem isn’t that they enjoy competitive, my problem is that almost every last one of these players/users feel an excessive need to shoot anything down that doesn’t remotely agree with their “equal starts” and “focus on killing and nothing else” mind set.
It baffles me. I’ve seen so many threads on here just get drowned and flooded despite the post actually being a good suggestion. Threads suggesting features for Halo 6, threads that if paid attention to by the developers, would actually maximize the amount of happy customers, rather than having another game with extremely mixed reception.
I want to know, why do you people do this? what do you get out of it?

Someone talks about how they want armor customization to come back like it was in Reach? (which i’ll just say was a trending thread recently and over 65% of voters want Reach’s customization back so that is nice)
"You should be focusing on the game, nobody cares what your spartan looks like, you don’t see them anyway"
Who are you to decide what people should and shouldn’t be doing with the game that they paid $60 for?! What possible reason could you have as to why a feature such as this shouldn’t be in the game? just as it was prior to Halo MCC.

Someone asks for a classic and beloved gamemode to return, like juggernaut.
"Nobody wants that. Stop trying to waste the developers time, they already gave you infection, isn’t that enough?"
Are you people high? once again there’s no reason why these modes should have been removed, nevermind a reason for them not to be added back.

Someone asks for a vehicle, weapon, or map added back to the game?
"There’s plenty of REQs already, and if you want a map just forge it"
I’m sorry, but again, what are your problems with more content being added/added back? it’s senseless to shoot down these suggestions with literally no reason behind it.

Someone asks for opinions and suggestions for how Armor Abilities could make a return in Halo 6? (This was me actually, the thread got a decent bit of traction but almost every damn commenter shot the idea down all for the same exact reason i’m about to quote, despite telling every last one of them over and over what i’ll say following the quote)
"No. I don’t want Halo 4 again. Everyone should have equal starts in competitive. The Halo 5 gameplay is perfect"

Respectfully, give me a break. This one ticked me off more I suppose because of the pure amount of people I had to tell the same crap to just for them to understand. NOT EVERY FEATURE WILL EFFECT EVERY GAMEMODE!! You can keep your competitive just how it is, and everyone else can get what they want at the same time! It DOES NOT have to be one or the other!

You get the jist at this point. I’ve been on Waypoint for years, mainly as a reader, and constantly since Halo 5 i’ve seen this happening. Seriously what happened to Waypoint? Since when did every little suggestions suddenly become a negative thing? Competitive players who comment on the brunt of the threads, just present themselves as absolutely off their rockers… preaching about how things shouldn’t be added because they’ll mess with the arena and competitive. GUESS WHAT BUDDIES, Arena and competitive aren’t the only features in the damn franchise!!
Once upon a time, Halo had a great many cohesive features that all worked in unison. The competitive crowd got their fill in the playlists they desired, and everyone else got the fun they wanted out of the amazing custom games, and the defining modes like Big Team Battle.

Please, for the love of god, stop shooting every little thing down. It doesn’t have to be one or the other. Nothing added would conflict with your precious “core gameplay mechanics”. Your playlists will stay the same, adding these features will not harm you. Start showing a little decency towards the people who actually want Halo to do great again, the people who want the absolute maximum number of players to enjoy the game, both casual and pro.
How about we all start respecting each other’s wishes for the franchise? instead of tearing each other’s opinions apart and most likely dividing the opinions of any potential devs that may be reading.

Thank you. And please read threads first, then put some genuine thought into your replies.

I definitely agree with a lot of the points you’ve made. I think you just need to find the good amongst all of the complainers and malcontents here. Sure, there are a lot of people that are vocal and quite frankly obnoxious (and wrong), but there are a lot of good people too.

Good vent thread though.

Yeah there are plenty of good posters, such as the aforementioned OP’s of these suggestion threads. It sucks that they just get drowned out by all these obnoxious users.

There’s no reason why the games can still be competitive as well as FUN for the non try hard types. Not everyone enjoys just clenching their butt holes, running for power weapons and head glitching people. It’s a game. It’s supposed to be enjoyed. By ALL it’s players. And Halo 5’s map design, which is literally designed with countless slopes for the simple purpose of head glitching is pretty boring in comparison to old, fun and unique halo maps like Valhalla and Last Resort.

Myself and quite a few people I know, along with a whole bunch of people I see in places outside of way point forums seem to share a similar opinion. When I think about the amazing experiences i had on Reach, where all of my buddies would get together and be able to genuinely ENJOY the game WITHOUT having to sweat like pigs because of map design is a fond memory. Then I realize that me and most of my friends stopped consistently playing Halo altogether around the end of Halo 4 and noticeably upon the release of Halo 5. Because it simply wasn’t FUN anymore.

I’d hope to see some of that old Halo magic make it into Halo 6/Whatever spin off series they do. Like I said before, it’s not ALL supposed to be a competitive game. Not EVERYONE is a competitive gamer. There can be separate game modes for Christ sake that’s the whole point of having different game modes XD

You’re not wrong. It’s something that a lot of people on this site don’t seem to realise.

All you said I completely agree with.

Aaannddd… mic drop.

In all seriousness, I agree with your points. Sometimes the way people act just bothers me. See below.

“Oh, this bothers me so I’m going to rant and rant and vehemently deny every logical argument people provide!”
Whenever I see something like that, it irritates me so much because I can’t help but think:
“If it bothers you so much, why not just go start a blog and -Yoink- about it there? No one’s going to stop you. Besides, why do you have to ruin someone else’s enjoyment because it annoys you, and you only?”
Now, I’m not saying constructive criticism is bad, but if you are going to incoherently rant, bash, and crush peoples’ dreams, just go. You aren’t helping anyone.

None of this is directed at you, OP. Just wanted to make that clear.

You’ve put some effort into this I see, but unfortunately this is just a thread complaining about people’s attitudes. If that’s something you want to vent about, start a blog or something, but we don’t allow it here because it doesn’t open doors to any sort of constructive discussion. If you don’t like how some people behave, ignore them, completely. Don’t comment on their posts, don’t complain about how annoying they are just be as if you didn’t even notice them. That’s the best you can do to help yourself and the community when it comes to obnoxious people. Making a thread about it doesn’t change anything, and only adds more noise to what should be discussion about Halo.
