Waypoint Service Record Xbox/Windows Difference?

I’ve noticed a while ago on my service record for MCC there’s an option for windows and xbox. More so out of curiosity I mostly play on xbox and I know there is cross platform progression, but is there actually any difference between the two? I’ve checked and it shows the exact same thing for me.

Again more so just curious

Maybe there was a plan to keep separate records but since you use the same Xbox Live account its not straightforward. They need to split stats but they haven’t done so yet.

Could it be for players that have Steam accounts that are not linked with Xbox Live? I’m guessing since I don’t play on PC.
