I posted a self post to r/halo yesterday (link) and after it gained some attention I decided to post some feedback here.
I have several problems with the current Waypoint but my biggest complaint is the stat. EVERYONE who frequented Bungie.net and checked their Halo 2,3 and Reach stats there will most likely agree with me that Waypoint has some serious problems. I still don’t even know how to check my friends’ stats! (Unless I change the gt in the url). So much information that we could see on bungie.net is now gone, including heat maps, file sharing and medal pages.
It seems that 343 decided to trade functionality to “futuristic” user interface. Which by the way is one of the worst I have ever used; what is wrong with simple UI that provides more information at a glance?
Also, stat page takes ages to load since it has to retrieve your service record every time you start a new browsing session. And once I get there, it’s just a bunch of random data that may satisfy casuals but no seasoned Halo fans.
It just does not work very good. Half the time when I try to go someplace it just hangs or gets an error. I’m not sure what their grand plan is but they should at least have a working site. Even if it is not the slickest site on the net it should work. The game is awesome just wish the site was half as good.

This is so true. I hope 343 removes all of the javascript crap and replace it with a simple user friendly interface with actual good content.
Come on, it’s a stats page, it does not need to be interactive.
they rely way to heavily on ‘silverlight’ and java instead of providing a simple static system that worked great with Bnet. Simple is better. less buggy as well, and makes it easier to update overtime.
> 343i are always looking for ways to improve their site but everything in the past weeks have improved and overtime things will be better.
How is this an improvement? The thread list looks downright ugly. It’s literally an excel document with the gridlines taken out. It’s awful and trying way too hard. And how is someone supposed to know to click menu to quote somebody? That’s a stupid system and needlessly tedious when you could just list the buttons right there.
They heard people liked simplistic (like BNet) so they tried way too hard to oversimplify things and, in the process, overcomplicated them and made it even worse.
Whoever is managing this site needs to go get some lessons from Achronos, Sawnose, RunningTurtle, and the rest of the BNet Web Team, because they’re doing it horribly wrong over here.
> totally right. on a side and irrelevant note, i miss bungie… like a lot
For what it’s worth, they’re working on a new game supposedly called Destiny to be released in Fall 2013. New information about that pops up in the Community Forum from time to time so checking in for that isn’t such a bad idea.
I must admit I’ve been frustrated quite a few times by not being able to see my friends game stats. I always gave up and went to halotracker or one of the 3rd party stat sites instead.
It’s a great looking website, but there is some serious functionality missing here.
As for the stat system using ‘silverlight and java’, it doesn’t. It’s HTML5. I agree though, its got a lot of bells and whistles on it but its nowhere near as easy to use the Bungie stat system. Form over function unfortunately.
