When I select Waypoint from within Halo 4’s menu the screen goes black, and then nothing happens. I can’t even bring up the Xbox guide menu, I have to restart the xbox and launch Waypoint from the dash. Not a huge problem but I thought you should know. Anyone else have this problem?
Yup… I have the same issue as well. I’ve given up launching it from the in-game menu.
Same here. You’d think people would play test these things.
Same issue.
Same here. I tried to remove and reinstall halo waypoint but that does not work.

If you don’t mind me asking a few questions, could the folks with this problem maybe provide a few details for the curious (and likely to try to check this…)
- What generation of Xbox 360 do you have? Slim? Original? Special Release? etc. If you can provide the general info on what kit you have, that would be great!
2)How long have you waited before cycling power? 30 seconds? 1 minute? 3 minutes? I only ask because I have seen it take 30+ seconds, but not more than a minute, during which time the screen was black, but it did progress.
- Are you running strictly from disk? Installed Disk 2 for multiplayer but playing from disk 1? Install from Disk 1 and Disk2 and playing from drive? Other?
4)What were you doing in Halo4 prior to launching to Waypoint? Did you just finish Wargames? Did you idle for 15 minutes? Anything you can remember before trying to launch Waypoint… So, if you came from Wargames straight to Waypoint and it hung, can you try just launching H4, then launch Waypoint without any other interactions?
Again, if folks can give me some idea of their set up, that would be a huge help. Feel free to answer in thread or add me as a buddy and send a message.
I’m having this, too. I’ve tried deleting Waypoint and re-installing it, but it still does it. I’ve now given up even attempting to launch Waypoint from within Halo 4 as I don’t want to risk it screwing up my 360 from the freezing.

Xbox 360S, bought in July 2010. The HDD is only a few months old, though, as the last one died on me after ME3 kept freezing.
-
Not sure. Certainly more than 30 seconds. There is definitely no progression, and the console has definitely frozen - I cannot even bring up the Guide when it does it.
-
Disc 1 installed from the dashboard, Disc 2 installed via its own menu.
-
Just finished a Campaign mission and wanted to view a Terminal. I’ve also tried it straight from loading Halo 4 without doing anything else.
Thank you for the info… Will use that to try to reproduce it in my secret lair!
I had this issue as well. I deleted the App and re-installed now everything is working fine. Only access from within Halo 4 was the problem, that’s why I didn’t delete before.
FYI, both Disk 1 and Disk 2 are installed to my harddrive on a 2010 model (OEM hardware).
Thank you 343 for posting the solution in your bulletin.

Xbox 360 slim. HD tv and hdmi cable.
-
I waited 10 minutes. The screen was black the whole time. For the first 30 seconds the disc drive was spinning then it stopped. No sound and I cannot bring up the xbox guide.
-
Installed Disk 1 and 2 to xbox hard drive.
-
I have tried coming out of campaign and war games. I also tried just launching Halo 4 and then trying waypoint. All times it froze.
Reach 360 Slim
Xbox Locks up after trying. I installed both discs to the xbox hard drive.
I can’t express how much I appreciate this info and how it really helped. Thanks a ton everyone!

This happened to me. You have to go to your system memory and delete waypoint. Then redownload it through Halo 4. This will let you access it now.
I’m not so sure it has anything to do with what kind of console we’ve. If I’ve played any kind of game mode in Halo 4 and after a few minutes wanna go 2 waypoint threw the main menu, it will not load. I can her my disc spin for a couple of seconds, then the screen turns blank… Not getting the dashboard up either… annoying, so last night after trying 2 access waypoint again, with zero result :(I switched game, put the disc of REACH in… & from that game there is no problem at all to launch waypoint, with less than a minute I’m brought 2 waypoint. I’ve re-installed, waypoint, all my stuff r installed on my HD and I’ve a slim 360. I also have asked my friends if they have the same issue, and they have!!
Anyone find I fix yet?
The problem seems to be found by those who have Disk 1 installed to their hard drive, and at the moment, we don’t have a solution other than exiting Halo 4 and launching Waypoint from the dashboard.
Uninstalling Disk 1, so that the game runs off of the disk, instead of hard drive, may fix the problem, and we have seen reports of some folks having luck uninstalling Waypoint, attempting to launch it from Halo4, and re-installing Waypoint through that specific vector, although I will admit I have not been able to get that to work.
The issue is being investigated though!

Thanks for the feedback.
