Waypoint, 343i, and silence.

Question:
Has 343i ever responded to any of the grievances people have aired on these forums?
If so, where can I find their response?

Specifically, I’d like to know a timetable on the fileshare issues, and I’d like to know if they ever plan on putting in a community map rotation. I don’t enjoy 3/4 of the maps that shipped with the game, and the Crimson Map Pack was a huge bust.

If anyone knows anything about the fileshare or the possibility of a community map playlist, please respond.

I just don’t understand how 343i and the waypoint staff haven’t even responded to any of this stuff. What are these people doing all day? It seems ridiculous that in this day and age of social media managers, community managers, and so forth, that a company can or should maintain this sort of silence when it’s community is begging for help or, at least, some sort of insight.

It’s depressing.

Even worse, the next map pack isn’t scheduled until Feb 25th. We are already sick of the limited number of maps after one month. The terrible Crimson maps will not hold peoples interest for another three months until map pack 2 comes out.

Alot of things are coming in the new year. They did state that some things still needed work done to them. When it comes to game types so far there really is no news other than what one will be on the following week.

They have responded to the removal of glitches, 2v2 Slayer, and small map additions, a ranked playlist, and a title update.

They will answer other questions in the future.

Because they totally didn’t just release a TU to solve a bunch of glitches. And they totally didn’t announce a larger TU to be released soon at the same time. And that TOTALLY doesn’t count as an answer to people’s complaints…

The fact that some people think they’re actually going to respond to every single grievance people have about the game is depressing.

Okay, aside from the sarcasm, that was almost a helpful reply.

I asked where I could find a response, and you mentioned a large TU (I’m assuming that means “Title Update”) coming down the pipeline. Where can I find this announcement?

Don’t forget Custom Games and how limited they are compared to Halo 3 and Halo Reach.

Can I ask you why you always bring this up. You should know by now that the ranking system they said they are implementing is not what the people want. By the people I mean the people who want the 1-50 ranking system. The people that want the 1-50 ranking system want it IN GAME.

They have removed like one glitch which was just them fixing the broken map they released.

What map additions are you talking about?

They prefer to lock all the specialization threads(instead of deleting them, freeing up the board), ignore all the constructive criticism and then remain totally silent, -Yoink!- off the community until they roll out unspecified fixes.

The last bulletin

“If you find yourself wondering why this change list is shorter than previous ones, it’s because we’ve been hard at work on a Title Update, which is slated to release soon. You’ll know it’s out when you’re prompted to download an update upon logging into Halo 4. We will detail the contents of the TU after it’s out (as it contains exploit fixes we don’t want abused any more than they already are while they’re live). We can tell you right now that this particular TU tackles actual game and gameplay issues, not sandbox tweaks and balances. We have another TU in the works and will continue working on the timing and content of the next one. We will update everyone when we have additional information. One TU at a time, as they say.”

They always have those new announcements on Waypoint’s front page every week. This tells us about a lot of things like new gametypes but sometimes they don’t talk about other things. It could be because they don’t want people to think something is coming out on this day when it didn’t. It happened almost to the Crimson Map Pack. People had to buy it again to play it. Thankfully Bs Angel told everyone here on the forums that it would be fixed. They fixed it and problem solved.

Thanks

I think the problem people have been having ( it’s what I just realized has been bothering me since rejoining the halo community) is the lack of a ‘weekly update’. I know Waypoint has their updates that come out regularly(probably weekly, Idk, lol), but the way Bungie did it showed us how much they really cared about us and the game.
It all just feels so cold now, bug bad corporate Microsoft calling the shot, telling the peons how it’s gonna be, and deal with it.
Whether that’s the reality or not, I haven’t a clue, but I certainly don’t feel as involved as I used to.
I want Frank to write the weekly updates, respond to our questions, assure us of the future. I want to know the game I love is going to survive the constant blasts from the forums, from MLG gamer’s, from pretty much everyone who’s not in the media(which in itself is a little strange, or is it).
We need strong leaders in this time of need…Anyone willing to step up?

I’d wait for the bulletin, they might provide some details.

We don’t know all of the details yet. But from what we know, it may be a 1-50 ranking system. One of the few only differences is to have the score on waypoint in order to reduce incentive to boost, cheat, de-level, etc. Not having the system be exactly to your liking, does not mean that they are not listening.
I know you’ll disagree with their reasoning, but, they listened but want to prevent some other problems associated with the concept.

It was tweeted that they are working on incorporating smaller 4v4 forge maps. They are being tested now.

The Bulletins are weekly unless for some reason they take a break, ie holidays, etc. Frankly I am wondering where people are getting the notion of Bungie being this very responsive company with their updates…they weren’t.

The site moderators don’t have answers for you, they aren’t paid employees of 343i. The fact that people give them so much grief for simply doing their job (voluntarily, and without pay) disgusts me.

Got to wait for the File Browser and File Share to be live again along with Theater mode for the campaign and Spartan OPs.

While I understand having to take things slowly with TU’s, its ridiculous to have to wait for such content that should have been there from the start.

Wow. Those two new things were actually the some of the only problems I had with the Multiplayer, and they are going to be fixed.
