A thing that we’ve been lacking in forge is water, when people try to remake beaver creek, they can’t add details like the creek. Have it so we can customize length, width, and depth. just a neat detail to complete this already great forge.
I agree that we need something like this. Maybe we could get a map that is all water considering we can make giant maps with the new items. I know I have a few maps I would like to build that require water.
Sounds like a great idea
bump bump bump.
I would love that as a feature.
Well you can get water by building your map in shallow water on alpine but I definitely agree. Water volumes would be a nice add on with the ability to change the size, colour, direction of flow, intensity of waves and maybe different particle effects like murky, sea and clear blue. No idea if it would work with the current engine though might require more time to implement than it’s worth.

Please don not bump posts, thanks.
Water has always been a struggle for map making games. Even the Far Cry series (Still the best map maker ever) only allows you to make water on a certain level. Anything below that is fully under water, anything above is on land. Water is set at a certain level and I have not seen any game with a map maker, allow you to “add water”. You have to pick a map with water, and build your map accordingly. Unfortunately.
However Far cry allowed you to place bases under water that actually “removed” the water. I don’t think Halo allows you to do that at all. Or any other game with a map maker. Far Cry truly was the bench mark for map makers.
I’ve seen some examples of it kinda faked using chroma screens, lighting, and sound. It’s not super elegant, but it works all right.
If we just had 24x24x24 water volumes I would be fine, also since the Spartans die if there is too much water you probably wouldn’t need too much of it.
I played on a Beaver Creek remake that had the water in the middle…not sure how it was done but it was definitely there.

It was most likely made on Alpine and had a dip down into the water.

Yup as I said above. If you pick a map that already has water, you can create remake maps with water. Like Beaver Creek.
This would be awesome!

But why restrict it to those select maps? If they added water we could truly have creativity and make almost anything
honestly, i want more fully enclosed maps like in CE…forget all this environmental crap. I do see what you guys are saying, and if it is that much of a want, maybe they should implement it, but I’m solely focused on gameplay, and the fully enclosed maps in CE really made for some great gameplay.

Because again, as I said above, there are not any other map makers anywhere that allow you to “add water”. The far cry map editors are still about 10 years ahead of the Halo map editors. So until we see water added in Far Cry. Its not likely to see it added in Halo for a very long time.
Do you remember how long it took Halo to allow us to put in trees? lol The Halo map editor is very far behind. You can not even manipulate existing land in Halo yet. Seriously, once you use the Far Cry map editor, its fairly painful to use the Halo editor.

This is what I was thinking, If I want to make a desert map on Parallax with a tiny oasis I should be able to place a few tiny water volume and make a cool oasis looking thing.
343 should add the ability to make water falls as well, why not?

I agree. I also kind of have a volcanic map idea.
