When in Halo will we see vehicles that can navigate on water? Surely something has to be made…
Please make one and call it the Water Buffalo.
Can’t wait for the day that vehicles expand towards water. I’d love to have a jet ski that can do power flips off the water. Though I feel that Ocean gameplay would be more useful for objective gametypes. I think part of the reason it hasn’t been done, is because the high risk in that you’re surrounded by nothing but death.
People like how the water acts as a killzone, but also don’t want swimming Spartans that can fire and melee as well. Spartans are supposed to vulnerable to deep water right?
There was at one point, Bungie prototyped it but later scrapped it along with some other neat things. Here is the water boat, but skip back about a minute to watch all of it

Spartans can breathe underwater for as long as their armour keeps recycling their oxygen, but that’ll only go for so long. The real problem is their density. Spartans weigh half a tonne, and most of that weight is condensed into their comparatively thin suit, making it incredibly dense. Density is what causes sinking, so Spartans drop like a drop pod in water, no matter how good they are at swimming. If they fall off a jetski (and it would have to be a REALLY beefy jetski to support them), the only thing they can do is walk to the beach and hope they don’t get sand in their armour.
…
Actually, that could work. Imagine a map like Zanzibar, only symmetrical with a sea separating the bases. There would be a variety of vehicles to cross the gap with, but… (obvious innovation ahead…) YOU DON’T HAVE TO USE A VEHICLE! You can just walk! As soon as you enter water, your HUD shows a small timer until suffocation, whereupon your health will drop slowly and your screen start to darken until you die. If you exit water by walking/jumping up a slope/ledge, then the counter begins to decrease rapidly but not instantly, preventing people from just jumping to resupply oxygen. That would mean you could have water combat without it being a death trap if you accidentally bail! (I don’t know about shooting underwater, but meleeing should be fine.)
But the vehicles themselves… Hmm.
-
Swordfish: Super-beefy looking jet ski with boost function and small machineguns mounted on the front. A Gungoose on the water, basically.
-
Alligator: Low-lying gunboat with one caged gunner seat and a pilot, with an open area for passengers where they could use their own weapons.
I can see this working really well with Invasion, a small cutscene playing as the attackers enter in their transports and the defenders rush to defensive positions.

Why not just make a vehicle that is amphibious so that we can use it on maps that have no water.
If they would add Water Vehicles they would have to add swimming.

how about using the thruster to stay afloat in the water?
Hammerhead:A fast ,light boat with a machine gun on top, has an strong iron hull for ramming into other boats.

So using Thrusters sort of like a fish leaping out of the water? With a time limit on how long you have for breathing and this ability, it could allow for underwater play. It’s an interesting idea.

So the Chopper on water? If so I would like it.
I think it would be really cool for a BTB map that spanned water areas and had islands and things

Underwater combat. Interesting. That’d be pretty fun, actually.
woah a lot of that is awesome! loved the hunter assassination too! thanks for finding this!
i was hoping for human vehicle that has the layout and controls similar to a prowler that goes on water. like a water-hog haha

Fun map, makes me sad this game is dead.
Anyways the way it worked, was if you got knocked off the boat you died because you would drown in the water.
Also contains what jetpacks should’ve been.

Warthog, meet Sea Cow.
I desperately want a vehicle named the Narwhal.
Narwhals, Narwhals, spawning into War Games
Taking lives that they claim
cuz they are so OP
Narwhals, Narwhals, spawning into War Games
Super speed and machine guns
They rack up all the kills in tons.
They’re like a floating Scorpion
I’ve got no word to rhyme again
They’re like the Warthogs, on the sea,
They drop down from Infinity
Narwhals, we call them Narwhals, Narwhals
(Plz just it make it overhaul)
Narwhals, please add in Narwhals, Narwhals
Lala lala Master Chief!
Seriously click the spoiler. I’m proud of it.
Anyway, like some have said, there must be swimming combat for these to work. I’d think both additions would be cool, especially if they include global battles like in that Reach cut video.

Everybody’s got a Water Buffalo.
Yours is fast but mine is slow.
Where you get them I don’t know,
but everybody’s got a water buffalo.
If there’s a vehicle called an Octopus, do I have permission to yell OCTOOOPUSSSSSSSSSSS!!! upon seeing it?
water=dead Spartan. If someone snuck up behind the Chief and scared him when he had to pee could they be charged with murder?
> If they would add Water Vehicles they would have to add swimming.
Preferably thrusters meant for traversing bodies of water.
