Wasps are Crap

Does anyone else agree that wasps in Halo 5 are just way to underpowered. I feel like whenever I get into one I am vulnerable to anything that moves. And they basically shoot frickin peas. The damage output seems way too low. I just think that they need a bit of a buff. Not sure if anyone else has this issue.

Go back to July.

In all seriousness though the Wasp can be very OP in the right hands. You just need to know how to use it well and effectively.

They’re fine in early games

I LOOOOVE the wasp. That thing is so beastly. It can’t take a ton of damage but if you can use cover well you are golden until someone pulls out an Arclight or Blood of Suban.

Level 3 Req what do you expect. In the right hands it can last a long time especially when using it against players who dont know how to counter them.
Of course in warzone if you use them past the first 5 minutes then you’re asking for trouble.

Maybe a little underpowered but most definitely nurfed. I know they aren’t the greatest of the arial options but I feel like it takes far more to take down a Banshee which is essentially its covie equal.

It’s basically a human phaeton that is a lot less OP then the phaeton. Still very useful if used correctly and of its used VERY early in the game.

I enjoy using them though they are underpowered

They need a slight buff on the machine gun and they should increased the blast radius of the missiles like they did with the Hydra. Other than that though Wasps can be pretty good in early games, I’ve gotten Killing Sprees and two Killing Frenzies in both Warzone and in Big Team Battle. I think the only gamemode they’re useless in is in Firefight.

I find them very handy in various scenarios.

I tend to keep high, near cover, watch where my team mates are so I can position myself opposite and put some fire down from ‘behind’ the bad guys. That way the team have air support, which helps as either way the enemy’s fire is drawn they get hit from all angles.

I agree they aren’t so tough though, but if you keep it safe it certainly does its bit for the fight.

I only use them in firefight. I think the complete opposite to you haha totally useless in regular warzone.

Wasps are very good if you can get to level 3 reqs quickly and get one out immediately. At that point there’s only going to be BRs about unless someone gets lucky with a random weapon spawn so Wasps are extremely effective early on if used correctly.

If you’re under the impression a Wasp is going to net you Ultra Banshee levels of kill streaks and multikills then you need to realise that’s not what they’re intended for. They’re not intended to be effective late in the game when everyone can just pull out a rail gun or laser and take you out immediately.

Wait for the Oni and Hannibal variants if that’s your thing.

Agreed, I like them in Firefight. Someone hopped out of a flaming one on Apex 7 today after the second round, so I hopped in to hold it and he called in something else so I kept it. Kept it alive through the finale and a victory and I still had the highest score, although it was less than a 1,000 from the next (and there were plenty of tanks and wraiths). Granted, it helped that the finale was the Phantom and Tank.

I find it to be really clutch on ‘Defend’ ones that are in the open. If you position it right, you can really help with assists.

If you pull it out early in a game it dominates

Not even bro, the Wasp is great, you just have to learn to use guerilla warfare (hit and run) to keep the damage sustained to just the Wasp’s shields.

It can be tedious, but also, picking a time when we enemies are already occupied will afford you a chance to snatch up easy kills without much risk of return fire.

Edit: Although, the Wasp does suffer at higher REQ levels, this is more a problem with the overall power-creep design of Warzone.

Edit-edit: Stupid phone keyboard.

Just seeing 1 or 2 of these in the enemy team early game is tedious if you’re with a team of randoms, so no. It’s borderline game breakingly good.

No the wasp is good

All depends on how you use it.

No need to worry, variants should be on the way!

I hope I’m allowed to say that, I heard that 343 officially confirmed them now, I may be wrong but almost everyone knows now.

It’s a level three req, it has higher damage output then a ghost, more mobility in terms of strafing, and as long as you don’t get focused more armor thanks to the shields.
So really, it’s a good pick up for a level three req, since the only powerful reqs at that level are the ONI and maybe the needler hog(and the campy shotgun).
