"Wasp is just a reskin of Phaeton"

Do people even know what a reskin is??

If people say the Wasp is just a reskin of the Phaeton just because it is a VTOL, then I could say the Sniper rifle is just a reskin of a DMR. Because it ONLY

-Has longer range
-More damage

That totally sounds like a reskin too so we might as well call everything in the sandbox a reskin… 343 soooo lazy these days…

My point is: You can make anything sound like a reskin of something else if you generalized it and tried hard enough. The wasp is not a reskin of the phaeton.

Although I do agree with you, and with the logic some people are throwing around about the Wasp, technically the Phaeton is just a re-skin of a Hornet and it would seem that has come full Halo…I mean circle

Like I said I do agree with you but making these types of threads on both sides is pointless, please lets not let these forums devolve into the SEGA Sonic the Hedgehog forums XD

Forgot smaller magazine size.

Seriously though, I don’t understand why people are saying it’s a reskin of a Phaeton. From the article, it sounds like a mix of a Banshee and a Phaeton. Having minimal shields but meant flying in, dealing some damage, flying away. Does that sound like a Phaeton? Nope, sounds more like a Banshee to me. It just has the ability to hover.

Phaetons are heavy weapon aerial vehicles, they stay back and rain fire down. I have never, NEVER seen a Phaeton in any Warzone game last long trying to fly into or above the fray. They stay back, ducking behind cover, peeking out only to bring forth the pain.

Perhaps reskin is too harsh of a word. It’s a UNSC-looking Phaeton, if it’s actually anything like the article describes. Which the “UNSC Air Vehicle PLS” group didn’t want.

The reason for even wanting to add something like the Hornet or Falcon isn’t just ‘we need a human air thing’, but also the gameplay implications of those two. The Hornet could carry two passengers while the pilot also had guns, making it good both by itself and with the two extra passengers. But the Hornet in its first iteration was actually -too- good, so the version on Avalanche was nerfed to lose the rockets and only have a minigun. The Falcon had no pilot guns but two turrets. In the campaign, around 4 people could be seated on the inside of the Falcon as well, and the pilot did have weapons. Imagine this in Warzone, if the different versions of the Falcon were rolled into one. A gunship with turrets and passengers, a truly effective multi-crew vehicle that’s able to defend itself, and has more than one use than just “kill everyone”. You could carry players to a base, or to several bases, or to a boss, or to the enemy’s core. Imagine parking just above a base, and all four passenger Spartans jump out and DIVE BOMB ONTO THE BASE, RAINING HELLFIRE DOWN FROM THE HEAVENS, while you’re shooting the base yourself.

The Hornet was good for objective, letting you carry the flag carrier or bomb carrier across the map while also having guns to defend yourself. The Falcon was a “flying Warthog” with two gunners and speed. This is what made them different from a Banshee, and from a Phaeton. The problem is, if its really just a fast machine/missile single-seater, then it fills the exact same role as the Phaeton, effectively making it the same vehicle but with human gun sounds and architecture.

I agree with you. I too wanted a team based passenger aerial vehicle, but the Wasp is still a pretty cool looking vehicle. I’m excited for it, I can’t wait to try it out!

@Bloodclaw95
The specter and prowler filled the same role as the warthog and everyone loved those vehicles.

Loved, but they weren’t heavily requested before they were added. Keep in mind we’ve been asking for a Falcon/Hornet since Halo 4. 2012. Halo 5 isn’t the first time.

The wasp is way more similar to the Hawk or Hornet then it is to the Phaeton

I don’t think it is

The whole reason we wanted a UNSC air vehicle was because it supported teamwork, which was lacking in all of 343’s multiplayer games. Bungie focused on the ‘let’s work together as a team’ idea, which 343 needs to use in all parts of its gameplay. Think about it, the revenant and Falcon should have been single man vehicles had 343 touched them, however bungie put passenger seats in them. Just saying, but teamwork and vehicular gameplay defined halo. Some may say other things but unless Halo 6 wants to thrive it has to focus on EVERYTHING working together. Not just different odds and ends thrown in different random places in the game (campaign;)

So, is that article about that new boss and vehicle legit?

Yes it is! Many of us are excited for a new vehicle. Many of us are less thrilled because it looks like the vehicle is a one seater.

Well, to be fair, the Revenant was planned for Halo 4 and it was a two-seater
