Wasp is a Phaeton clone?

So I was really excited yesterday when I heard that a new UNSC air vehicle was being added to Halo 5. I decided to see what many others thought mainly by reading YouTube comments, but it seems that most people keep saying “It’s a Phaeton clone, RIP Halo.” However, the polygon article made it clear that it isn’t the Phaeton. It said that bullets are much more effective up close, and the Wasp is very fast. Also the gameplay seen from IGN shows that the missiles are much slower and seem to be for vehicles only. So why is everyone saying its a Phaeton clone? I’m guessing this is just because people love to bash 343, or did I miss something. What do you guys think?

Because they don’t know what a Hornet is.

It was people jumping to conclusions based on it’s look. Their not Halo fans. I don’t see how you can make a decision on something before you’ve tried it

Agreed, and it’s not like you are going to have it made by prometheans (forerunners).

It’s the UNSC’s answer to the Banshee and the Phaeton.

Kinda like Assault Rifle / Storm Rifle / Suppressor

Who cares? really. does it matter.

I made a comment on another thread, I think 343i logic behind the wasp is solid. 343i building levels in the sky low, mid and high air vehicles. The wasp is low air support, quick movement, with weapons close. The banshee is a jack of all trades in the air, fire low enemies, can evade and move fast. The phaeton is a high air support vehicle which can do damage from far away and high up in the air.

Just because the wasp has its thrusters in a similar place doesn’t mean anything…the wasp falls in line physically with the hornet and sparrow hawk.

It might be because people just hear bullets and missiles and automatically say that the Wasp is a clone of a Phaeton because it is just that.I just don’t understand some people because the Banshee fires bullets and missiles and they didn’t say the Phaeton was a clone of the Banshee.

P.S.The Wasp was meant to be in Halo 4.That may explain why it’s said to be Phaeton clone. That may mean that the Wasp was the Phaeton in Halo 4’s development and that explains why it has extra features,so it could be different.

True.

If you really want to be specific, technically the Pheaton is a clone of the Hornet :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, I heard it was cut in Halo 4. It’s cool to see it make it into Halo 5.

It doesn’t really. I just think it’s annoying how many people can’t be satisfied.

Good point.

I think the Wasp is great. Looking forward to rolling up a Warthog in the wings and sneaking behind enemy bases. (I know that’s unlikely to be successful but there is no harm in trying)

It’s not a clone… it has similar boosters that is all… which makes sense if they are incorporating covie and forerunner tech into their weapons and vehicles.

Literally… before the phaeton…the wasp, there was the hornet? A slow(ish??) VTOL, with machine guns…and rockets… exactly like the phaeton, and exactly like the wasp. If anything the phaeton was a clone of the hornet, and the wasp is EVEN closer to the hornet, but somehow I think people actually forgot what the hornet was in their blind rage at 343

Exactly! As someone who loves the Hornet, I’m fine with the Wasp being a Hornet clone. I read that the Wasp is a Hornet and Hawk successor so it makes sense.

The phaeton is a clone of the Hornet sooooo I mean…

Not to say I don’t like the Pheaton, because I love it and the hornet, any VTOL that is added will always seemingly be the same, the only vehicle that would have played differently would have been the Falcon or any type of helicopter would sort of play differently, but I do understand the Falcon without some type of flare system would be a flying triple kill lol I love Halo 5, its the most fun I’ve had in matchmaking since Halo 3’s launch, I’m excited for this update XD
