I love the wasp. This is by no means a anti-wasp thread. I’m just expressing concern after an excruciating match of WZ. So basically, by the time we were able to capture our first armory, the enemy team, mostly, had three reqs a piece by then. Next thing I know, eight wasp are flying my direction. We had barely started to fight for the garage when the wasp had taken us all out and pushed us back to the core. They then reigned down endless rockets at the core preventing our escape regardless of how hard we tried. With only three reqs, none of us were able to do anything about it. With so many wasp in the air, our load-outs were useless. With no one on my team having the wasp certification ourselves, we could fight wasp v wasp. Endless rockets barraged our exits, and Spartans rushing us from everywhere. This has happened more than once. I just think that getting the wasp so early in the game is a bad idea. I say, make them 4 req’s instead; or increases their health and make them 5 req’s. IDK, but this technique works too well. WZ is already boring enough, like all of Halo 5 is in general; and now try hard teams can destroy us even faster with the wasp.
Warthogs like the oni, or the rocket hog seem to counter this really well. Also, any configuration of 8 people working together, vehicles or not, probably would have crushed a non-coordinated team. The wasp is very well balanced I think.
They were coordinated. They had eight wasp. I was taking the garage, and died. When I tried to spawn… our armory was captured. Tried to leave the garage… wasp everywhere. Four on one door and four on the other. literally couldn’t do anything. This happened twice already out of 5 games I played. Got too mad to play… again. The wasp may be balanced to randomly play, but not for a coordinated attack like that.
I guess it’s time to polish up on my driving skills… Pedal to the metal, out of the base and head for a tunnel with guns blazing…

Well, yes, but so is every vehicle. I imagine it would suck to play even 8 gungooses, coordinated together.
Isnt this his better then say, 8 tanks spawn trapping you? Or 8 phaetons? I get that they’re cheap reqs, but any coordinated vehicle attack butchers people if you don’t counter it. If I remember, they’re one shotted by railguns as well.
With only one varient (base model), these will be rare in packs anyways. They can’t just be popped out every time reqs are available like hogs can.
I swear to god the wasp is crap used the one I had on FF lasted not even a minute before going on fire, lucky I survived barely R5 kill 3 wardens in homebase so I go on killed one warden went for the other one on the side got killed by the mythic warden. To me the wasp seriously needs to be more durable
You’ve gotta remember, it’s not the vehicle - it’s the strategy used by players. It’s pretty much exactly the same as a 8 ghost rush.
I think that’s how they were intended to be used. They’re pretty weak alone, but a swarm of Wasps (get it?) is very dangerous

+1 for the pun
As others have said, you can be trapped by a team of low REQ vehicles. You think having 8 warthogs parked outside both base doors isn’t troublesome? Plus you gotta realize the Wasp is part of the new release, and everyone is excited to use it.

Don’t worry man it this is only going to last for a week or two everyone got one so everyone is using them together for right now
If they had 8 ONI warthogs, would that have been fair? You’re mistaking amount of the wasps with power of the wasps. One warthog won’t do to damage, but a ton of warthogs will do a ton. This same premise applies to the wasp and all other vehicles as well.
I think it’s fine.
No different to having exits blocked by 8 ghosts, also level 3 req (sword ghost).
I think you’ve just been unlucky. Hopefully it dies down a bit. Don’t forget most high level players got 4 wasps this week.
Its not that hard to counter. Its cannons are weaker than a warthog’s chaingun. Shield aside, its armor is basically glass. A good warthog duo can chase and pelt the things with relative ease.

I’m sorry, but you lost all credibility when you said that laughable comment! If Halo 5 is sooo boring, why are you even playing it? Why are you here on the forum? Why not go and do something else that you don’t find boring?
You went up against a well coordinated team and got your -Yoink- kicked. It happens. It’s not the Wasp’s fault, it could just have easily been 8 ghosts. That’s happened to me before, but tbh it was fun to see it. Just take the loss and move on. Or use your headset, get a good fireteam and use some tactics yourself.

Incredibly easy to shoot gunner off hog compared to taking down wasp.
Dude any coordinated attack will win. I was in a game with my old spartan company and we were about to lose. We had 200 points and the enemy had 890. They also had all 3 bases. We started coordinating and we took all 3 bases and cored the. Coordination always wins with or without firepower.
Do you not realize that thing is week? I tested that thing in Forge, 1 on 1 Wasps, 2 rockets shots and it’s basically dead. It’s easy to kill.

yeah except ghosts cant fly. they can also be jacked way more easily. so a ghost rush can collapse in on itself pretty hard. co-ordination or not. it’s pretty much the vehicle. there’s no other vehicle so perfect for this but the wasp the strategy is piss poor for ground vehicles
