In several books, we have seen little stories about washed-out Spartans.
With all the advances made in the Halo Universe, are these Spartans still washed-out?
Prime example is Gretchen in Bad Blood. I realize that she really isn’t a wash-out but her situation is similar and the only name i could think of at this time.Well, what are your thoughts?
A lot of the washouts got transferred to other duties. Fahjad wrote several papers on Covenant slipspace travel. Serin Osman was taken in by ONI and groomed to become the head of the organization. There are many others too, and in Halsey’s Personal Journal she mentions how all the washouts who didn’t “survive” the process were kept in cryo in case they could be revived and brought back into service (I believe Red Team, Black Team, and Team Omega were washouts that were re-augmented successfully).
Gretchen isn’t a washout. She left the military after getting hurt, but came back in when she was offered a spot in the S-IV program

If you haven’t already I would look up the video about Spartan-II washouts over on YouTube by Halo Canon. He’s really good and goes in depth about this kinda things.
