not gonna lie watching them talk about this is making me very depressed. i can already tell the sandbox looks like an upressed halo 4
then i heard the weapon sounds…
then i heard them talk about sprint and then the ADC im sorry it was cod
this is a huge mistake, i said the same thing about halo 4 before i even played it. u can just tell by looking at it
the feel of halo is not going to be there, most halo fans didnt want sprint, and what did they do? added it back anyway.
look i know many people are going to be defending it like no tomorrow but honestly you guys dont understand
does it need to evolve? yes but you dont take a game and completely start changing the sandbox and mechanics to something worse. (Counter Strike is a perfect example of a franchise done right)
you want fast shooters? well theres plenty of fps games on the market that do that. why the devs continue to push towards that is beyond me. it seems like they’ve learned nothing from halo 4.
and the sad part is. they’re pushing stuff they think is cool. in their minds they have a vision about what it should be. but they live in another reality
for some reason they have forgotten what made halo great.
it was the small subtle things
from iconic weapon sounds to movement to the sandbox and they’ve strayed from that
these guys just dont understand that. they didn’t with halo 4 and they haven’t with halo 5.
Halo 4 was the first halo game I did not purchase. theres a reason why the competitive scene went to crap and everyone stopped playing. 343 just doesnt get it. they’re not evolving the game in the right way, and its sad to see them completely clueless about some of the things that made halo great.
watching that whole segment has made me severely depressed not even joking. am i overreacting? well i said the same thing about halo 4 and I was right even before we played it and people called me a fool. Halo 5 is going to be the same thing.
well ive turned off the halofest stream i cant it anymore.
Play the game next month, then hate.
If your seriously severely depressed from a video game, no matter how amazing it may have been in the past, you need to get some help.
I think you’re overreacting. I initially raged by creating a forum post titled “Damn you, 343.”, but after carefully watching the gameplay and seeing the “abilties” in play during an actual match, I was very impressed. It’s nothing like Halo 4, honestly. Many of the core Halo elements have been brought back. I think many of us are having knee jerk reactions to something we’ve never played. Let’s play along for a little bit and actually experience the beta first, then be diplomatic in our feedback. 343 is trying to do something special and do right by the community, and we should respect that.

im a huge halo fan grew up with it
a lot of fond memories, so this might sound stupid but i feel like i have an attachment to the franchise, and i really wanted to see halo succeed.
and yes i will play it, but i already know its changed for the worse you look at what made halo great in the past, this changes all that, the core mechanics are the one thing you always want to keep intake
343 just doesnt get it, it was the same with halo 4 its will be the same for halo 5.
You getting bent up over sounds is depressing to watch. ADS is a reskin of zoom. (Its like you people hear a distorted version of what is being said). Granted all weapons do have a “smart zoom” ability, but I doubt they will be used that much. Passing judgement over something without trying it is one of the most ignorant things any human can do. You should be severely dissapointed in yourself

I think they are people paid by 343 to talk positive - Just like the pros obviously were, or the people that were paid to say positive stuff about the xbox one.
The abilities and scope mechanics look so bad, can’t people see how it affected the gameplay? it made it awkward and ruined the flow… so obvious, watch a match of H2 lockout and compare it to h5 guardians beta gamplay, h2 plays much more fluidly. all these new gimmicks are ruining the game!

it really does
the sandbox looks the same as halo 4. and the gameplay is so hectic now. its like cod 2.0, even the guns sound like cod
no more iconic weapon sounds
the core of halo was always that slow methodical gameplay (but not slow in the sense of action) it played so fluidly and was very easy to watch and understand
this is all over the place and just awful to look at, the colors are just horrible. im really disappointed at these devs lack of understanding, they should be off developing another COD game instead of ruining halo
and the worst part is a lot of people dont even see it and think this looks great. its the halo 4 crowd i guess.

Have you, or anyone else complaining played the game? No? Neither have we that are “defending” it. None of us know how it’s going to turn out in the end. Until we actually get our hands on it and spend a good amount of time playing, none of us can say one way or the other if the changes are for better or worse. It’s laughable that people are accusing others of being payed off simply for talking positive about what’s been shown off so far. Really now? No one can like something that you dislike without having been paid off, can they? Heaven forbid someone actually likes what they’ve seen so far.

I had a very similar reaction, but when I looked closely at it I was relieved. It looks different, but I think Halo is still there. I think we all just have to test it out to fully understand how it feels.

Can confirm
I’m paid by 343i, they give me tons of moneys to spread positive BS about the game while the truth is it sucks sooo hard

i understand where your stance is coming from
but trust me, i really can tell just by looking at it, how it will play out.
go watch some h2A and then watch H5 gameplay, and jump back and forth, you’ll get a better understanding what we’re talking about.

I am thoroughly convinced that you people literally just want a reskinned Halo 2 or 3. Which, guess what, that just got released 29 minutes ago. Literally any new gameplay mechanic introduced will be shot down by the self-proclaimed “hardcore”.
I’ve been a devout fan since day one so good luck trying to label me as a casual.
Everyone has these new abilities, therefore they won’t be very hard to balance, which is what the beta is for… This isn’t the case of the rock-paper-scissors situations that were created by AAs, loadouts, etc…
I’m holding off my judgement for when I get my hands on the game, and I suggest you do the same. Jeez, there is just no winning with you people.

Oh please, don’t do funny jokes on me. We know it’s true, and we know how Microsoft have paid people walking around in the store and youtubers, as well as pros: to say good stuff about their things.
It’s still funny how snipedown didn’t get interviewed, andn just stood there smiling at what the other pros were paid to say.

I’ll wait before I make my final judgements but what I’ve seen, looks awful. I loved Halo as a simple shooter that took time to master, some never even master it and that’s what kept people playing. In the gameplay there’s just too much going on at once, and I’ve never said this about any game, but it looks like it plays like Call of Duty. There’s a good reason I don’t play those games and I play Halo.
Well it’s early days so far and there’s a beta next month so we can give our feedback, I hope it plays better than it looks, but I doubt it. I assumed when they said they were going back to Halo’s roots that they were going to do that, not depart from it further.
Ah well, if it isn’t great then there’s always MCC, right?

As a guy who has been playing halo since combat evolved (still play ce from time to time too) I have to say that I am excited for the footage.
Is is it different? Yes. Is that a bad thing? None of us have played it, so we don’t know yet. However, from just looking at it the game lets you move like a spartan would. The ADS works like regular scoping and since I have wanted a scoped AR since… Well forever, I’m not gonna complain about that.
Honestly, my ONLY complaint is the new look of the energy sword and thats about it! It looms good graphically, it looks smooth and fast and balanced.
I went into the demo super excited to see their ‘arena’ style that they claimed to have returned to but by the end I felt very indifferent about Halo 5.
Sure, it’s a step in the right direction from Halo 4 in that everyone has access to these new abilities, but nearly all of them seem to speed up gameplay to a point where I wouldn’t recognize it as Halo. Even their sample game that went 50-49 didn’t get me excited because everyone was moving around the map so fast that I couldn’t keep up with the action.
I fully agree that Halo has to evolve to remain relevant, but the majority of what I’ve seen feels like change for the sake of change with no real benefit to gameplay. Looking forward to the beta all the same!
