Or however you spell that?
Most of them from that council on High Charity got killed by Flood right, but are there any other ones in the universe?

He was not, however indeed most of them were killed. From what I recall there are less than one thousand of them alive so their species is essentially doomed.
From what i understand, The Majority of the San Shynumm species lived and worked on high charity. When the flood came to town, that spelled the doom of their race. Their numbers are too small to sustain themselves.

but what happened to the rest of the prophets? surely a space faring race would have survived the destruction of their home world.

According to the return, the syn went into hiding because after the events of halo 3, the sangheili basically called out genocide upon their race.
I don’t think truth was the last of the San shynumm but all i know is that there numbers were very low even at harvest i think it was around 1000 maybe more i forgot but he surely can’t be the last.

In addition i know that they were also all extremely old and most of them didnt’ do much actual reproduction of the species. A touch of arrogance in that regard probably.

^This, the last few are probably on the run from the Elites.
why were they all old again? i remember reading about how the san’shyuum once were known for their youth & beauty… but i don’t remember how they turned into the form we met in the games, looking like admiral ackbar’s grandparents. was it the forerunners?
There’s a number for every species called the Critical Depensation. Beyond this point, genetic variety is insufficient for long-term survival and the species is doomed. For humans, it’s estimated to be ~1000. I’m wondering if it’s a coincidence that the prophets are supposed to have fallen to this value, or if this is going to be a major plot device. If the Prophets knew their time was limited… makes you wonder what they’d do.
Advanced to their health care pretty much allowed them all to live past 100 years and such. I think it was stated somewhere that some of them are around or over 200 years old. The race as a whole aged and they neglected species propogation as a result of that old age. The belief that nothing bad would ever happen probably helped them put all their eggs in one flood infested basket.
