I’d never seen that ad before, holy heck.
I skipped Halo 5 MP almost completely after the abysmal campaign.
Honestly i wouldn’t be surprised. but i also wouldn’t be surprised if they did it because it’s what they thought was good enough. weather it’s a thing or not, i wouldn’t be surprised
I just cannot fathom what else it could be. This is supposed to be the 343i redemption arc for some awful past decisions.
for a redemption arc, they’ve dug a already bottomless pit for both them and halo. filled it with snakes and spiders, jumped in it and said: this’s the best grave ever, you’l have fun
It isn’t going well, that’s for sure. They need the campaign to perform at 200% satisfaction to make up for the MP.
yup, but honestly, and it may be from the already sour taste of infinite, but i’m kinda loosing hope for the campaign. like sure, open world, side quests along side the main story, upgrades, and stuff like that… but i feel like it’l all be repetitive. the ‘reward’ for doing the side quests becoming less and less useful and worthwhile as you do them. akin to far cry and saint’s row. they may be fun, but they will just be the same thing with the same reward. and the main story should hopefully be better than 5 but… i ain’t holding out hope. probably going to be contrived again just like with most things of 5. Cortana ain’t gunna appear, neither will Thel Vadame’. no osiris or blue team mention. just moving right along as if nothing happened and we have to appreciate the ‘new and better’ stuff…
I didn’t like 5, but it will be jarring that they are just sweeping that whole story under the rug. I don’t see how they will undue all that plot from 5 without it feeling like a retcon. My biggest worry with the campaign is the weapons. I am not enjoying any of the new ones. The spear brute one is cool, but the rest seem boring other than the few classics that made it in. I was really hoping for the DMR at least in campaign. We’ll see I guess
yeah… like i honestly doubt they’l explain a single thing of what happened between 5 and now…
and yeah, agreed. aside from the forrunner weapons, all the others are kinda… boring or redundant.
AR, BR, NEEDLER, PULSE CARBINE, SPNKER, SNIPER, GRAVITY HAMMER, Skewer, and the MANGLER are fine, i guess… even though the mangler is just a simplified mauler, but whatever.
the shot rifle accomplishes the same thing, the EXACT same thing as the stalker rifle, and the stalker rifle may as well be the distrupter with how useless it is, and the distrupter is JUST THE PLASMA PISTOL with extra steps. which thus makes the plasma pistol, null and void, especialy now that its EMP doesn’t effect vehicles.
the bulldog and sidekick are just fakes of the better Shotgun and Magnum. also they don’t at all fit in halo’s artstyle
the commando… i don’t like the look of it, too much of a modern weapon look rather than halo. but all it really is, is a full auto DMR
the energy sword feels… off. like is it just me, or the lack of plasma SFX make it sound… weak?
honestly i don’t like the HYDRA, even in 5… just never felt like it fit in with the UNSC’s design of weapons
the RAVAGER… what’s the point to this gun?
also honestly… i kinda hope the DMR isn’t brought back. i disliked that in 4 and even in 5. the DMR along side the BR and Magnum/sidekick just makes the lot redundant. and kinda stupid. honestly i never really liked the DMR
The commando is so forward heavy looking for a halo gun. I really hate the way it looks with it’s tiny stock.
I love the Reach DMR. The one from 4 was pretty good, but redundant alongside the BR for sure. I’m glad the classic BR look is back, I hated the blocky scope mount they added to it.
Halo 5 only had one gun I liked which was the SMG.
To each their own I guess. Maybe campaign has weapon loadouts and we’ll be able to play with exactly what we want. I hope it has more variety than the MP.
Yes
There is no reason to implement such frustratingly difficult challenges other than to artifically inflate the time it takes between levels of the battle pass and subconsciously promote a tier skip.
honestly i never really liked the DMR for the simple fact that it makes the Mjulnir armor look weak. like 4 shots? sure the BR took 4 bursts too, but that’s the thing, it was a burst, meaning it technically took 12 shots to knock a Mjulnir wielding spartan… though in terms of design, i honestly really liked halo 4/5 design of the DMR over reach’s.
bleh… the SMG… a redundant addition to the sandbox, and a very ‘modern’ design in 5. it at least looked unique in 2/3. slim with the mag on the side… unlike the brick it was in 5.
but i digress… yes, to each there own. we all have differing tastes. but aye, going from how you get rewarded for conquering outposts, i wouldn’t be surprised if you could choose your loadout. also gun variants, like in 5, would be fantastic
Not to be offensive but what are you trying to achieve with your angle of discussion? There are a lot of posts about the player consequences of slow levelling etc. and I can’t see something constructive coming from speculating about company motives.
I just really liked how the SMG handled and felt in Halo 5.
We’ll see, outpost got real boring to me in Far Cry 3 haha
No offense taken. The thought occurred to me and I rarely get this fired up about a game. I haven’t been on the forums for a while, since before they changed and wanted to see if people thought the same as me. In hindsight the question is kind of redundant. I am very passionate about Halo for personal reasons and this whole situation is making me very frustrated.
eh, to each there own i suppose. honestly, whenever i use the 5 SMG it keeps reminding me of a IRL gun that uses the same reload and mag location… i keep forgetting what it was called. PP something…
and indeed we will see… here’s to hoping there isn’t repetitive side quests
god i can relate… whiles i’m certainly not a veteran, i’ve been in love with halo ever since i was shown Reach and got my hands on the prior games, either through the old disk or MCC… Infinite just doesn’t feel like they tried… 5 feels like an attempt and 4 feels like a bit of effort… but infinite feels like neither, just a cash grab. maybe it’s the fact that halo not only continued to follow the gaming trends, but somehow made it worse with how it implemented said trends. having it lean more towards ‘money’ rather than player friendly… it makes CoD cold war look more player friendly -v-
I hope devs and their respective seniors read this
and think about the community out here that build up literal depression enduring their worlds get torn apart:
Games that were their worlds, identity and experience of life are nowadays games that feel like milk machines and throw away systems after the big first wave of cash hit them.
(think of the main statement “making friends” on xbox 20y anniversary show)
I was so happy, had tears of euphoria, reading halo is going to be games as a service.
I immediately thought of riot games’ success with it by improving their game, giving F2P playerbase their deserved cookies and being responsible for community with charity events etc.
I deeply hope halo doesn’t become this somewhat purposefully partly broken browser game selling out with some fancy neon color events without priorities on making the environment worthy to escape in.
Wasn’t it easier to max out the flight test battlepass? Like at a good pace?
I mean, F2P monetization models are always made to maximize revenue and profits. Business models are always made with the business’ interest in mind first and foremost, no matter what the marketing and PR team say about focusing on the player - that’s always misleading at best. Almost by definition that’s how this works.
I don’t agree that is nefarious per-se. However, when the greed gets too strong, you get stupid stuff like the current Halo Infinite system.
of course they made it bad on purpose. they want to extract money. it’s painfully obvious
I wasn’t down the rabbit hole when I started this topic
even if the majority of the playerbase rejects it, they have enough whales to please shareholders and suits for us not to matter. this is corporatism/late capitalism.
the monetisation has been researched and funded to a degree where it is exploitative of the human mind. it’s absolutely disgusting but it’s the way of things now.
