Was the Golden Warthog a concept vehicle?

Concept vehicle, meaning one that was drawn and possibly could have been in the game.

I think it might have been cut early on but I actually think the golden warthog was a light duty transport vehicle without a turret and smaller so it would be faster than the normal warthog. I think it would have been like a double seated go-kart like vehicle.

I think it had anti-tracking magnets on the sides to reduce the lock on ability of the rockets. These magnets could be shot off, reducing the time they can be active for. Also, they would have only stayed active for 30 seconds with a 2 minute cool down.

The golden warthog would also be able to jump to avoid collisions, get over obstacles, avoid running over teammates, avoid fire, etc. The jumping could have been done by a small explosion or by hydraulic action.

How do you visualize how the golden warthog would have been in Halo 2 if it was in the game?

IMO it was just meant as a bit of a joke.

It appears in a billboard advertisement in the multiplayer map Headlong, so I think that they just meant it to appear like it was a civilian variant of the warthog, much like you see people driving around in civilian variants of the humvee.

I always thought there was one stowed away in the bowls of Halo 2, but I learned there was not. I always thought it was Bungie teasing the community.

I was looking for it when I was a kid :stuck_out_tongue:

I think it was just an Easter egg

It was a Mod, I don’t think Bungie ever made one.

Hey Judge!

Agreed, I doubt Bungie made one. Funny thing though, if you go to Metropolis (where the Scarab spawns for the second time), you can see the civilian Hog if you look behind the last sign on that street:
