Was that Sandtrap?

In the vid 343 just posted looking back on H4, when the Spartan was firing a Mongoose from his AR. The bunker on the left, and the pillar in the background behind the dune looks a lot like Sandtrap. THAT would have been an awesome map to have in Halo 4. Has H4 seen its last DLC, or could we get another surprise like the Champions Bundle while we wait for Halo 5? If we do, i hope Sandtrap is in it.

Where might I find this video?

On the front page.

Also that is undoubtedly sandtrap in that video.

And what is the name of the song that plays before all the wacky moments? I swear I’ve heard that everywhere, but never found the name of it.

After watching it again, that definitely is Sandtrap (linky for those wondering where it is). I’ll be honest, I’d really love to see that map again, whether it be in Halo 4 or future Halo titles.

The song used in the video is Arrival (Norin & Rad Remix). And it’s the same song throughout the video.

So it is.

But there’s another song, much older than “Arrival”, that I swear Arrival was blatantly inspired from.

I used to hear something extremely similar when I played Fort Wars back in 2010.

Yeah, I think it was.

But honestly, I’m more interested in that “Ramphog” a few seconds later in that video. It would have been fun to set up a ramp during an online match for your team’s Warthog to jump off of. Furthermore, I’m interested in the landscape where the Warthog with the ramp was. It looked like a large open area, which would have been perfect for Forge. I mean, just pause at 0:45. Look at how huge that area is. Could it have possibly been the start of a new Blood Gulch/Hemorrhage?

Yeah I’m pretty sure it was but I hope it won’t be added in Halo 4. I hope they save Sandtrap for Halo 5 so more people can play it on better settings.

That made me laugh.

Yes, it is definitely Sandtrap! I would like if it was in Halo 4.

That was Sandtrap it looked to be just a test map.

it is but i think your all missing the point!
1)they could have used any map at all and it would have made more sense for them to use a newer map from a newer game like Reach not a 7 year old game!
2) thats not a complete map, thats as if it were early builds of the map, if they were just going to use it for testing they wouldnt make a map just for it and then not use it theyd get a map over from the game (complete map) and the reason i bring this up goes to 3
3) if you pause it you see the slope of part of the structure and then to the right you can see one of those mound parts with the four entrances, i cant remember a part of the map where those two certain part come together like that in that way, it looks as if they were building snadtrap and changes little bits like they have with Valhalla so i got a feeling we could be seeing Sandtrap!

Yeah, which is why they brought back Valhalla…oh wait…

Am I the only one that thought it was going to be an actual video showcasing deleted features and explaining them along with the funny moments along the way, instead of a 30 second montage?

You think I would’ve learned to stop expecting quality from 343i, but I guess I’m too hopeful.

Think so or it was just an old test map , would be epic if they finished it for one last map.

Picture for the lazy.

I dunno, as someone who works with 3D stuff, the maps seems pretty much done; just needs a few minor adjustments to complete it.

I’m expecting this in a future DLC, or in Halo 5.

It was probably scrapped due to lack of time or was used purely for tests. It would definitely fit in Halo 5 with maybe a bigger map and Mammoths!

No, I actually thought the same thing as you.

“TO CELEBRATE HALO 4’S BIRTHDAY, ENJOY A LOOK AT SOME THINGS THAT DIDN’T MAKE IT IN THE GAME.”

Basically saying “Here are some things that we COULD have had to possibly make the game better, but why would we do that?”

…you mean glitchy character models, rainbow warthogs that explode if they hit something, mongoose firing, and a ramp hog?

Yeah, definitely would make the game better…

This video was showing a bunch of hiccups and glitches and just funny tests they’d been doing before the game. None of that was intended or planned to be pushed. I wouldn’t want most of that… maybe some things for custom games, but otherwise leave them in the bug test stage.

It looks like Sandtrap was a test map. I do wonder if that means it could be returning. I’d love that.

It did appear that Sand Tarp was a test map. WOW!!!. Some CTF with Mammoths would have been epic! Haloz
